As far as i know, .asia is not ccTLD, it is gTLD.

When i try to register .asia at Dynadot, i am asked to choose Asian country from which i am, and to write number of ID. As i am not from Asia, i stopped registration. Any experience with this?
And is it possible to reg legally .asia? Thanks

hi,

yes, this is the case with .asia domain registrations. a similar restriction applies also to .eu domains. so you can consider these two as semi-generic tlds. i registered some .asia domains before, and it was easy because my country has territories in the asian continent. nevertheless there must be a way around, and I really don't know wether they check those IDs or not. anyway the safest way is to find a real and trusted ID for sure.

cheers.

Thanks for your reply.
Anyone know some any way of legal registering .asia without involving some other person who is from Asia, as i am not? Thanks

I use DomainMonster for .asia domains.
They have an office in New Zealand so that info is used for the reg part where an asian address is needed.

Thank you. I opened an account there few minutes before so will try them. Just didnt liked that i had to type my credit card number just to open account, but heard for them many times so i believe i will not be scammed.

Thank you both, rep added.

Glad I could help.
If you don't like to make creditcard payments you can make a deposit (wire or so) which will be stored in your account.
Whenever you are charged for regs/hosting you can pay with this 'prepaid amount'.

Why should you be scammed. They are legit domain name registrar. I do not think you will have any problems with them.

It's actually good companies require credit card no.'s for registration.
This provides for security against scammers and fraudsters. Though obviously you shouldn't submit your info to untrusted websites.

Hi Mitok,

Did you have any luck with DomainMonster?

I'm also interested in buying .asia domains, but I'm not from an asian country either.
