Hello NamePros!
By popular demand, we have launched a dedicated feedback thread for Afternic, the GoDaddy-owned domain name marketplace.

We have created this thread as a way for you to tell us what works, what doesn't work, and what features you'd like to see at Afternic (please be constructive with your feedback). We're looking forward to hearing from the domain investment community to help us shape the future of Afternic.

We will also be sharing Afternic product updates in this thread.

Please note that this thread is not meant for support. Please email our support team at [email protected] for assistance.

Perhaps @Paul Nicks could demonstrate some courage by addressing these long-standing issues, rather than secretly voting for his own company in the favorite registrar poll each year (which, by the way, hasn't helped GoDaddy rank in the top 5).

I've never felt like he was our ally or advocate in any way. It's a mining mentality. Extract. Don't build. Don't share.

If he has a choice of fix or Boost, I'm pretty sure that he would advocate increasing commission rather than fixing fundamental problems that negatively impact sales for everyone including GoDaddy. It doesn't seem rational or ethical but it is consistent with the GoDaddy way.

GoDaddy seems to work against shared interests. Arrogance. We (sellers) want to optimize sales. GoDaddy seems to want to inflict counterproductive policies. It's not rational. It is arrogant and destructive.

Failure to correct something like bad text on a lander is not a technical issue. It reflects fundamental defects and shortcomings.

GoDaddy has market share. It's expensive as a seller to not have our names available in GoDaddy's search path. If that ever changes, the exodus will be massive and well deserved.

Happy new year, NamePros! In case you missed it, we recently published a round up of some of the most significant releases and updates of 2024. Take a look!

Hi @silentg,
Existing leads are typically reassigned or handled by another broker to ensure coverage.

Hi @DomainRecap,
This is the phrasing that Dan.com used on its lander, and we're using the same. We will share this with the team once again.

Hi @coldfiire,
To maintain full control of our TA process, domains will be transferred to the buyer within GoDaddy. Once any applicable transfer locks have ended, the buyer can choose to transfer the domain elsewhere if needed.

Hi @freety85,
GoDaddy doesn't support the .fi or .ae extensions, so they won't be eligible for the Custom Checkout Link process. You can view the 548 extensions supported by GoDaddy here: https://www.godaddy.com/domains/gtld-domain-names

Hi @Kokoro
Thanks for your feedback. It's something we'll be looking at implementing this year. In the meantime, the Bulk Upload template may help to streamline your management of multiple domain types or sections of your portfolio.

Hi @DomainRecap
We're still on track for Q1!

You can create a Custom Checkout Link below your minimum offer value without changing your externally-set values, as long as it's $99 or higher. The Custom Checkout Link supports Buy it Now sales of $99 or more.

Hi @newdomainernow,
Once the .now extension is available through GoDaddy, we'll look into adding it to Afternic.

Hi Brad,
It's hard to determine the issue from the information provided. It could be due to an invalid auth code, for example. Please feel free to DM us the domains in question, and we'll connect with the TA team to assist you.

GoDaddy is not a technology play. The technology is weak. GoDaddy's strength, as I see it, is 100% based on market share, mindshare, and awareness. Does anyone have good numbers for the trends on that front? Domains under management as a percentage of total market year over year? Availability searches year over year?

I suspect that current management has not grown market share after Parsons' departure. If they have, kudos to them in spite of other missteps. The market will be healthier if GoDaddy loses market share and the power that comes with it.

Still waiting on the second transaction.

In the meantime, I bought another Afternic domain via @GoDaddy tonight.

13 minutes later I received the "Your domain transfer request is complete." email.

The domain somehow made it from Sav to GoDaddy in that period of time. Impressive.

It almost took longer to add the domain to my cart than receive it.

The domain I want appears on Afternic but there is no option to buy it. How can I contact the owner of the domain about this?

I found out that the buyer of the domain is an active member of the forum. I guess he didn't see my private message. Mr. David, I'd like to contact you @davidc1

It should be noted that uploading with .csv actually goes smoothly and without any issues.

@GoDaddy

When a domain gets sold, a notice appears on the main dashboard.

There's a button "View Listing", and it goes to the overview at https://www.afternic.com/sales?filter=AWAITING_AUTH_CODE

However, the filter doesn't work, and the URL shows ALL past sales, not only those awaiting auth code.

Suggestion

From the dashboard, link directly to the individual domain that needs action, like: https://www.afternic.com/transactions/<unique_transaction_id>/details

@GoDaddy, some names that were sold months ago are still appearing in your reg path search.

Please fix.

Afternic drives me crazy sometimes - I looked through my negotiation list and there are a couple of counter-offers I sent around Christmas that have just been sitting there. You can throw those transactions in the toilet now, as the 'buyer' is probably long gone or thinks I'm a major a-hole for wasting his time.

I *really* hope the GD devs are working overtime on that Self-Brokerage Tool, as I'm losing way too much money on Afternic to take this much longer.

I made another sale via @GoDaddy broker. $5K for a 5L .net.

I can't really see what is going on behind the scenes, but several leads converted into sales lately. Also, some normal non-boosted priced sales.

I am still waiting on the self-brokerage tool though. I have thousands of domains sitting on the sidelines, that are not listed on Afternic at all.

Hi everyone, today I tried to purchase a domain through an Afternic landing page, but it doesn't seem to work as it shows a blank page with the message 'Error occurred processing link.' I tried with other domains and different browsers, but I got the same error.

Has anyone else experienced the same issue?

I tried a few of mine and I was able to get them to Cart no problem using FF, Chrome and Edge.
Thank you. Now it's working. Maybe It was a temporary error.

I have seen this in the past. Possibly an extension they don’t support like .fi. Or a regular bug.

@GoDaddy, I’ve encountered an unpleasant situation several times after raising prices on all my domains listed on Afternic with Fast Transfer enabled. A few weeks later (and once even 3 months later), my domains were sold at the old prices, which were lower than the prices set at the time of sale.

Afternic support claims that these domains were sold 2-3 weeks earlier, but due to some issues with their partners, the payment was delayed, and as a result, the domains were transferred weeks later at the old prices.

I plan to increase prices on some domains soon and want to avoid repeating this situation. I kindly ask you to publicly provide a step-by-step algorithm for increasing domain prices that will prevent the situation where domains, listed with Fast Transfer enabled, are later sold at outdated prices and transferred unilaterally due to delays in processing by your partners.

Thank you in advance!

This is mainly why I do not enable Fast Transfer on any domains.

I don't think when I last looked that they provide any ToS or timeframe for price changes to be rolled out - not changing prices is essentially permissible.

I found domains listed at Afternic at prices I had changed months before - I had the spreadsheet downloads to prove it.

Non fast-transfer domains reach most Afternic partner sites, according to their own published lists of sites, so a tiny and probably insignificant gain in reach does not justify the big risk and aggravation that comes with Fast Transfer.

Hi, thank you so much for sharing this. Usually, when I change prices, after 3-5 days I check whether the changes have taken effect at all major registrars. That is, I enter each domain on GD, Namecheap, NetSol, etc. It takes a lot of time and seems crazy, but unfortunately I have to do it. But I couldn’t even imagine that prices could return to their old values months later. Thanks again. This is valuable information.
