I received a notification from the ".CA authorities" haha. It noted that very soon, the whois protection on .CA would be free of charge as it is the right of the person to not disclose to the public his contact information if he does not wish to.
The Canadian Internet Registration Authority (CIRA) will be implementing changes to the dot-ca (.ca) WHOIS, effective June 10, 2008.
The dot-ca WHOIS service is a public search tool that allows users to look up information about the holders of dot-ca domain names. A WHOIS search returns such information as name, address, phone and fax numbers and email address. After consulting with the public, CIRA adopted a new WHOIS policy that no longer displays this information, to provide greater privacy for our Registrants.
As an individual Registrant, your private information will be protected by default โ no action is required to receive this additional privacy feature.
Hope the same will be with .com's. I'm sure if you want to make your contact email public without your full address it should not be a problem. I believe they did something very smart, stopping the registration companies from profiting from one's need to privacy.
