Hello NamePros!
By popular demand, we have launched a dedicated feedback thread for Afternic, the GoDaddy-owned domain name marketplace.

We have created this thread as a way for you to tell us what works, what doesn't work, and what features you'd like to see at Afternic (please be constructive with your feedback). We're looking forward to hearing from the domain investment community to help us shape the future of Afternic.

We will also be sharing Afternic product updates in this thread.

Please note that this thread is not meant for support. Please email our support team at [email protected] for assistance.

Afternic has released a new column in the Portfolio view to check your domains are pointed to GoDaddy Aftermarket nameservers!

With the new GoDaddy NS column, you can confirm your names are pointed to GoDaddy landers.

This also comes with a filter option to quickly identify listings that are, or aren't pointed to GoDaddy Aftermarket nameservers!

Hmmm...looks to me like it still needs work @GoDaddy. (Not that I care. IMPO, I feel it's just another monumental waste of Developers time.)

Note: Although partially redacted, these are just a few of many that are using GD/AFT nameservers and have been for quite a while.

More importantly, if this sells at Afternic, would they use this flag to determine the commission rate, or do they check the actual name to see where it is pointed at the time of the transaction?

There's the question of the day.

I switch my domains around all the time, for example, if I have a domain hobo hitting me up with offers or I want to put a BIN on their MLS, then I often switch it to Afternic NS to get either more exposure or to use their brokers as a filter.

But if the domain ends up selling there and I get hit with 25% due to (more) shoddy programming from GD, then I won't be a happy camper.

This feature would be more useful if it were accurate. But, hey, another exclamation point level exciting feature from GoDaddy. Programming bonus? Check!

EDIT UPDATE: My GoDaddy representative confirmed that commission will be determined at time of sale and not be based on this new column. I trust his word but just hope the information flow to him is accurate.

Glad to have you back, James, and appreciate you having the team review this.

I hope all is well with you and your family.

I'd love to help shape a blog article idea around this.

Take Control of Your Portfolio with the New GoDaddy NS Column

Afternic is raising the bar once again for domain investors who want more clarity, more control, and more confidence in managing their portfolios. We know that every second counts when youโ€™re overseeing dozens, hundreds, or even thousands of domains. Thatโ€™s why weโ€™ve rolled out a brand-new feature in your Portfolio view: the GoDaddy NS column. This addition is designed to give you instant visibility into one of the most important factors influencing your sales performanceโ€”whether your domains are pointed to GoDaddy Aftermarket-supported nameservers.

With this new column, you no longer need to dig through DNS settings or run manual checks to confirm where your domains are pointed. The information is right there in your Portfolio, front and center. At a glance, youโ€™ll know which of your domains are optimized for GoDaddy landers, and which ones still need attention. Itโ€™s a small change with a big impact, because it puts the power of portfolio optimization directly into your hands.

But we didnโ€™t stop there. Alongside the GoDaddy NS column, weโ€™ve added a filter that makes it effortless to sort your domains based on their nameserver configuration. Want to see only the domains that are already pointed to GoDaddy Aftermarket nameservers? Done. Need to quickly identify the ones that arenโ€™t yet configured? Just a click away. This streamlined workflow means you can take action faster, make smarter decisions, and ensure your entire portfolio is aligned with best practices for visibility and performance.

Thereโ€™s also a direct financial benefit to making sure your domains are pointed correctly. Domains that use GoDaddy Aftermarket-supported nameservers qualify for a reduced commission rate when they sell. Instead of the standard commission, youโ€™ll enjoy a lower rate that keeps more of the final sale price in your pocket. By combining the new GoDaddy NS column with this commission advantage, you now have both the visibility and the incentive to optimize your portfolio for maximum return.

Why does this matter? Because pointing your domains to GoDaddy Aftermarket-supported nameservers ensures theyโ€™re displayed on landers built to convert. These landers are designed to capture buyer interest and make the path to purchase as seamless as possible. When your domains are pointed correctly, youโ€™re not just improving the buyer experienceโ€”youโ€™re also positioning yourself to maximize exposure across the GoDaddy network. Thatโ€™s a competitive edge you donโ€™t want to miss.

This update is about more than convenience. Itโ€™s about giving you the tools to run your portfolio like a pro. The GoDaddy NS column and filter put actionable insights at your fingertips, so you can spend less time on manual checks and more time focusing on strategy, growth, and closing sales.

Log in to your Afternic account today and see the new GoDaddy NS column in action. Use the filter to review your domains, take control of your portfolio setup, and make sure every name is working as hard as it can for you. With this update, Afternic is once again proving that weโ€™re committed to helping domain investors succeedโ€”not just with powerful sales channels, but with the tools and insights that make managing your portfolio easier, smarter, and more profitable.

Well, that right there is the death-knell for this feature for the average domainer. GD no doubt just got the idea to make it part of their Pro Membership (or whatever they call DDC now) - you know, that place where they put what should be standard features behind a paywall in order to keep their masters happy?...

.app names using your sales pages do not resolve.

The error in your screenshot indicates that this is an SSL issue (again).

The complete .app TLD is on the HSTS preload list, just like .dev.

As a result, all .app and .dev domains are always upgraded to HTTPS, and the landers cannot be visited by HTTP.

I think this is still related to the HTTPS issues in several AWS Edge regions, as discussed in this thread last week. With .app and .dev TLDs it's even more noticeable.

I just tested a .page domain and it had the same issue.

It's ridiculous that the world's largest registrar/hosting company constantly has these problems.

Agreed. The tech team is still investigating the root cause. There has been no update yet indicating that the issue has been resolved.

Curiosity question to @Afternic

As Godaddy is the operator of .club amd .tv registries why you do not add t oFT for more exposure.
All .tv and .club have the standard renewal fee while many gtlds have premiun fee, also 2 years now there are no transfer barriers for .tv
As you operate the registries obviously you have full contorl over these 2 extensions

Afternic fixed something, and now I can see my GD landers on Verizon, both phone and desktop -- where a day ago I could see them on Verizon ONLY if I used Opera browser and a VPN. Anyone else?

Testing with @Synozeer's .app domain, it's now working on https:// directly.

Can you confirm this for your AWS region, @Synozeer?

I tried a few of mine and they seem to load properly, and very fast as well.

I had sent Afternic support an email outlining the problem with those specific TLDs, and they replied last night that it was fixed. I checked all those names with issues and they are working properly now.

@GoDaddy When you feel the moment is right, we would welcome an update on the TLS issues.
