Okay, I just landed this domain and Estibot has it valued at $62,000. I understand how Estibot works, so I don't want to get ahead of myself. Any appraisal thoughts on this one?

reg fee

It's a song title hence estibot loves the phrase, as it was a big hit for Oasis & all over the web. unless you are going to make a fan site (which you could not monetize) toss it back.

resist the urge to reg & spend some quality time reading the forum, your wallet will thank you.

best of luck

Reg fee? Really?

I understand it is the name of an Oasis song, but other than that, you don't think the words "Champagne Supernova" could have other value (such as the champagne industry)? Also, this term has an Approx. Search Volume (exact) in the Adwords Keyword Tool of about 8,000/month. I haven't come across too many domains in expired/pending delete lists that have that high of a number. The Average CPC is good, the Advertiser Competition is high, and there are over 400,000 Google results. Doesn't seem to bad to me, but I'm still learning. What are other things you look for when determining the value of a domain?

Any appraisal thoughts from others are welcome as well. :)

It was a popular song, but what end user would use it? It is two words that don't belong together otherwise.

You have a type of wine + a stellar explosion. It is really two random words together if you take the Oasis song out of the equation.

Google's Sponsored link search shows 1 advertiser for the term.
Google Keyword tool shows 8,100 searches a month for the exact term, all related to the song I am sure.

great name for an oasis fan site, but other than that it's pretty long

I'm just surprised Estibot would be off by this much. I understand their valuations are off by decent amounts sometimes and that you shouldn't base buying domains on them, but to be off by this much is pretty crazy.

Do you guys think that the domain could do well being parked since it gets some good search volume?

I have been offer mid $XX,XXX for a domain estibot appraises at $2500.

Then you have sentence fragment domains like "SoExciting.com" that estibot is tricked by. It is good to use for the data, not the final value.

What about the parking aspect? Do you think it could do okay being parked?

Sure you can park it and hope that Oasis fans take the time to type this in and type it correctly but its a real long shot that your will get traffic and clicks

If you see a reading of 62k the first thing you should ask yourself is why the heck isnt this already reg by someone, then do your homework on the domain. in this case its just because its a song.

Well, worth a shot. Registered it thru Dynadot, so I can drop it (grace period) and not really be out anything. You live and you learn. Thanks for the responses. :)

According to urban dictionary a champagne supernova is a martini glass full of champagne with cocaine on the rim, as salt would be on a Margarita. Very popular in the late 1980's an -90's. Sign me up for that domain lol This is why you do homework before you reg a name. Since all the no brainer domains are reg already, you generally have time to investigate a name before you reg it. Been a long time since i said to myself "i better reg this now before someone else does"

Sure, park it on Sedo or Parked.com for 3 - 6 months ... and see how it do, IMHO.
Reg. fee+ - Reg. fee+/+/+ in a super "Quick Sale" (to a domainer who is also an Oasis fan)! :music:

Best of Luck.
