Hello NamePros!
By popular demand, we have launched a dedicated feedback thread for Afternic, the GoDaddy-owned domain name marketplace.

We have created this thread as a way for you to tell us what works, what doesn't work, and what features you'd like to see at Afternic (please be constructive with your feedback). We're looking forward to hearing from the domain investment community to help us shape the future of Afternic.

We will also be sharing Afternic product updates in this thread.

Please note that this thread is not meant for support. Please email our support team at [email protected] for assistance.

So theyโ€™re essentially doing what Atom did

The question is :

The commission will be slightly lower than atom to attract domainers
Or
The commission will be equal or higher than atom cause this is a premium feature and we are afternic with a network of 26594698 partners

My guess is that Afternic/GoDaddy (finally) realizes that it can't continue with its bug-ridden outdated platform from the Stone Age, and that Atom and Spaceship (but also Efty) have become (are becoming) serious competitors.

They must have seen that people are leaving Afternic (or that the growth of newly added domains is declining), and because they are unable to change the legacy Afternic platform, they are starting a brand new platform that is able to provide the same sort of functionality as Atom and Spaceship. At least, that's what I think...

they are starting a brand new platform
Let's write the press release already.

"Why is competition so beneficial? Because it relentlessly challenges the status quo. At GoDaddy, we take this a step further: What happens when we task a completely different team with competing against the Afternic team's processes and services? The result is maximum innovation and efficiency across the board."

Will it support https?

Does it require DDC Pro membership, also for purchases?

Anyway, to "celebrate", I regged BoostedNames .com ๐ŸŽ‰

To add to this: in the past GoDaddy removed any competition by buying up any competitor (e.g. Uniregistry and DAN, which both had a far more superior interface). But this is expensive, certainly when you don't do anything with their technology/platforms. Moreover, another innovative competitor can pop up again the next day and the same issue remains. So the only answer is to innovate yourself, which is not in GoDaddy's DNA.

And they might feel the pressure of shareholders, who will likely not be happy with the stock being down 33% YTD, so they have to announce something "revolutionary"...

Probably will require DDC Pro plus Super Boost will need to be switched on. And you'll pay an extra 10% comm for domains listed there. Pretty much what you'd expect...

@Afternic

.app names using your sales pages do not resolve.

@GoDaddy When you feel the moment is right, we would welcome an update on the TLS issues.
Hi both,
Thanks for sharing this. We rolled out a series of updates earlier this week to address the issue. @Synozeer, we also reached out to you on X to confirm weโ€™d heard you and were already working on it.

Appreciate the feedback from NamePros, as always. If anyone continues experiencing issues with landers resolving, please reach out directly at jiles [at] godaddy.com.

Iโ€™m definitely in that camp. I no longer list new handregs (already 100+) on Afternic - it isn't worth the time, even 10 min. (I simply point them to a landing page).
There is no benefit to listing on Afternic nowadays: no views, no leads, no sales, and the domains don't appear, they are not discoverable at all. At this point, there is zero reason to use this platform.
Let them sell .shit and .fy extentions all they want.

Completely agree. Zero views on 170 domains in a year. No point.

4th October 2024 ------> 4th October 2025

A previously stalled lead, Email sent by broker on same date but after one year gap. ( Today ) .
Maybe afternic set auto notification reminder for leads when time passed one year for brokers to try again activate the leads !
If Yes, Why not every quarter or six month to try to activate leads !!? One year is so long .

.
AN said they get sales from those stalled leads. Not even a single stalled lead was 'reactivated' from my hundreds stalled leads.
It's been dead lately on AN, had only one sale in July.
Hopefully Spaceship gave me a nice sale in August to keep me going.

We all saw and felt it happening. The 30% commission for boost and not using their name servers was the killer. They didnโ€™t care until Atom and Spaceship stepped up their game. They still didnโ€™t seem to care about domainers until we started moving blocks of names away from their DNS. Even though weโ€™d be punished severely if our names sold at GD/AN but listed elsewhere, domainers made the moves. Momentum seems to be with Spaceship now. Atom is losing their advantage sticking with their 30% commission on premiums.
