I listed my first name with Brand Bucket approximately 3 months ago and now have 13 with them. The first name I listed is now on page 14 with over 800 names listed since mine went live. Thats a whole lot of names to search through if I am an end user. Personally I don't think an end user is going to use the filter by category section and I doubt they will ever reach page 14 during a search. On may 15 is when Brand Bucket started pushing their site more on Namepros, DNjournal etc......it took Brand Bucket almost 6 years to accumulate the amount of names on their site and in only the past 3 months has almost doubled the amount of names that they have listed. Before they listed all of these names I would visit Brand Bucket on a regular basis to see what new names were listed and for weeks at a time I would see the same names on the first page with one or two names added every once in a while. This was obviously good for sales because a newly listed name would be on the front page for weeks at a time but this is not the case now. A couple of weeks ago I had one of mine go live and within 2 days was off the first page. What are your thoughts on all of this?
I was thinking exactly the same thing and wanted to write something about it. Then again i thought about it and came to the conclusion that BB has no other option than what you see today.
Look, they still reject most of the names, they even reject more than in the past even though i think I improved the quality of my names even more than let say an year ago. Many of my good names (at least in my opinion) were rejected, one of them even sold few days later at Namerific and one of them i personally sold few days ago myself for 1K.
The only 'problem' is that they get so many submissions that even though they reject so many names, a lot more names get accepted than in the past, simply because of the numbers.
So, again, what options do they have?
Make it even more harder to get a name accepted?
Completely stop accepting names for a period of time?
The cat is out of the bag (as equity said) and since everyone jumped on the bandwagon, the result is what we see today.
I mentioned this in one of my posts in this thread and said that the number of sales should increase too (more marketing, improving the site, etc.) and not only the number of listed names, otherwise it will get harder and harder to sell anything at all.
By the way, the same is now happening at Namerific.
I see around 100 pending logo designs now whereas few weeks ago it was 20 or 30.
It is hard to find a balanced way of handling this.
So i also understand the owners of such sites.
