RebelFox is a good name. There is a RebelFox Boutique, RebelFox Marketing, RebelFox Films....

It could also be and edgy girls/womens clothing line and countless other things. BB rejected it because it's not a tech targeted name.

@Justin Matmor you are clueless. The only names you think are good are a keyword plus any random 3 letter suffix. Everybody and their mother can come up with those names and submit them to BB. Don't knock others because they are much more creative then you.

You are teaching? LOL :) :) :) That's the funniest shit on this thread!

"RebelFox" is a good/creative name. It implies confronting the status quo in a clever way.

Suggestion - the best way to learn about trademarks is to apply for one. Unlike patents which require an attorney license, applying for a federal trademarks (and service mark) with the USPTO does not require the applicant to be a licensed attorney.

FYI - Trademarks are for products, service marks are for processes/services.

I have personally applied for (and received) 1 trademark and 2 service marks several years ago. No, I am not an attorney, but can follow directions. It can be done online and is a terrific learning experience. Not only will you learn about trademark terminology, you will also have a better awareness (and respect for) branding and the branding process.

This insight comes in handy when thinking about "brandables" and their application.

I hope the info is helpful for those considering the "brandables" market.

-Jim

ps: This afternoon I searched USPTO and see no federally registered trademark for the term "Rebel Fox", however, when searching online (via Google Search) I observed several references to "Rebel Fox Farms" and "Rebel Fox Films". I mention this as if one of these entities decides to file a trademark (service mark) application down the road, their "1st use in commerce" for the term has already been established. They likely are a DBA "doing business as" entity at the State level via a state registered "trade name". "Trademark" is federal, "trade name" is local per state. These are issues to consider when branding nationally.

ps: An afterthought... another topic to consider is what is the "IC" class that you are intending to mark as "Rebel Fox". Meaning, is the product/service you are marking in a different class than someone else who already has a registered trademark. For example, an "Apple" branded toothpick (flavored toothpick) is not in conflict with an "Apple" branded computer.

Nail on the head right there!

Personally, this is one name I wouldn't have bothered to submit to BB. My strategy is to sell what I can myself and give BB the names I want to keep that don't have existing end users.

I'm sure you could sell RebelFox yourself for a good price. You just need a landing page with a BIN button on it (Efty? Namesilo? Your own website?), then contact the possible targets from your broker email address ;).

Good luck with it!

Unfortunately they're not very good names. Don't register any dragon names with words like market, invest etc.....they don't match. You registered TargetPanda when good alliterations like TargetTiger and TargetTurtle are available. Not saying these are great names but a name that sounds and flows better will sell before one that doesn't. Bee names are good but BB won't accept a name with the keyword Fabric. The fabric market is not their target. Bear names are good but the keyword campus is not. Tiger is good but the keyword motion is just ok. Capital is good but papa is not. No one is ever going to name themselves that. GlamWizard is actually pretty good for something relating to style, fashion, women etc....I would keep it and list it for under 500 bucks.

To register good names first focus on the popular keywords. Make a list of the top 50-100 and then find names that fit with those keywords. If you like animal type names then see what is registered with a certain popular keyword + animal. If many of the good animals are available then chances are the keyword is not that popular. The key is to find popular keyword + popular animal but not any random keyword with any random animal. Study what is registered first and work your way backwards to find good names that are unregistered.

You are a lost cause.

People who refuse to learn are often the most annoying.

Lost cause maybe but definitely entertaining. I used to take him seriously but now I just find him amusing.

Is there a correlation between posters that attack me and those that get BB rejects?

Obviously there is.

If I joined NP 5 years ago does that make me more of an expert than someone that joined today?

For your information I have been domaining, selling online, providing online training for more than 10 years.

Seriously, some people's posts make me question their sanity, or maybe it's an attention thing.

I think you'll get Rebel Fox sold, and thankfully you won't have to pay BB 30%.

Who knows why they reject some names? It could simply be that they have a decent number of 'rebel' names that haven't sold for a long time.

Tons of people get offers on BB rejects all the time. Somebody quoted Frank Schilling as saying that the biggest secret in domaining is landing pages. I don't think it's a secret, but either way, just throw up a landing page and wait.

Best of luck to you buddy.

First, I was actually defending you.... reread what I wrote and you'll see.

Second, Phiona didn't get anywhere near $200.

I had to edit my last message. It wasn't very nice and I apologize. Not here to attack anyone.

I sold StartFox.com on BB sometimes last year. As for RebelFox, I think it's a nice name too. BB rejects a lot of good names and accepts some questionable ones. I would not recommend building your investment strategy around what type of names they accept.
