.US domains.US domains
domaining

Best place I found to buy names is namecheap.com

They are not the cheapest about $9 for a .com, but it is reasonable and there console is sooo easy to use compaired to some others i have used.

When it is time to transfer the name you can just push the name to the other partys account.

As far as is it worth it? I have spent about $4000 on domain names over the past 5 years and have made about $4000 so I am about eaven and have about 100 names in my portfolio. If you get the right name you can make money by monitizing traffic or trying to resell it. Trying to buy a domain to resell it is not very easy there are thousands of domainerts trying to do it and finding a good name that is not already registered is almost imposable.

I strongly recomend not buying any domains till you spend considerable time on forums like these and see what is worth registering. I wasted a lot of money when i started reging names that where worth nothing.

As far as getting cash for traffic i would recomend parking your name at Sedo or one of the other parking programs that are out there. Dont expect to make a killing from parking. If it pays for the reg you are ahead of the game.

There are quite a few guys and gals on this forum that make $$$$$ with there names, but they all have one thing in common. They all have some skills with HTML.

Have fun. Dont spend crazy cash reging worthless names and if you get a winner dont sell it to the first offer.

the most important thing is to have enthusiasm for the business. the money is just a way of keeping score.
learn from others and be patient.
use one or more of the 3 most recommended registrars and you will avoid a lot of heartache: namecheap, moniker, godaddy.

investment or fun

I think the most important thing before jumping into this domain business is to know whether you do it for fun or investment.
If it is for fun, then you can spend the money like what you do for movies. You save a bit and spend accordingly.
If it is for investment, then you have to calfulate what might be the most possible gain/loss. And plan to hold the name for a couple of years. Better yet, have other investment that could make up the loss if the domain does not sell.
But always, start slow. I think I jumped into this game to quick and registered quite a few sub par names.
All said, have fun! :)

I am not sure I am the rite one to answer this seeing how I have been in the DN business for about 6 or 7 months.
But one thing I can tell you is you can learn alot on this forum---I have
And I will agree with everyone else---start slow---I regged a few names that I wish I could take back :)
And it has to be a passion----but I have regged to many---I get carried away :)
Already have about 125 DN

Hahha.. well.. I got 8 domains in about 30 days.. :)

Parked at NameDrive.com all of them and got $20 in 2 days.. I must say I am very proud of my investment.

I would suggest buying domains, parking at NameDrive.com (if you want to sell it, which is a slim chance, then park at Sedo..) I have made quick and quick money in domains... yay!

what do you mean by parking?

sorry just read up on it and I now know what it is.

I was thinking of just regestering 1 or 2 for now and seeing what it does.

is that from getting clicks to the website??

Also whats a reasonable amount of traffic? as there are some domins for sale here $1 ect. which at $1 how can you go wrong I know look for a unique name ect.

I have some that are avaliable I wont list them as I dont want someone to ripp em off. Im mainly in the modchip/console gear business so I have a few names for console gear ect.

would you recomend me picking up a few names on here and parking them at namedrive?? or would it be a big no no.

.

Also with NP clicks I have these

Domain Credit: 22.75 NP

now if this credits to register a domain name?

Im mainly in it for the money (everyone who parks there would be in it for the money) and something to do but I do not mind loosing my money if a domain ends up a dud.

Hi ive decided to give a couple a go from the selling section.

NewXBox.net $5
SiteArticles.net $5
XBoxSite.net $6

he just registered them im guessing hes not earning much on them but its ok as Id like to try it out but why not start with 3 instead of 1 lol.

are all domain names transferable for free?? like as mentioned above namecheap.com seems like a good buying and storing site for domain names I have registered up.

Yes on both counts....but experience and professionalism count for alot.

Wheres the cheapest place to buy domain names?

Boards like these...save your money on new regs and buy a good value reseller dn...

can someone fill me on the details how to buy sell and transfer the domain names

Get a paypal account and open an account with an easy internal transfer Registrar like enom, Regfly, NameCheap Godaddy....Know the ins and outs of escrow.com as well for XXX plus purchases or sales....and best of luck!

Instead of having someone retype years of experience, I would strongly suggest browsing the board, reading over dnjournal.com , and reading through namefaqs.com to get a good idea of the industry before buying/registering more than a few dollars worth of anything.
Attempting to answering your question in one thread, much less one post, would be impossible.

if you can develop a little bit the domain you have purchased and it generate some sort of traffic and rankings, it will cost much higher than what you expect it to be. but parking it will do no good at all.

I have a domain name that I have setup (which is under reconstruction of the site) I put it on namedrive.com I dont even get a hit even if I visit it.

or do I have to wait till the dns names change over?

Domain NameServer Details
Primary ns1.fastpark.net
Secondary ns2.fastpark.net

if so how long does it take to change over? last time I did it it was within the hour so far its about 4 hours.

DNS changes can take a couple of days to propagate, so be patient ... Usually it is quite a bit quicker though.

From what I have read you have started out well in that you are concentrating on domains around a subject that you are interested in ( and know something about ), this will make it easier for you to get the most from them.

Have to agree that your best thing is to read through this site as much as possible and learn from the people here.

One thing I would suggest as you are just starting out is keep really good accounting records, so keep notes on how much you spend on each domain ( including hosting and anything else you spend on them ), also keep a rough log of how much time you are spending on finding / developing / advertising.

Even if you are going to just do it for a bit of fun it is a good idea to treat it as a business .... I think quite a few people would be shocked at how much they actually spend :)

Most of all .. Have fun !!

Wishing you all the best.

Thanks, I will take your advice on keeping records so as not to end up with a big amount in the red.

Been reading up and im so jelous (spelling?) of that guy with 55,000 domains or was it 550,000 domains.

Ive already got a couple on mind about xbox modding and cheats their names arnt bad and all the extensions are avaliable.

Oh a couple of days is going to kill me.

Ok instead I just put a redirect for now. um how long does it take to regester as views to the site or clicks. as I tried it 15 mins later still 0 on the people viewed. does it exclude my ip addy?

its ausxmods.com

it seems to redirect without a problem.

heres the redirect info

<?php
$page = 'http://www.ndparking.com/ausxmods.com';
// header("HTTP/1.1 301 Moved Permanently");
header("Location: $page");
?>
<html>
<head>
<meta http-equiv="refresh" content="0; <?php echo $page; ?>">
<title>Redirecting you to...</title>
</head>
<body>
Redirecting you to <a href="<?php echo $page; ?>">here</a>
</body>
</html>

or is it just im really not patient.

BTW I am very happy with the advertisements that have been added they match what the name says.

if no one could figure out the name it says australian (aus) extreme (X) mods (modchips/modifications) it was my first choice and I had no problem getting and i like it. this is only getting parked for a month as said above.

DONT WORRY ABOUT THE ABOVE I GOT A VIEW SO ITS WORKING ITS JUST ME BEING IMPATIENT (spelling?)

I was buying well over 15 per day. At 1and1.com. I haven't even checked on those domains since Nov 15. I have since moved all buying to Godaddy.com and Dynadot (although they suck at selling). Right Now I have 461 domains. Parking money has netted me $976.51 so far and reselling I've gotten over $6000 from Ebay( several over $500) and here, many $2-$50 sales. DNF, a couple of $100-500 sales, other message boards, Private sales, you get the picture.

I currently have a law domian with 60 different lawyers bidding for in my hometown alone (Charlottesville, Va) with high bid @ $850, for a name I paid for 2 mo. ago for $7.20 @ Godaddy.com!
