Here we go again..

Not only Flippa is hosting another auction that openly violates TM and therefore their own policy...they are even sending it out in their emails!

WELL DONE FLIPPA!!!!!!

https://flippa.com/3500921-dell-wiki

And I really like what they wrote in the low right corner :

" Does this auction violate the Flippa Terms and Conditions?

If so, anonymously report it here."

I mean...what is Flippa there for? Just to take listing fees and success fees?

It seems the auction has been removed.

Truly speaking Flippa dont give much xxxx other than the listing and success fees. More so now they are under pressure from freemarket. But I wouldnt expect this from a company of their stature

It seems the auction has been removed.

Probably because I left a public message on the listing stating " this is a clear TM infringement "

What email did you receive? This auction clearly violated TM and should have been removed.

LOL..one of those YOU ( FLIPPA ) send out with new domains listed...

I don't know why but I am not surprised at all that you are surprised. Sometimes it really seems Flippa is just there to get fees from domainers.
Flippa is the only marketplace where YOU PAY TO LIST A DOMAIN AND YOU HAVE SUCCESS FEES ON TOP OF IT.
If it was to avoid crappy domains I could understand it but I am sure I am not the only one who noticed that quality of domains listed is going lower and lower also thanks to all the new cctld.

Poor filters options are just a bonus let alone the useless and unreliable appraisal service that people use simply to have free listings.

Flippa is really turning into a joke...

As has been mentioned on other posts, we're soon discontinuing the appraisal credit/incentive.

We do not charge to list your portfolios in our Portfolio section, which will soon have some massive changes to it. I see you, @photonmymind, have uploaded quite a few, yourself...

We still charge to send a domain to auction, and that is something we will consider changing in the future, as we hone-in on improved curation methods. We're also actively seeking changes to our layout and slate of upgrades.

Please keep in mind that while you may find us a "joke," we're working hard to listen to your's and others' feedback, to continually make improvements, and will continue to do so.

Flippa is really turning into a joke...

The funniest part is the seller is completely contradictory

Remember AppleTV.org was registered in 2005,2 years before the launch of the first AppleTV product, which was released on January 9th 2007.

Trying to convince people that there is no TM violation, and then he proceeds to fulfill all elements of "bad faith" under UDRP by saying

APPLETV NEW LAUNCH WHICH IS DUE ANY DAY NOW. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!IT WILL BE HUGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

I don't think you should bring my personal activity on Flippa here on NP. It is not up to you to share what I do or not. Just saying.

And, as you were so keen to point out, I am a Flippa user so there is no need to explain that you charge only to send domains to auction because I am fully aware of and that't what I was talking about.

Instead of reversing the thread on me why don't you guys just let us know how come that you seem to list TM domains way more than rarely? Beyond that...how come that they are even sent out in your emails?

we're soon discontinuing the appraisal credit/incentive.

we will consider changing in the future,

actively seeking changes to our layout

It is always about what you are going to do, about to do, searching, looking, seeking....

Auction's killed.

Also, the email you saw was automated -- not that that excuses us not catching this auction, but the point is...if you have issue with anything, just bring it to our attention. We're real people and are pretty reasonable!

We all are people who deal with domains on a daily basis here on this forum.
We all list them on different marketplaces and we are aware of pros and cons of each one. This is not a courtcase against Flippa but the fact that you fail about the basics sometimes leave me speechless.

Many other marketplaces automatically block anything that is a possible TM and the owner will have to go through a manual process to be able to list the domain. It makes me wonder why Flippa doesn't have anything like that in place.

You guys think that it's something against you but it's not. At the end of the day is your loss every time you disappoint those who are keeping your marketplace alive.

It's not easy to tell with ALL listings. Some are obvious, but not all. Best I think anyone could do is report what is found & remove it

Again, I appreciate your feedback, and again...we'll work on making these changes. You can personally hold me to it because I agree they need to be made.

@FlippaDomains is surely being beat up. Why not stick to constructive feedback on how they can improve their system to help you instead of attacking them? He is repeatedly saying the same things over and over to book long posts about how "crappy" they are, taking away from fixing issues at hand. In time, I'm sure it'll be fixed. However, I think it should be kept more professional than "Flippa sucks and someone didn't do their job because I got 1 TM in my email" type of comments. Rather, bring it to their attention that one slipped through.

They are conforming and I believe they could turnaround quicker if people griped instead of attacked. There's a huge difference.

Just my opinion and I'm not even a Flippa user.

First of all I have been the one posting a public comment in the dell auction stating it was a TM.
Second people have been pointing out Flippa issues or problems and domainers have told them repeatedly what, in their opinion, should be improved.
Number three you are not Flippa user so you might not up to date with everything.

At the end of the day if they want to be and remain competitive they will have to make those improvements that are taking so long to be implemented.

Sorry David, I think this tie your comment missed the target.

Keep in mind that I don't have to be a dedicated GoDaddy user to have a love hate relationship with them. I am a customer, I do hate aspects of their business, but they won't change their model.

Flippa is giving it a chance. Be constructive and help out so that they can put something on a whiteboard to improve the company with.

I'm not going to get in a debate about apples and oranges with you. I don't use Flippa, I know there are a lot of concerned users, but believe the way people are venting about the problems is just going to make change longer as it's taking away time from fixing the them, to fixing public relations first.

Put your points in bullets, don't write eBooks.
  • I saw a TM in my email, xxxxx.com. You should implement a filter so that TM's don't slip by as it's part of policy.
    • A response could be: We have a filter in place, that word is now being marked for moderation for review if our filter made a mistake.
    • Or: We will be implementing a filter as well as having a dedicated editor read over our newsletters before sending them out in masses.
  • Some users are getting what I see is unfair treatment as they are getting free credits for appraisals.
    • Sigh... I don't know how many times they replied to this grievance. Give it time. Think they work 24/7?
Obviously, the two concerns have been made and @FlippaDomains has tackled the issues over and over with unnecessary responses (I'd say reference post #XXXXX at this point). Let them have time to fix the actual business model, rather than PR. He would then need to reply with, "looking into all your concerns" instead of reading a book about how much you hate 1 thing and then writing a book in return.

That is all I have to say on the Flippa front.

Again, not endorsed by Flippa, not a user of Flippa and not affiliated with Flippa. Just believe that some approaches would be best in this situation than a barrage of complaints from a company who made a lot people succeed beyond what they could. How about a little praise? I don't see GoDaddy helping you out.

I agree with David Walker.
The title is about a "possible" tm issue. Then progresses to the above statement and more. Please show data to support this comment. I don't think it's true.
