Buying and selling domains question

Hi,

I just have a few questions regarding buying and selling domain names.
firstly, If I wanted to resell domain names, should I purchase expiring domain names as these already have traffic?
My main question- is it possible to register a popular .com, .net, .info domain name with no traffic and attempt to sell these for a profit? (I know most of them are registered but there are a few rare ones).
Lastly, are .net, .org, .info and country domain names a good investment as .com is the main one. Do these have any value?

If they had much traffic the owner probably would not let them expire.

Possible, but also can waste a lot of time trying to find good ones.

Only the best names or developed websites have value if they are not .com.
com's always get the most respect.

.com's always get the most respect as said above, but that is not to say other extensions are not worth it! Just do your research before purchasing anything in bulk!

Of the 140 million world wide registered domains about half is a .com domain. So by far the highest prices and imo most stable investments will be found there.

Other TLD's may have more opportunities (in terms of availability) and still have nice sales. The current ranking of ccTLD's in nr of registrations: .de (Germany) .cn (China) .co.uk (United Kingdom) .nl (Netherlands) and .ar (Argentina).

To name a few sales: cruises.co.uk has been sold for 1 mln USD and voetbal.nl for 600k USD (voetbal means soccer).
