Hello NamePros!
By popular demand, we have launched a dedicated feedback thread for Afternic, the GoDaddy-owned domain name marketplace.

We have created this thread as a way for you to tell us what works, what doesn't work, and what features you'd like to see at Afternic (please be constructive with your feedback). We're looking forward to hearing from the domain investment community to help us shape the future of Afternic.

We will also be sharing Afternic product updates in this thread.

Please note that this thread is not meant for support. Please email our support team at [email protected] for assistance.

I'm now seeing this if I haven't enabled LTO

Note the Buy Now price, LTO cannot be enabled. Who designs these things?

@GoDaddy Hello, what's happening with not being able to add .ai names to cart? Domains do show up on search but are not "available". (This is my domain, so I know it's for sale lol).

Hi @Blueleaf66
This was resolved earlier today by our team. Thank you.

.AI transfer prices (incl. 2 year renewal)

Spaceship $137.96 (=renewal price / 2yr)
Porkbun $144.49 (=renewal price / 2yr)
Dynadot $149.80 (=renewal price / 2yr)
Namecheap $179.96 (≈renewal price / 2yr)
GoDaddy $399.98 (=greedy renewal price / 2yr & additional $110 ”tariff”)

No sane person is selling their <$2K .ai domains on Afternic. Sure, savvy buyers can use partner registrars, but GoDaddy search path and AN lander sales are dead.

A buyer paying $1500 would pay the incremental $250 if they wanted the name. An investor wouldn't. But I'll bet buyers who are searching on GoDaddy are ready to shell out $399.98 for the poor hand reg anyway. And that's when they found the aftermarket .ai. So to them it's an apples to apples comparison.

That said, GD has lost their mind and I moved all my names away from them some time ago

This covers all new transactions at Afternic.

My last 3 sales went exceptionally smooth and fast from transfer to payout. Credit where credit is due.

Introducing a new domain sales closing experience at Afternic! Rebuilt from the ground up, our new Transaction Assurance (TA) system brings increased automation and improved processes, all within a new UI.

Read about this new update via the Afternic blog: https://blog.afternic.com/transaction-assurance/

What's new?

TLD and 60-day lock detection: Our new TA system brings detection of 60-day new registration locks, and TLDs that follow a different closing process.

Along with new system messaging are redesigned emails, bringing consistent communication via our UI, and your inbox.

I experienced my first sale today where the AN/GD system immediately recognized the 60-day lock. This sale happens to be LTO for a newly registered name at GoDaddy.

Afternic email string...

10:02 am - 60 day lock: TheSoldName.com

10:02 am - TheSoldName.com - Domain Delivery Instructions
This included link for information about obtaining auth code from GoDaddy which I submitted promptly.

10:03 am - TheSoldName.com has sold via Lease to Own at Afternic, congrats!

10:36 am - Success! We've received TheSoldName.com

10:36 am - It's happening: Payout on the way for TheSoldName.com

At 10:36 am, I also received an email from GoDaddy telling me that a product's been removed from my account.

Communications and actions were rapid. It would have been interesting to see how different the flow would have been if the name was not registered at GoDaddy.

"in California, we support LTO transactions up to $5,000"
- source

Uhh what?

Does this mean buyers in California can't buy LTOs priced over $5,000?

Looks like the Pricing AI was rolled out.

This is not true for the domain I tried, however.

It really just gives the same pricing as the estimated value.

Hello @GoDaddy
it's the second time that i sell a hand reg domain with installment plan on afternic and the sale is cancelled because auth code is still not available. (60 days lock)
why you don't get the domain by push in the current registrar in your Godaddy escrow account, and manage it for the buyer and then after the 60 days period is finished, you will be able to transfer it to Godaddy or wherever you want.
i'm very upset.. it's something very easy to do and you prefer to cancel sales.. the lease to own period is at least 2 months and after the two months the 60 days lock period is finished in 100% of cases.
Please do something about it
Please reply in Afternic official thread and also in PM because i often don't pay attention to notifications unless it's a private message.
Best regards

That's fantastic to hear, @domainer8888! The recent Transaction Assurance launch was a major upgrade, and we're thrilled to read about the positive experiences.

Congrats on the sale, Garet, and thanks for sharing your experience with the new TA system!

Hi @Yanosh,
As we mentioned via DM, the purchase link was sent to the buyer. Your broker will have made some follow-ups, as we aim to ensure all sales reach completion, but these may not be reflected in the Lead Center. We've shared your feedback with the sales team for review.

Looks like the Pricing AI was rolled out.

Hi @King,
Thanks for trying Afternic's Pricing AI! While GoValue is one of the metrics used, it also considers previous offers received at Afternic, leads (as you mentioned), and how your domain compares to similar active listings.

Please feel free to DM us the domain name, and we'll gladly check the background with the Afternic team.

Hi @NewDayBrand,
We're sorry to hear that. Lease to Own (LTO) domains need to be managed at GoDaddy while the LTO is active for effective management. We'll reach out to you via DM to get the domain name in question, so we can pass this information to our product team.

I understand
But not hearing back from the broker in 13 days after an agreed sale is kinda absurd, isn’t it?
No payment completed, no sale deleted
No response to my messages.
No updates
And by the way the domain is yet for sale , not on hold, even with an agreed sale of 13 days.
What if another buyer bought the domain meanwhile?
You too must agree that this is not the proper way to broker a domain sale.
