New to buying and selling domains

Hello, I am new to buying and selling domains. I was wondering if anyone could point me to a website that explains what to look for when purchasing domains. I know traffic, but how do i take a domain and turn a profit? Do you just have to get lucky and register mcdonalds.com? Also I've heard of some software that is used to alert you when a domain is going to become availabel. Any help would be appriciated, thanks

You can also look at namenewbies.com and to see what the big guns do daily visit dnjournal.com (nice resources listed there aswell).

The best thing to do is stay around these forums and you'll get some good tips.
