As the title says, beware kids, there are some "new" scams on the march..

If you have just listed your domain for a bid (Sedo, Ebay...) and you recived an email in a less then 1 day from a company called:

NTT Software Consulting
Custom insurance software development using Oracle, Visual Basic, MS
Access and Delphi

and the person, who is writing to you is a woman named Sarah and offers you to buy your domain, but you have to set the price, then just say to her/him, Go and F?uck Yourself... It's a scam, don't be naive, make sure you get to know the person with whom you are making business.

Well he/she is now operating under a different name so watch out .

Got this email earlier today :

Hello,

I'm writing regrading your domain listed for sale.

Have you received bids from other buyers?

Could you be so kind to drop me your asking price.

Selling & buying names is not my main business. Just another way to invest free money and make some income.

Kindest regards,

Clinton Woods

Ph. D. President

After I sent him a reply i got the other message :

400. Ok.

Do you sell a developed site or just domain name? If you don't have a site it's not a problem. I'm mostly interested in domain names without content.

Do you have an appraisal of your domain? I need an appraisal certificate for domain priced in your range. Domain name is an investment for me. I'm going to sell your name later and make a profit. If I overpay I won't be able to make a profit in the future. It's very important for you and me to know the current market value of your domain.

Please note that I don't trust free or cheap appraisals. So I cannot accept appraisal from each and every site.

To avoid mistakes I asked domain experts about reputable appraisal companies in an Internet law forum:
http://www.domaintalk.ourplace.com/Archive/21076.htm

Juck check this posting.

After I verify an appraisal from you we'll continue our negotiations.

How do you prefer to get paid: www.PayPal.com, www.escrow.com, check or wire?

Looking forward to your reply.

As you can see .. the text is identical to the emails the other members of NamePros received.

Here is the reply I sent him/her :
Hello Mr Clinton Woods .. or should I say Sarah Muray ?

Nice try. It's only fair to warn you that I am going to report you to the
authorities.

Best of luck.

And.. I am going to report him/her .

What action do you expect SEDO to take? No action, because any one can whois your domain and get your e-mail..SEDO won't involve in such thing.

I've dealt with this person as well a few weeks back. Of course, he/she was under a different name then. I told him if he wants an appraisal then he'll have to pay for it.

VERY similar text in both the first and second email I got from him, but the third email (the one he sent me after I told him to get his own appraisal) was him basically defending the "fact" that it was standard practice for the domain owner to provide an appraisal if they were serious about selling the name.

What a b*stard!

Sounds like the same scam. What he doesn't know is that the domain -wvpower.info- is connected to the new area baseball team, West Virginia Power, that is a farm team for the Brewers, and they operate wvpower.com. I'll answer it, but I don't expect to hear from him again, since I'm going to tell him current appraisal is useless.

Oh! Oh! OH! No Really, let's have some fun with this guy!

Choice #1)
Email the guy back ASAP and ask him where we can get this free money? Is this Nigerian Currency?

:'( :'(

If he's got free money, quote the domain at $2,000,000,000. Tell the guy you've got a sick great aunt on your uncle's father's friend's side dying from air cancer and was wondering if you could give you some free money before she suffocates.

Choice #2)
Or tell him you're selling your all of your .fu , .bs, and .fubr domains, that your open to any price offers :hehe:

This could be fun!

I have received the same mail too. I asked her to make the first offer and received the following answer:

“need to know your asking price first. Please send it to me via email.

How do you prefer to get paid: www.PayPal.com, www.escrow.com, check or wire?

Looking forward to your reply.

Here is my address for domain transfer if we come to an agreement:

Sarah Murray
29, rue du Simplon, CH 1006 Lausanne, Switzerland
phone: 608 50 42”

I would have sent her another mail asking for the first offer again but I understood that it was a total waste of time.
