Hello NamePros!
By popular demand, we have launched a dedicated feedback thread for Afternic, the GoDaddy-owned domain name marketplace.

We have created this thread as a way for you to tell us what works, what doesn't work, and what features you'd like to see at Afternic (please be constructive with your feedback). We're looking forward to hearing from the domain investment community to help us shape the future of Afternic.

We will also be sharing Afternic product updates in this thread.

Please note that this thread is not meant for support. Please email our support team at [email protected] for assistance.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.

As far as I know, NameBright is not a partner, and you cannot opt into FT.
Afternic partner but I guess no Fast Transfer. I have 3 domains at Namebright that are listed with Afternic and available to buy thru their partner network, Dynadot, Namecheap etc. I think Namebright is just a Standard Network partner, not Premium/Fast Transfer Network

I have opted for Afternic Boost. How often do keyword domains appear in search results? For example, if a user types "scale" on GoDaddy, does Scalej.com show up in the search results? If it does, how frequently?

I also have several domains with the agent.extension . I tried a few searches with agent keyword, but my domains aren't appearing. Does the price affect whether a domain shows up in search results? All my domains are parked at Afternic.

Many thanks.

Another issue. So issues here as well. So there was a lead from 2 weeks ago.

First, I changed over to Self Broker.

Then I noticed this one went to the Afternic Broker under the Brokered Leads link.

I click Needs Attention - nothing there

I click Sale Pending - nothing there

I click More/In Progress - nothing there

I click All - then I see it

Then, I never received an email on this. Any lead, Self Brokered or leads that go to Afternic broker, we should get some notice.
Hi @JB Lions,
To clarify, Self-Brokerage is available for domain names using the Custom Lander with the make offer option visible (once you've switched your leads to Self-Brokerage here).

In terms of communication, you'll receive an email for any new lead or message received through Self-Brokerage. This is because it's your responsibility to take action to accept, decline, or counter the offer you've received.

Brokered leads are handled differently (brokered leads can originate from the Afternic network, phone calls in to GoDaddy, or Request Price landers, for example). Since they go to the Afternic brokerage team, there's no immediate action required from you when the lead comes in, so we don't send an email notification.

Your broker will reach out with any important updates or offers for you to consider during the negotiation process. These messages are visible in the Brokered Leads section and will also be sent via email.

I just wanted to post a positive Afternic experience.

Afternic rep asks what I want for a domain. I quoted $8,500.

Later on in the day...

7:31PM - Congrats your domain sold email.

7:46PM - We are ready to transfer your domain.

7:56PM - Provided auth code at Afternic.

8:05PM - Your transfer is complete.

8:06PM - Your funds are on the way.

That's an efficient transaction.

Brad

I'm negotiating a name now, regged at Dynadot, and the customer asked if he/she could go thru Godaddy (Dyna has the mandatory deposit thing NOBODY likes) and I tried to create a link just now...this is what it says:

"Lease To Own is temporarily unavailable through Custom Checkout Link as we integrate it with our GD Cart. It will be back soon."

Maybe it is blocked because I'm not a Boost participant. If there is another way to create an LTO link for a 5% commission, Godaddy should let us know. It worked for me before.

Anyway, thanks for your response.
Hi @Mister Funsky,
Currently, Lease to Own isn't available via Custom Checkout Link, but we're actively working to reactivate this feature soon. We'll share an update here once it's available.

Regarding self brokerage.

When you get an offer for one of your domains, you get an email with a subject line that states:

Then when you open that email it states:

In my opinion, the subject line should be You have received an offer for whatever domain. Then the email should tell you what the offer is.

The buyer has not sent a message. Or responded to my inquiry.

Next if you get a rogue buyer...one where you have accepted their offer and they do not pay, afternic does not seem to do anything. You cannot see if any payment reminders are sent like you could at dan. Just nothing happens at all. And it stays that way forever. As a pending sale. No one does anything.

And before you can decline the offers, you must send a message.

At dan, at least they cancel the sale if no payment.
Hi @Bearded Goat,
You're right. We launched with a single email notification for sellers to expedite the release of the Self-Brokerage.

Since the launch, you may have noticed we've made regular, small updates, such as adding more buyer information. Starting today, for example, you can see when a buyer has viewed your message. We'll share more details on this later today.

Soon, we'll be releasing more email notifications for different scenarios, like when a new offer is received.

We're also planning to open up communication after you or the buyer has accepted the offer, allowing you to continue the conversation or request follow-ups.

Thanks for your feedback on Self-Brokerage; it's incredibly valuable as we continue to develop new updates.

Just a little update on my situation.

I'll start by saying I miss the simplicity of the checkout link...why Godaddy can't make it work baffles me...but not nearly as much as why they don't pull it completely. Leaving a dead option still visible and somewhat active makes no sense to me. If they have to leave the page up, there should be a link to where it now resides (or where the function resides).
Thanks for the update, @Mister Funsky. As mentioned earlier, weโ€™ll be reintroducing Lease to Own for Custom Checkout Links very soon.

The issue with camel casing being lost was never resolved. And still having โ€œyikesโ€ issues with login every now and then.
Hi Kyle,
We'll DM you.

@GoDaddy - do you have a full list somewhere of all the current Afternic partners?

I see this page - https://help.afternic.com/s/article/Afternic-Partners

I don't see Namebright on the list, so maybe that's not a full list?
Hi @JB Lions,
The link in your message provides an up-to-date list of Afternic partners. However, it's important to note that the list may not include subsidiaries or resellers of some brands.

@GoDaddy - the main issue I have right now is Iโ€™m not getting fast transfer opt in emails from GoDaddy. Iโ€™ve messaged Afternic support, messaged my GoDaddy rep.

This was for those names I mentioned earlier, the ones that vanished from my account and I added them back in and I tried a brand new domain last night. Usually, I get an email where I click the Authorize link, not getting anything now. These names are listed in my account, the landing pages work, they show up on partner sites like Dynadot, Namecheap etc but in my Afternic account on the domain page, it says Fast Transfer - Off

Iโ€™m not getting fast transfer opt in emails

Have you tried to select the names and then clicking the "resubmit listing" button down below?

Usually opt-in system needs triggers to work properly.

Exactly.

@GoDaddy Please fix as follows:
  1. CSV upload should check TXT/NS verification immediately, and (really) add all domains having successful verification records.
  2. CSV upload_results should not say 'ADD_PROCESSED' for domains that were not added. That's misleading.
This issue remains unresolved, unfortunately.

Thanks, just tried it with a couple to see if that does the trick

I was clicking the Set up Fast Transfer button on each page, that wasnโ€™t working. Then a brand new one from last night, usually a get an opt in email automatically pretty quickly, nothing on that one so far

I appreciate the response(s), but what I gather from other postings, it has been non functional for months. I feel like it's a 'hurry up and wait' situation.

A name was just sold and it was parked with LTO but the term of the lease is way too long...my fault as I entered (left in place) the wrong figures. But, I have to pay double commission...not making me happy...because the 5% link is defunct.

However, I pride myself on being a man of my word and I went thru with the transfer an hour from the time I got the email from Afternic assurance. I approved the transfer at/on: 10 May 2025 07:31am America/New_York.

Yesterday, I was getting ill at Afternic as I heard nothing from them so I sent an email...overnight, at 'May 13 at 3:15 AM' I get the transfer order from Dynadot.

For future reference, it would be interesting to know at which end the delay in processing originated.

Not a big deal really, as long as there is smooth sailing from here on out. The sales I had previous, using the checkout link, seemed to move along more quickly.

My poor names have been moved around so much in the last 2 years and it would be nice to find a nice safe and cozy place to leave them. Dan fit the bill...but oh well. I'm pleased at Dynadot for the most part, especially with my rep, but their increased first payment confuses the average person so I'm moving away from their landers for BIN. Might look into Atom...of course Godaddy/Afternic is an option but the 10% leaves a bad taste...a really bad taste when it is a higher priced name.

I know you have nothing to do with policy, programming, etc. at Godaddy, but it would be nice if we could get a a firm date, no matter how far out, when the dust will shake out and the platform is 'fixed'. I've got less than 2,500 names, but if the 5% BIN option does not come back soon, I've got to find another place to handle my transactions.

EDIT/ADD: The first payout arrived...fast movement once Godaddy got the name...still not sure where delay occurred.

Thanks to user feedback, we've just released three updates to Self-Brokerage at Afternic.

  1. Read status on your latest sent message
  2. Messaging is now available after offer acceptance
  3. Combined counter-offer and messaging

Delivered, to Seen
Self-Brokerage now lets you know when a potential buyer has read your latest message or counter-offer.This feature can help guide your decisions on how and when to follow up with your potential buyer.

Messaging after offer acceptance
Feedback from our sellers highlighted the value of continuing conversations with buyers beyond offer acceptance. This feature is now live for Self-Brokered leads!

Combined offer and messaging
If you send a counter-offer along with a message, it is now displayed in a single update, offering a cleaner UI for both buyers and sellers.

Thank you for your continued feedback on Self-Brokerage as we continue building features.

How about the ability to cancel the sale when the buyer does not pay. Right now it sits forever as pending sale.

Hello Afternic, I'm just wondering if I should have relied on afternic rep for a sale.
Last week I got a mail from an afternic rep concerning an offer on one of my domains listed for $5000. The mail claimed that the buyer offered $2500 and that they have been on a several talk with the buyer to increase their offer but that unfortunately this was the best they arr willing to pay at the time. I went ahead to counter and requested $3500 but since then nothing has happened again.
My question is, does afternic team first go into several negotiations with a buyer before contacting the seller? If so, I am worried that I should have gone with the offer even though the domain name is worth more. In this case, is there something I can still do to get the buyer to buy at their initial offer?

That method isn't working either, it's been about 9 hours.

If anybody else here has domains at GoDaddy and they've submitted them in the last week or today/in the future, let me know if you're getting the Fast Transfer opt in emails. I know for me it's been about 2 weeks not working, I think it was earlier this year that they were for me.

You get the opt-in emails when the 60-day transfer lock has ended.

No, I'm not getting any opt in emails. I don't move my domains over to Afternic until after 60 days.

These are domains I usually win at auction, they go to the registrar, usually Namebright.

When I can, I move them to GoDaddy where they sit for 60+ days. I park them to see which ones are getting traffic and such. After 60+ days, I set them up at Afternic with Buy Now Prices/Lease to Own.

In the past just submitting them to Afternic would automatically trigger the opt in email from GoDaddy. That's not happening anymore. Even the manual method of clicking the link on the domain page:

Fast Transfer Eligibility

Eligible

Set up Fast Transfer -----------THIS LINK
Fast Transfer Status

Off

Is not triggering the opt in email from GoDaddy

I can still set up Afternic landing pages.

They still show up at partner sites to buy or lease to own, like Dynadot, Namecheap, other partners.

But I guess if you buy, I have to transfer manually, not Fast Transfer. Because it says this on the domain page:

Fast Transfer Status

Off

Earlier this year it was all working smooth. I didn't notice any issues until about a couple of weeks ago.

It's been spotty past few weeks, not consistent, you are not wrong.

@Paul Nicks I just donโ€™t get why the first thing GD/AN ask a potential domain buyer, when they click on the Self Broker โ€œmake offer linkโ€ isโ€ฆ.do you want to buy this domainโ€?

Seems there should be better language likeโ€ฆdo you want to make an offer on this domain? Some may freak out and think they are paying full price for the domain. If they get past that, then they get the third degree survey! Just let them make their offer. I want to stay with GD/AN, but the roadblock for sales is making it hard.

If I remember right with Dan, they just clicked the link to make an offer. If they make an offer, it can be decided whether their finance choice like credit card or whatever is good or not. Competition is coming hard if common sense buy options are not changed to make it one click buy or make offer. Potential buyers need zero friction to the process.

Also, after signing on to the domain club and selling our domains without the help of a broker, commissions should be 5-10% lower for self brokerage. Thanks Tim
