The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
.US domains.US domains
waiting for your domain to get accepted should take say a week

waiting for the logo say 2 weeks max

the BIG issue i find with such sites like these is that the new domains get buried under way too fast from the first page

so then you have the option to pay more of course but that pushes the regular domains under even faster

people surfing such a site imo gets overwhelmed with WAY TOO many options for them to try and decide on a domain and with that lessens the chance of sale

seems to me that its like a shotgun approach to marketing. to much junk mixed in with the good domains that it all gets muddled up and potential buyers possibly get turned off to buy due so many choices

i had a 3rd domain accepted a month ago to list at $3000+ that they appraised but i decided not to add it to the site

From a designers stand point. There may be some bias consideration going towards accepting domains based on the reviewing designers creative inspiration. It's not only common for designers to sometimes feel more inspired and envision a foundation for graphic art just by looking at something, it's also common for designers that have been working on full throttle to burn them self out and lose some of their creativity (Which requires some time off to relax and recharge the creative batteries so to speak). The designers may have just hit a creative block with some names is all. Hopefully it's temporary, but then, the more domains that get piled on, the more full throttle they have to keep working, and the higher the chance of a burnout happening.

Of course I'm just speculating and it may be something completely different. That's just the experiences I've had and seen over the years. ;)

Yeah, we can't complain--they DO make money, after all. I just fail to see logic in their selections. They had, I think it was FRAQ.com -- easily a good name. But many of their others are just... head-scratchers :p
I can't speak for themselves but I think they will discard domains with possible negative meanings (rude).
What the fraq are you doing ? :p

In a week or two I will have 25 names in Brandbucket and 30 names with Namerific all with very similar price points (low x,xxx to low xx,xxx) so that should be a pretty good litmus test. BB is so far winning 1-0 and Namerific had a 5-7 week lead time.

Did anybody sold any names on BB in the last 2-3 months? I can see that people submitted domain names but not many sales yet. I have 5 domain names with BB and waiting for my 1st sale.

Thanks. Just the one in the last few weeks for BB. I've only had names there for a 3 weeks or so.

Brandroot and Nameperfection, although I'm not sure if they allow domain owners to sell their domains yet.

I listed my first name with Brand Bucket approximately 3 months ago and now have 13 with them. The first name I listed is now on page 14 with over 800 names listed since mine went live. Thats a whole lot of names to search through if I am an end user. Personally I don't think an end user is going to use the filter by category section and I doubt they will ever reach page 14 during a search. On may 15 is when Brand Bucket started pushing their site more on Namepros, DNjournal etc......it took Brand Bucket almost 6 years to accumulate the amount of names on their site and in only the past 3 months has almost doubled the amount of names that they have listed. Before they listed all of these names I would visit Brand Bucket on a regular basis to see what new names were listed and for weeks at a time I would see the same names on the first page with one or two names added every once in a while. This was obviously good for sales because a newly listed name would be on the front page for weeks at a time but this is not the case now. A couple of weeks ago I had one of mine go live and within 2 days was off the first page. What are your thoughts on all of this?

Yeah, BB is added many Domain names recently to expand their marketplace, i think it would be better if BB can add a scrolling Gadget that will show any Domain names instantly ..:D

I was thinking exactly the same thing and wanted to write something about it. Then again i thought about it and came to the conclusion that BB has no other option than what you see today.

Look, they still reject most of the names, they even reject more than in the past even though i think I improved the quality of my names even more than let say an year ago. Many of my good names (at least in my opinion) were rejected, one of them even sold few days later at Namerific and one of them i personally sold few days ago myself for 1K.

The only 'problem' is that they get so many submissions that even though they reject so many names, a lot more names get accepted than in the past, simply because of the numbers.

So, again, what options do they have?
Make it even more harder to get a name accepted?
Completely stop accepting names for a period of time?

The cat is out of the bag (as equity said) and since everyone jumped on the bandwagon, the result is what we see today.
I mentioned this in one of my posts in this thread and said that the number of sales should increase too (more marketing, improving the site, etc.) and not only the number of listed names, otherwise it will get harder and harder to sell anything at all.

By the way, the same is now happening at Namerific.
I see around 100 pending logo designs now whereas few weeks ago it was 20 or 30.
It is hard to find a balanced way of handling this.
So i also understand the owners of such sites.

The problem with BB is: they don't understand what quality is by more than the obvious. Every domainer can see the greatness of EPIQ.com but not many see the 'greatness' of pictaz.com -- likely because there is no greatness there, at all.

Speculation exists but the general consensus is a domain like pictaz.com isn't anything to call home over.

I've sold 3 now in 3 months, from a dozen listed

The first sold straight away - they contacted a foreign company using the same name.
The second sold - I presume - via the BB listing.
The third contacted me directly with a reasonable offer, but I sent them to BB and they bought that day for 3x as much.

I very happy with the results, primarily because these sat at Sedo and GD for quite a while at much lower prices.

The large number of new listings isn't ideal, but many people looking for a brand name won't mind spending a few hours browsing BB to find one.

Great sales for you, i guess your first name is "NIBL" , Right?

I have made small research about the origin of last 46 domain names accepted on BB. Only one third of the names are with transparent names of the owners. All others are protected by PrivacyGuardian.org. And what is more interesting, all these names protected with PrivacyGuardian are registered inside few weeks from the end of 2012 to the beginning of 2013!!!

Just received an initial $2.000 offer from a serious enduser (checked him out) who is planning a food website for my f.o.o.d.d.o (c0m). This name was rejected by both BB and Namerific.
Funnily another enduser also offered $400 recently for this name.

Just saying that its a lot about personal taste when we talk about brandable names and all decisions made by these sites are a combination of experience and personal taste of one person! no more, no less. Can be right, can be wrong. Its good to cooperate with these sites, i like them, but most importantly believe in your own abilities and taste.
