Hello NamePros!
By popular demand, we have launched a dedicated feedback thread for Afternic, the GoDaddy-owned domain name marketplace.

We have created this thread as a way for you to tell us what works, what doesn't work, and what features you'd like to see at Afternic (please be constructive with your feedback). We're looking forward to hearing from the domain investment community to help us shape the future of Afternic.

We will also be sharing Afternic product updates in this thread.

Please note that this thread is not meant for support. Please email our support team at [email protected] for assistance.

When will you get rid of your nameserver penalty ?It's 3% to use sedo when you use their external transfer .

@GoDaddy
On a LTO, under status when it says "payout in progress"
I assume this means Godaddy/Afternic has received payment for that month.
However, payments still sent out the same time every month, in this one case, Jan 7th.

Not that big a deal, but why don't you send out payment as you receive them?

GoDaddy checkout links use GoDaddy URLs rather than terminated DAN. Impressive. That bar is set very low for GD tech celebrations.

GoDaddy is incredibly proud and all puffed up to announce that bulk search sometimes works. Other basic functionality as seen elsewhere circa 1998 is possibly coming soon!

Please excuse my exhaustion from GoDaddy congratulating themselves for occasionally achieving basic functionality.

Your broker Matt R ,blew a small $5,000 sale for me this year .

Didn't reply to my messages for 3 days and then replies back that he apologizes that he was travelling .

Why didn't he simply hand off to his supervisor or manager?

I told him to never handle any of my leads but it's ok ,I stopped using your NS and namepros lander is my go to .

Thank you namepros .
Hi @Skyvisum
We'd like to investigate this further. Could you DM us the domain name?

I'm sorry to hear that. I'm experiencing the same thing right now. Almost 9 days ago, a lead was created for a $20k domain. Broker Patrick P. hasn't bothered to make a single call or send a single email to the buyer during those 9 days.

My actions:
1) I've sent two messages to him. The first one a week ago. No answer.
2) Sent a private message to @GoDaddy 6 days ago. No answer.
3) Sent emails to support@, service@, and ta@afternic as I didn't know who deals with the brokers. Service@ responded that they have relayed my concerns to the broker, and that he will follow up with me asap. A day later and broker Patrick P. has still not responded.

What do I do now?

After 9 days of inactivity, the lead is dead, and I'm angry. What's the point of listing my domains with Afternic when the broker just doesn't give a shit?
@DrJacoby, this needs to be investigated. Please could you DM us the domain in question?

@GoDaddy

Why is it that you can register a .living tld at Godaddy but you cant list it on Afternic?
You get an error saying this TLD is not supported.

Will AN support this tld anytime soon?

Thanks
Hi @lennco
Since the TLD is available at GoDaddy, we should be able to add it to Afternic without any issues. We'll follow up with the team to confirm.

@GoDaddy I'm finding that the surveys I receive are coming in a few days after the initial query has been addressed. By this time, I've often forgotten the details of the case, making it challenging to provide accurate feedback. Moreover, the login requirement to access the survey frequently results in an error message. I'm eager to contribute to the feedback process, but it would be much more efficient if the survey could be accessed without logging into Afternic or requiring significant effort on my part.

I've been having the same issue ever since I used Afternic. When I click the link of the survey in the email message I receive from the support team, I always get the same error message "You have either already completed the survey or your session has expired,"

My workaround has been opening the survey link again but in incognito mode and it opens without having to log in. On the other hand, the surveys coming from the TA team are always open with no problem.

@GoDaddy Please consider fixing this issue in future updates and adding a reference link to the case number in the survey email.

Thank you!
Hi @freety85 and @Maged Khatab,
We'll reach out to the support leadership team to look into this matter further. Feedback is hugely important, and we want to hear your experiences with support. We'll make sure this is investigated.

Hi @Mikeyboy,
We transitioned to a predictable payout schedule as we scaled Lease to Own in 2023. This expansion went beyond landing pages to include global integration with GoDaddy search. To optimize the service, we introduced the payout schedule.

@GoDaddy what happens when a broker takes a vacation? Do other broker or lead broker take over the deal?

@GoDaddy - it's been said many times, many ways... but I though I'd chime in yet again.

On a pure Buy It Now Custom Lander, the 'call to action' text still reads as:

"Pay the full $X,XXX now to make it yours!"

The full? I realize what you're doing, as it's an attempt to use a 'one size fits all' text field for everything (i.e. for BIN+LTO and BIN+Offer listings) but this looks stupid and sketchy as hell, like something is incorrect or missing.

When the BIN option is selected in the Custom Lander, it should read:

"Pay $X,XXX now to make it yours!"

I got a few emails from a broker yesterday who was filling in for my Afternic rep.

However, I have no idea what happens to existing negotiations. I have a feeling the process is not very streamlined to hand leads off.

Also, I ordered a couple domains a few weeks ago on @GoDaddy (Afternic listings).

They were the same term in .net and .org. Both owned by the same party.

The .ORG was delivered. Nothing is happening with the .NET.

I checked on the status with my GoDaddy rep last Wednesday and there was supposedly some glitch that was going to be resolved. Still no progress on that.

Also, both my GoDaddy and Afternic reps have been out of the office recently so it makes it harder to get updates.

Brad

I've been looking to conduct outbound emailing for some of my names and part of that has involved looking at what other extensions are registered and of those what are developed. A large percentage of the names I've checked have been for sale, mostly through GD/AN. The landing page loading times range from 15 seconds to over a minute to never (a concerning amount of nevers).

Come across a rare namecheap, 123reg etc and it's pretty much instant.

It's gotten to the point where when I hit enter if I see about/blank in the address bar and nothing happens for 20 seconds I know it a GD landing page. If I was a buyer I would have bailed on at least half these names.

Next update, they'll boast about how much faster it is. lol. Afternic/Godaddy is running a psyop on us.

Can I understand that AN is responsible for the seller, GD is responsible for the buyer, and Dan is completely eliminated!

Any EU sellers here that withdraw their funds to Paypal? What are the PayPal fees per transaction?
Alternatively, what's the cheapest way to withdraw funds from Afternic for EU sellers?

I think it's paypal. Transfer wise is a good option too but you can set it up as payout method only if you are resident in Belgium.

Thank you brother. Do you happen to know the Paypal fees? I was trying to figure it out, but there seems to be many variables, depending on where it's sent from and how... I've got some LTOs that I'll be collecting monthly (unless I have them held and request payouts once in a while), so I'm trying to figure out the best way to do it.

@GoDaddy Using the GoDaddy links now ( custom checkout ), will the buyer have the option to choose which registrar they want to push or transfer the domain to, or will it only support a transfer to GoDaddy?

There might be crossborder fees as well etc... that's why I'm asking what it is in practice, rather than theory. Thanks though.

Am I the only one who finds even 3.49% to be pretty ridiculous as the best option? Afternic already takes 20% if you're using their nameservers, then another ~5% to get the money? 😶

Are there boosted domains included in the main results as well?

I tried to type some boosted domains in the main search results without the TLD and they don't come up. Only if you enter the exact match they show up. So boost is a waste. A bunch of other random domains show up with extensions I never even heard of.

No paypal fee, you only pay fees when you convert in your currency

This is positive news! I believe this solution could be beneficial for many who currently engage in outbound marketing or lead collection elsewhere, but their buyers prefer the familiarity of the Godaddy brand.

However, unlike the traditional Dan checkout process, this solution currently lacks support for domains in unsupported extensions such as .fi, .ae, etc. This results in the same checkout link error as a standard purchase through a landing page. I initially reported this issue in August, and despite five months having passed, this cart issue remains unresolved. In contrast, for these same domain names, the LTO checkout functions seamlessly.

also any update on this topic please from dev team? This was raised in August already.

I believe this is not related to the fact the extension is not supported at GD, since if you add the very same names as LTO, it checks out just fine....

Show attachment 265459
This is for an .ml name actually

Show attachment 265460
Therefore I am wondering why the cart does not resolve the same way for the full BIN price and gives checkout error?

Thanks for further escalating this topic for resolution
Could you please provide an update on this matter @GoDaddy ? It is perplexing that the development team cannot replicate the successful functionality of the LTO checkout process for purchases made with BINs
