Hello NamePros!
By popular demand, we have launched a dedicated feedback thread for Afternic, the GoDaddy-owned domain name marketplace.

We have created this thread as a way for you to tell us what works, what doesn't work, and what features you'd like to see at Afternic (please be constructive with your feedback). We're looking forward to hearing from the domain investment community to help us shape the future of Afternic.

We will also be sharing Afternic product updates in this thread.

Please note that this thread is not meant for support. Please email our support team at [email protected] for assistance.

We all saw and felt it happening. The 30% commission for boost and not using their name servers was the killer. They didn’t care until Atom and Spaceship stepped up their game. They still didn’t seem to care about domainers until we started moving blocks of names away from their DNS. Even though we’d be punished severely if our names sold at GD/AN but listed elsewhere, domainers made the moves. Momentum seems to be with Spaceship now. Atom is losing their advantage sticking with their 30% commission on premiums.
Atom is a joke, you get all those fake stats, like 1000s shortlists and views and not a single offer / genuine interest.

I'm pretty sure the shortlist numbers aren't genuine yeah.

What is weird with Atom is that you get shortlists when you have premium names, but not when you have standard. Anyway, Afternic still delivers more than all the rest together..

Personally for me I get zero from Afternic.

I get sales from wherever I set my landers to. At the moment it's Atom. I think the whole "premium" thing is a nonsense though.

Ultimately I think different marketplaces are right for different users and sticking with what works best for you is the way forward.

I think having gaps with no sales is just part of domain investing and we should not always blame the marketplace. Especially, If you have a small portfolio, you should expect to have gaps even for a few months.
In my not long domaining career, the longest gap was 6 months. Then, it became normal again, one nice sale every month or two. I have 500 names now and 80% of my domains are priced between 2500 and 20000.
With regards to the AN agents, I never felt that an agent changed the customer's mind and the customer bought due to the agent skills. Most of the times the customers bought directly or they were ready to buy and the agent just guided them.

@GoDaddy I sold my domain last month, but I have yet to receive my payment. Could you please check?

@GoDaddy Got one more sale today via your platform. Thanks.

Quick question. I have most domains pointing to BIN landers. Then how do these leads get created?

(It can't be via phone, because it's marked a low quality lead score). I have two such leads.

Is anyone else seeing this "Get a price in less than 24 hours" message on your landing pages -- instead of seeing the normal Custom Lander page with a price and/or Make Offer and/or LTO?

Congrats on the sale! The fastest way to get this resolved is through our Transaction Assurance team - they can check your transaction details. You can reach them anytime through the Message TA Agent box in your Sales Dashboard.

You can also connect with support via live chat at afternic.com/contact.

Payouts are automated, so delays are rare, and we're sorry you're experiencing that delay. The first thing to double-check is that your payout method is set up correctly. Once you’ve connected with the TA team, feel free to DM us here with an update.

Congrats on the sale - we love seeing those come through on Afternic!

Leads can come in through a few different paths, including our partners. In this case, it looks like it may have come from someone using the Request Price form directly at afternic.com/forsale/[domain]. That’s initial speculation, but it gives some context on how these low quality leads could be generated.

Could you DM us the domain? We’d like our product team to review it and explore whether any bot-filtering improvements are needed.

Hi Dane,
The Request Price option is being tested on the Custom Lander design - specifically for sellers who’ve chosen Request Price as their lander type.

We’ve reviewed several of your domains and can confirm that your Custom Lander settings are showing correctly. If you notice anything unexpected moving forward, feel free to DM us and we’ll take another look.

They are showing correctly now, yes. But when I posted this earlier, every domain I checked (maybe 12 or 13) was showing that "Get a price in less than 24 hours" page. And the vast majority of them were not set to Request Price, by the way.

@GoDaddy, Hi James,

Will these new "price request" pages work with self-brokerage?

Thanks

@GoDaddy - any chance of us getting a "heads-up" when you guys are running tests that change our landing pages without our knowledge? I wasted a good chunk of time both trying to figure out what was wrong AND trying to deal with the live Chat person who apparently didn't get the memo about this test either.

No one using Request Price anymore except the few domainers with dedicated brokers. So they made some changes.

Hi @Timkh,
It's the same as before: Self-Brokerage leads use Make Offer on the Custom Lander.

This is still the Request Price lander; we're just testing a different design.

Thanks for the clarification James!
I think it would be great if that lander was available with self-brokerage.
Many domainers used "Price request" pages on Dan.com.

A sale I made earlier this week completed the transfer successfully, but the payment hasn’t been sent yet. I spoke with an Afternic agent (Angel) who confirmed there’s currently a system issue affecting multiple accounts and delaying payouts. @GoDaddy

It's amusing that these "system issues" never accelerate payments and make things easier for sellers.
