The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
And I have one more quiestion, did any of you guy's get an email like this:

One person is interested in my domain casinoplaza and in a joke I said I would sell him domain for $1000 but I know It's not worth so much.. and he aggred to this, but he want's an appraisal certificate from this specific site:
xxx.allfordomains.com

I don't trust this site and I think it's a scam, what do you think?

Here it goes,

2 days ago I put my domain for sale on Sedo. few hours after I got my first email:

Hello,

I'm writing regrading your domain listed for sale.

Have you received bids from other buyers?

Could you be so kind to drop me your asking price.

I run a software development company. Selling & buying names is not my main business. Just another way to invest free money and make some income.

Kindest regards,

Sarah Murray

Ph. D. President

NTT Software Consulting
-------------------------

And so I replayed very politicall:

Hello,

I didn't get any offer for now, but if you make one that I can't refuse, we can talk business.

Have a nice day,

Dusan R.
--------

They replayed :

I need to know your asking price first. Please send it to me via email.

How do you prefer to get paid: xxx.PayPal.com, xxx.escrow.com, check or wire?

Looking forward to your reply
-----------------------------

That was really suspicious why does "she" ( as you can se they used name Sarah, so we could trust them more ) want to know price first.

I set the price:

The price is $1000.

Have a nice day,

Dusan
------

And they replayed:

1,000 USD. Ok.

Do you sell a developed site or just domain name? If you don't have a site it's not a problem. I'm mostly interested in domain names without content.

Do you have an appraisal of your domain? I need an appraisal certificate for domain priced in your range. Domain name is an investment for me. I'm going to sell your name later and make a profit. If I overpay I won't be able to make a profit in the future. It's very important for you and me to know the current market value of your domain.

Please note that I don't trust free or cheap appraisals. So I cannot accept appraisal from each and every site.

To avoid mistakes I asked domain experts about reputable appraisal companies in an Internet law forum:
http://xxx.domaintalk.ourplace.com/Archive/21076.htm

Juck check this posting.

After I verify an appraisal from you we'll continue our negotiations.

How do you prefer to get paid: xxx.PayPal.com, xxx.escrow.com, check or wire?
------------------

Well that was even more suspicious, amature looking site, I HAVE to pay for an
appraisal certificate and then we can talk bussines?

The latest email from me to them was:

Dear Sarah,

I understand your concernes, but I don't trust this appraisals that are suggested in your post.

If I may suggest an appraisal that I trust:

http://xxx.sedo.com/appraisal.php3?language=us

That my offer, but you can still purchase my domain for $1000 with no certificate. I value it high, becouse I know it's worth $1000 even more.

PS:

If you have interests in buying domain names in future, pleas contact me, I have more domain names that I would like to sell and we can talk bussines some more.

To your continued Success,
Dusan

And the story continues...

they wrote me back:

Sedo is acceptable as a broker but not as an appraiser because your names are listed with them and they are not independent. They are interested in ovepricing in order to get a fat commission. I need appraisals from a company which is not interested in selling your domains.

what a bunch of crap :)

Just wanted to say, me being a newbie...i fell for it...i received the exact kind of email by a different person..with the same link included in the email...in this particular case I had already obtained an appraisal from sedo.com....and I sent the sedo appraisal to this guy and then never heard from him again...however, I did unfortunately take the recommendation that was posted in the link he sent and went to the allfordomains site and ordered 3 appraisals from them on different names...I was looking for recommendations for legit appraisals...and took their advice...after the third appraisal it dawned on me that there was no way my names were worth what they valued them at...every name came back worth thousands of dollars...and it took them only a few hrs. to get them back to me..after pricing them way below their appraisal value for sale and getting no interest and then posting on NP's and getting only reg fee opinions, i then realized something was wrong...they catch you because at least I always think my names are worth more than they actually are..and when you get something back from a company that you think is legit verifying a high price value..you think "Wow! I did good here:....WRONG! bunch of crap! I ended up spending more for the appraisals than the names are worth combined..but at least apprarently, not everyone is as stupid as I am...glad you didn't fall for it..

The thing is, that I value my names very high and I'm very stubborn person, I said to my self I will only sell casinoplaza for more then a $1000, anything else ... no way. But I know that so young domain is not worth more than $100 - YET!! :) I will wait for cuple of years 3-4 .. and we will value it again :)
I like to worke on my domains, so they become grand worth...

This guy is really a bastard, you should always ask yourself: "Why doesn't a guy/girl, who clames that thats his/her bussines, know the value of a domain. Just by looking at it and checking it for backlinks, type ins, overture keyword density ... he/she should value your domain and not demand from you, that you should pay for something, before you and him can sit down and make some bussines...

Always ask on NamePros if you received bids..
