Hello NamePros!
By popular demand, we have launched a dedicated feedback thread for Afternic, the GoDaddy-owned domain name marketplace.

We have created this thread as a way for you to tell us what works, what doesn't work, and what features you'd like to see at Afternic (please be constructive with your feedback). We're looking forward to hearing from the domain investment community to help us shape the future of Afternic.

We will also be sharing Afternic product updates in this thread.

Please note that this thread is not meant for support. Please email our support team at [email protected] for assistance.

Interesting, though I have trouble believing some of that. Spaceship has 3mil DUM but AI reckons it has better brand trust than Atom and Dynadot. For comparison, DD has been around for over 20yrs and has 7mil DUM. That then makes me wonder if I should question some of the other comparisons...

I had a followup query on that. It believes Spaceship has a much higher end user client base vs Dynadot, giving non-conclusive evidence for the same.

Things like vat & crypto payments are objective though. VAT makes domains ~20% more expensive in many geos.

It's not. They consider all prices VAT excluded. So the seller has to request himself the amount of VAT in case of he has to remit ir to authorities. Completely crazy !!!! I paid to authorities more than 10k of VAT that sedo never gave me...
Ah!!

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't it more complex than that?

new wording
So, the new wording is 'this domain is for sale by the current owner'.

As opposed to being for sale by the 'previous owner'?!?!?!

Namecheap is now prioritizing Sedo listings when a domain name is listed on Sedo and Afternic.

https://domaininvesting.com/namecheap-prioritizing-sedo-listings-over-afternic/
Good Stuff (y)

Ya got free options that pass buyer info at 0% commission. Bodis, NamePros etc...
Subscription model at 0% commission. Efty etc...
SpaceShip @5%
Atom @7.5%
So there's 5 options outta many that pass the buyer info to the seller.
At least with Sedo you can see what's going on in the control panel instead of days of waiting for an Afternic broker to update things or never update it.
Negotiating with blind leads at 20-30% hasn't been for me for 23+ years of selling.
Afternic is nothing without domainers traffic so time to put that cocky 800 lb gorilla on a diet.

I've noticed when I type my domains in at GoDaddy that their AI is creating slogans for my domains. Hoping they don't generate a slogan already in use by another company. I know AI is the future but not a huge fan of it. I'm the guy that refuses to do self checkout at stores as well.

It's not good that NameCheap is passing would-be Afternic sales to Sedo. It increases my commission from 15% to 20%.

It's good for NameCheap and Sedo, but it's bad for domainers.

I agree 100%. When the blind lead the blind money is lost under the rug.

Don't understand the issues with Afternic. Even while continuously working on it without keeping it idle, still the login window pops up asking to login again, especially while working with pricing. Can this be resolved at the earliest. Thanks.

List your domains with Spaceship, point Nameservers there for verification, then point them back to Afternic. And enjoy lower commissions on next Namecheap registrar sale (y)

This really is an annoying issue, thanks for bringing it up. They have fixed session timeouts of 1 hour, no matter if there is activity or not. And if you work all day on it, you have to log in every hour, and if you have 2FA, after x amounts of login it does not even send the code to the phone number anymore because there is another limit on how many times they send to a number.
