.asia registration at Moniker..

I just registered a .asia domain through Moniker. However, I noticed that they don't offer an administrative contact. I went ahead and registered anyway. Has anyone else done this? If so, what are the chances of having it taken away?

I tried to go through DomainMonster because that is where I normally go to register a .asia since they do offer a contact. After I noticed it was available at Moniker, I went to DomainMonster to reg it, but DM showed it as taken. I assumed maybe it was one of those names reserved by their government so I checked the WhoIS to be sure. It was not the case. It simply showed "No record".

This made me think that it is indeed available and that for some reason DM is just not up to date. In a hurry, I went back to reg it with Moniker anyway because I didn't want to take the chance of someone coming along and taking it before I could. It is a super term in my opinion.

My name and contact information does indeed show in the WhoIs records now, but I'm worried about losing it. Is it possible to find someone that can offer me a contact to use that way I know I am safe? I'm not sure how this all works.

You can always transfer it to yourself to domainmonster when you acquire the name.
After the 60 days Icann requirement ofcourse.

Are you sure its not available at domainmonster and available at moniker? maybe a typo? or mispelling etc,.!?

I can promise it wasn't available at DM and it was at Moniker.

The reason I believed that I was looking at a reserved name is because at Moniker "Hotel" and "Hotels" shows available, but at DM and other registrars it shows the WhoIs record as "This is a govt reserved..blahblah". However, the one I just registered did not show that WhoIs at DM. With my details now in the WhoIs I guess I officially own this name. I even went to GoDaddy to check their WhoIs records...my name is in it there too.

I thought of the idea of waiting the 60 days and transferring to DM, but I am scared to death that I will get in trouble for falsifying registration information before that time.

**UPDATE**
I just checked the WhoIs at DM and my contact info is there too.

Can anyone help me find an honest contact to use? If so, please pm me.

The Asia contact is iffy.
I wish they do away with that, so anyone can register and use. By having the contact requirement it limits others from using therefore is anti growth thing. I don't know what the registry people were thinking or who thought of such idea to limit others from using.

Maybe you can email the dot Asia people asking away with that. I tried emailing the dot asia people no respond over several emails.

I'm ok with that rule as long as I have a valid CED. I had heard before that people have gotten a valid CED by using their friends or some other person. Not sure about that though. If possible, I would love to find someone trustworthy that is willing to do it for me.

The name that I registered is friggin' sweet and I do not want to lose it.

Hey, A while ago, at Sedo they did not accept Dot Asia domains to be submitted for auction and are not even indexed so I created a site for Dot Asia. Upon many frustrations I have also created a petition to the Dot Asia Organization.

This addresses your concerns and mine. Please go to it and read and sign it.

Oh, ok, gotcha!

I sorted out my problem...I found a company online that offers a CED for you. So I paid and now I have real technical contact. I'm relieved!

Just go to www.cedsupport.com

You pay them a small fee, I only paid $3.94 through PayPal, and then you get the contact information. If you want to register a .asia name with a registrar that doesn't offer a contact, you can simply put in their information as your technical contact. I'm pretty sure though that you would need to pay the fee for every .asia domain you register.

After you have updated your technical contact information you then have to email them and let them know what the domain name is. I assume after that you are done!

I knew it...this is one of the issue I want to be rid off, middle man. Who knows if they would take your valuable domain at any time?

Those registrar that offer CED contact also jack the prices up too.

Which is why its important to spread the word about the petition.

By The way are you interested in EID.Asia a world wide muslim holiday? This domain will be up in a live auction at ITS.Asia very soon. A great grab. Starting bid is $1,000 USD and no reserve I believe. I am waiting for owner to confirm.

Interested? join in the auction.

I don't believe that they could refuse to take your domain when you are forced to buy the privilege beforehand.

I don't think I will take part in the auction, but thanks for the offer. I can only hope of one day being able to take part in auctions that start at $1k.

By the way, if you are interested to know the domain I have been referencing this entire time it is Soccer.asia.

I am already aware that it is called "football" in Asia, but one cannot argue that Soccer.asia is not well worth the reg fee.

Are you sure its soccer.asia? you are so right! I tried to register that via domain monster and it said taken....

Wow...unbelievable....There must be something wrong with Domain monster.

You want to put that up for auction too? put a time stamp on that ending in 2 months. Starts off at 1k. No reserve? Be my guest. I would be more than happy to have that baby on the site.

I would love to auction this off if I knew for sure that loads of people would see it and I could get a nice chunk of change for it. Right now I am still in shock that I have it.

The site opened August 5, 2008. Received 1,264 unique visitors in the 5 months period. With 50,722 hits for 2008.

For 2009 so far. 222 unique visitors and 5,411 hits for 2009.

A grand total of 1486 unqiue visitors and about 55,000 hits.
You do have domain audience at its.asia.

You have nothing to lose. Google bot and Yahoo Slurp are constantly on the site and the site is indexed by search engines. I will further improve it by adding a forum for Dot Asia only.
