Hello NamePros!
By popular demand, we have launched a dedicated feedback thread for Afternic, the GoDaddy-owned domain name marketplace.

We have created this thread as a way for you to tell us what works, what doesn't work, and what features you'd like to see at Afternic (please be constructive with your feedback). We're looking forward to hearing from the domain investment community to help us shape the future of Afternic.

We will also be sharing Afternic product updates in this thread.

Please note that this thread is not meant for support. Please email our support team at [email protected] for assistance.

no lto luckily

I'm negotiating a name now, regged at Dynadot, and the customer asked if he/she could go thru Godaddy (Dyna has the mandatory deposit thing NOBODY likes) and I tried to create a link just now...this is what it says:

"Lease To Own is temporarily unavailable through Custom Checkout Link as we integrate it with our GD Cart. It will be back soon."

Maybe it is blocked because I'm not a Boost participant. If there is another way to create an LTO link for a 5% commission, Godaddy should let us know. It worked for me before.

Anyway, thanks for your response.

If it doesn't work with Afternic, you can create a custom link via Atom at 4.5% commission, for both BIN and LTO sales.

I think the LTO temporarily unavailable message has been there since they announced the GD Checkout link was moved to GD URL's about 3 months ago.

just a reminder

I'm feeling extra dense this AM...so, is it accessible thru another place? I'm out the door as I'm late for a meeting...will dive in later. Thanks for any info

Why do domains go into pending review when GD sends their fast transfer email :penguin:

Question for those of you using Afternic self-brokerage. Self-brokerage is behind a $240 annual firewall and also incurs no less than 15% commissions.

Spaceship offers a new 24/7 self-brokerage option at 5%. What would be the loss to use Spaceship going forward (rather than Afternic)? Seems to me most traffic is direct type in anyway - right? Or am I missing something?

Godaddy should consider alowing every one to do the self brokerage regardless of the discount club subscription.

if they do that then they will not be able to continue increasing their annual profits by 9393939 trillions per year.

Regarding self brokerage.

When you get an offer for one of your domains, you get an email with a subject line that states:
You've got a message waiting from the buyer of whatever domain.

Then when you open that email it states:
Here's your message about whatever domain:
The buyer has responded to your inquiry. Click below to respond.

In my opinion, the subject line should be You have received an offer for whatever domain. Then the email should tell you what the offer is.

The buyer has not sent a message. Or responded to my inquiry.

Next if you get a rogue buyer...one where you have accepted their offer and they do not pay, afternic does not seem to do anything. You cannot see if any payment reminders are sent like you could at dan. Just nothing happens at all. And it stays that way forever. As a pending sale. No one does anything.

And before you can decline the offers, you must send a message.

At dan, at least they cancel the sale if no payment.

Just a little update on my situation.

I'll start by saying I miss the simplicity of the checkout link...why Godaddy can't make it work baffles me...but not nearly as much as why they don't pull it completely. Leaving a dead option still visible and somewhat active makes no sense to me. If they have to leave the page up, there should be a link to where it now resides (or where the function resides).

So, I was able to get the LTO function to operate (but not via a link), and a sale occurred not long after (mid x,xxx) but (I share this reluctantly...only to serve others) in playing with the term function, I left the option for the purchase to be spread out over MANY months...much longer than would be considered reasonable. A buyer spotted it and snapped it up shortly after I dozed off last night.

At least I will have some monthly 'dining out' money coming in...after all: A sale is a sale!

ADD: For the record, a couple of months ago, @GoDaddy reached out to help with info, which I appreciate, but that buyer walked due to all the confusion. Time will tell if the current buyer keeps up the payments...LOL.

So basically, Afternic is not offering a FULL self-brokerage system, just a reasonable facsimile.

So it's flawed?

So the $240 /year just to have access to Self-Brokerage is garbage?

Excellent question!

Tagging @GoDaddy.

The issue with camel casing being lost was never resolved. And still having โ€œyikesโ€ issues with login every now and then.

Just a very basic thing, I'm sure most have probably done this already but click the Export button under Portfolio - All Domains, much easier to see everything going on with your domains in your account. Looks like I have about 15 Opt-in Required that should have been opted in already for Fast Transfer. These names still show up on partner sites and such, but I guess if you get a sale, you have to manually transfer. So, I need to clean those up.

Still not getting opt in emails from GoDaddy for the ones I had issues with.

Side note, when checking 1 domain I have listed as Buy Now for $5,000, Dynadot has it for $4,950.

@GoDaddy - do you have a full list somewhere of all the current Afternic partners?

I see this page - https://help.afternic.com/s/article/Afternic-Partners

I don't see Namebright on the list, so maybe that's not a full list?
I am not sure if complete and up to date, but this shows which extensions are supported for Fast Transfer at which registrars.
https://help.afternic.com/s/article/Fast-Transfer-Criteria

(I think the ones in the link in your post are registrars that sell on Fast Transfer network, which is not identical to those which support FT when used as a registrar, although many the same.)

-Bob

PS thanks for the Export tip, that is helpful and I did not use before.
