hi,

this morning I regged a .com and later decided that the idea wasnt very good. probably could develop it but there is no mileage in it.

Can you cancel domain registrations?

I emailed domainmonster for cancellation and they saud this was not possible

Thanks for contacting Domainmonster support. Unfortunately we are not able to offer you cancellation and refund on a name that you have already purchased. This is due to the real time nature of domain registration, and we incur costs the second you press the "Place Order" button. We register your domain immediately and it appears in your account and is ready to use as you see fit. We are not able to get our money back from the registries for our registrations, so therefore we cannot pass the savings on to you I am afraid.

I apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused you, and please do get back in touch if you have any more questions.

Well, yes it depends on registrar's. Most of registrar's does not offer refund once you register domain name but some are still offering grace period of 4-5 days.

Well, not offering refunds on domain registrations is not really a shady way of doing business. This is a practice that has always been in effect. The grace period was something that was introduced at a later date. Then, due to domain tasting, some registrars began to opt out of the practice of offering a grace period. There are still many registration providers out there that still offer some form of grace period besides just godaddy. They just don't all publicly advertise it all the time for obvious reasons.

To find out if your current registration provider offers some form of refund policy or grace period, all you have to do is ask their customer service team. Chances are they will probably offer occasional refunds as long as you don't make a habit of it. I know godaddy for example will start to deny refunds on domains if you start registering and requesting refunds on those domains on a regular basis. Ive heard it happen to some people in the past.
