Also I don't think BB worries about the sales reporting because it clearly doesn't affect their sales ratio one single bit. In fact both myself and Krell knows that BB has seen a significant increase in sales compared to last year.

What they might worry about is : How much data intelligence does X has. Does X have any plans. This worries is common with all companies that compete with one another. And such worries are good for growth.
Your now part of brandbucket team?

Interesting to see Clevos/com sold this month. I thought I recognised that name, and it turns out I sold it via BB at the end of October 2015. If the data is correct it looks like it might have again been picked up in June or July this year at auction, and relisted on BB for same price as before. Privacy on WHOIS, so no way of telling who relisted it.

@Dnbolt do you know which BB account clevos was listed under for most recent sale?

Are you really sure? I can certainly see that tickets are only valid for one person. In others words I have no records of the sales occurring before.

Does these sales look any familiar?

strivos/com
voslo/com
vosby/com

Also by looking at the whois I can see that the last drop was in 2007.

Yeah I received initial sales email from BB on 29/10/15. At the time something weird did happen on their side, and it didn't show in my Sold Domains list. That might be why you didn't see the original sale. But I can vouch 100% that I sold this name on BB in 2015.

Any idea which user account this name was sold from this time around? My guess is that it was purchased at auction, and that's why it didn't drop. But it changed owner in 2015, and then again I presume in 2016 to the owner who just resold it. It would be interesting to learn who that was though.

Yep your right. It must have sold via auction. Quite sad I didn't snap it. Unfortunately I don't know this particular users bb profile.

@oneventures did it again :wideyed:. Broke the sales record for this month. teso/com @ ~70K

Funnily enough this domain has huge traffic and would have 200% sold own it's own.
It has alexa rank of about 8 million which is even better than some sites with content.
nhs.uk one of the biggest health service in UK and authoritative site is pointing to brandbucket.com

Wait, did you just say you're working for BrandBucket?

It was more like a rhetorical question. He clearly knows I don't. Maybe a vigilante.

I know. I forgot to put a smiley face. :)

Understanding the art of hand registering domains, is far much fruitful than understanding the art of back ordering domains. One of my favourite was "shiftlayer" which seem to have sold under 2 months.

Anyone know roughly what BB's sell-through in Q4 of 2016 was?

Anyone know roughly what BB's sell-through in Q4 of 2016 was?

I've got DnBolt recording 265 sales from October 1 thru Dec 31, today. Multiply that by 4 quarters = 1,060

Use the Nov 12 inventory total of 41,700 (about halfway through the quarter)

= 1,060 / 41,700 = 2.5%

Better than I thought it would be, actually.

Thank you @Nat Hunt.

If you have the dnbolt data at hand, can you also see how many of the Q4 sales were for domains hand registered in 2015 and 2016? Would be even more interesting to know their current sell-through specifically for those names, as I assume the majority of most peoples’ BrandBucket portfolio is made up of domains hand registered in 2015-16 (that includes my own BB portfolio).

@Arca 102 out of 265 were created in '15 or '16 but remember if you dropcatch a name the creation date resets, but that's not a hand-reg.

So about one per day. They’ve added 35000 names +/- in 2015-16 (they had a 8400 names in mid Jan 2015), with most of the inventory growth over these two years presumably being hand-regged names. Assuming dnbolts sales numbers are accurate, that translates into a very low sell-through for this group of names (probably somewhere in the 1.2-1.4% range).

@Arca and @Nat Hunt , thanks for pointing that out. I did notice that most of the names that sell on BB aren't hand regged, but it's good to have a sense of the numbers.

In the mean time, did you guys notice that pride.ly and pridely were both sold in December? I wonder if it's the same buyer. Maybe I'll go out there and get some .ly domains. LOL. j/k

Even lower I suspect. It's likely that once you remove the drop catch names the % of hand reg sales is closer to 20% of total. So you'll be closer to 0.5% sales rate for those names. One of the big factors with hand reg is the lack of traffic, and the dirty little secret of most marketplaces is that direct traffic is one of the best sales channels. I'd further hazard that quite a number of hand reg sales originate from traffic delivered into BB by other domains.
