if you are finding registrar with good service then go for hostgator.com, netlynx.com they provide good service as well as they provide you full control on your domain.
Name.com offers rather attractive prices, after comparing them with several other registrars. (I am not about to invest into the new gTLDs, but there are two or three odd domain names I would like to get, without investing much effort or money.)
so .guru and .bike are out and all 4 domain that I pre-register with name.com are taken by other companies...
godaddy take most of them.
hope for the best from name.com
Don't use Domainmonster. I registered an available one last night. They charged my credit card but in my manager tools it said it was pending. As of right now it still has pending. However, the Whois has some other shmuck as the person who got it. Get this, the creation date is today! An entire day after I tried to register it.

Before complaining about Name.com, check on which day the domain names you wanted have been registered. It was possible to use a early availability process, but at much higher prices. For instance, there was a .guru domain name I would have liked, it was already registered on Feb 2, but it cost the owner several hundreds dollars to register on that day.
The second name I wanted I could get without any problem through Name.com at the start of general availability.
