The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.

I guess they are PlaceName + Keyword ? Where PlaceName could be a City, County, Town, Country, Island, Resort, Destination?
I'd like to understand this better as well... because that sounds more like a standard Geo Keyword domain than a brandable to me...

My guess is it's names like urbanwilderness, cityfarm, partycity, and whatnot.

From news letter ...
If you have any premium generics, or any pronounceable 4 letter names, please send them our way!

They accepted one of my 4L a while back. But rejected OULF. In french it is very very pronouncable, but I guess its not so much in English. Maybe it is and they simply did not like it at all.

The first newsletter is officially out.
---------------------------------------------

We are you happy to present you with our first seller's newsletter that will keep you updated on the happenings at BrandBucket.

July Sales
What started as a normal July ended as one of our better months to date. Keywords and pure brandables were almost evenly split with 51% of the sales being keyword domains and 49% being invented names. 54% of the keyword sales were made up of two word combinations, another 27% that sold consisted of a root word with a common ending added such as ly, sy, za, etc. The remaining 19% were alternate spellings of dictionary words and other prefix/ending combinations. It is probably no surprise that shorter is better for the invented domain sales with the average character length being 6.

Top Searches
The biggest mover is definitely "metro", which hasn't been anywhere near this high in the past. We've seen a few urban/city names sell, so it appears this search is leading to some nice sales. The other 14 search terms have stayed pretty consistent over the last few months.

Big Sales
Over the last three months we have made some great sales including the 6-figure sale of Responsive.com, and several 5-figure sales of LLLL.coms and generic keyword names. If you have any premium generics, or any pronounceable 4 letter names, please send them our way!

Commission Junction Deactivated
We have stopped the use of Commission Junction and are currently working on a better affiliate solution. We will update you once a new system has been implemented.

Finally, this is a great time to push through any names that are currently in progress. Our publishing queue has been optimized over the last two months, and your name will go through editorial and logo design very quickly. It's also a good time since we experience stronger sales in the second half of the year, once summer wraps up. It's not too early to start thinking about having a few extra bucks when Christmas rolls around!

For any other questions or comments feel free to email me at [email protected] or Skype me at michaeljkrell.

Happy domaining and have a great August!

Managing Director @BrandBucket
Hi Michael-just noticed the comment on "city sales" I submitted one of the best city/resort names in the USA and it was turned down NaplesBeachFlorida.com -although this was prior to you having this information I believe-and with a note that I wouldn't sell it cheap-lol. Will BB now be taking "Geo" names? Thank you.

The slider under the domain price does not appear to work or is it just me having this issue?

It's still a very very good - but they face the problem we all do of getting relevant names in front off the consumer, rather than having to wade through so many names.

@michaeljkrell
Confirmed by other seller too. It is broken. Logo award cannot be changed as well.

Uncaught TypeError: $(...).slider(...) is not a function

An update to my earlier post (can't edit) about selling on other platforms, but submitting everything to BB. I forgot to mention that while waiting for the decision process at BB, I usually put names up at other places. Not such a big deal now with much shorter approval times, but when the wait was several weeks it was not uncommon to get interest and even a buyer before it was even approved or rejected on BB. I know its an overused sales phrase, but it is a "numbers game"...the more eyes on the name, from any source, the quicker it will sell.

Apexx-I put you on ignore for a reason-why would you possibly "dislike" my above comment? I'm going to report it because there's no reason for it and as a rule I'd never do that.

I have had the problem and mailed Julia who told me to clearing my internet browser's cache and that solved the problem for me - how to do so on different browsers:

@wwwulff Thank you. I tried this before and it worked. Now it seems to be another problem. I tried from 3 different browsers and a tablet, but it doesn't work. Can anyone else here confirm whether it works or not?

Best Regards,
dpan

Yep, I just did (new incognito window on Chrome) with no luck. Does it work for you now or it worked?

I dislike that in a Brandbucket experience thread you continually try to sidetrack the discussion to complain about BB not accepting your domain names.

Feel free to PM me if you'd like to chat about it.

I agree. His constant use of the dislike button is having a negative effect on my overall enjoyment of the NamePros experience.

His "like" of your above comment is a perfect example of why this guy should be banned-it's immature and adds zero here. I've just reported him again and hopefully you will too. My comments here might be tough on BB sometimes but this guy is childish and disruptive. re: Apexx

I was under the impression cocaseco was being sarcastic. I guess he is serious. My apologies for disliking London555's posts that do not add value to this discussion. Like I said, please PM me and I'd be happy to discuss.

Getting the thread back on topic, I just want give credit to BB where credit is due. I had 2 names stuck in Pending Logo Design for 60+ days and both were published within one week of contacting @michaeljkrell. Very impressed with their customer support thus far.

@michaeljkrell you previously said that pure brandables sold at a 3:1 rate versus keyword brandables. Was July an aberration?

"Pure brandables" is fuzzy expression for a fuzzy category. These names go from strong inherent meaning to weak inherent meaning (in a linguistic sense, not valuation wise).

I prefer the definition "abstract brandable" as it tells something of the nature of them. Naturally there would be a scale here aswell, where some border on the "keyword" category and some are so abstract that they almost carry no meaning.

I believe categorization may be some of the explanation for the 3:1--->1:1 transformation.

That, or there's been a sudden shift in customer preference.

IMO

PS. The pricing slider i s broken.
