Hello NamePros!
By popular demand, we have launched a dedicated feedback thread for Afternic, the GoDaddy-owned domain name marketplace.

We have created this thread as a way for you to tell us what works, what doesn't work, and what features you'd like to see at Afternic (please be constructive with your feedback). We're looking forward to hearing from the domain investment community to help us shape the future of Afternic.

We will also be sharing Afternic product updates in this thread.

Please note that this thread is not meant for support. Please email our support team at [email protected] for assistance.

I tried to type some boosted domains in the main search results without the TLD and they don't come up. Only if you enter the exact match they show up. So boost is a waste. A bunch of other random domains show up with extensions I never even heard of.

Most of our domains doesn't show up in results , They trapped us with the boosting story and they changed the results algorithm in favor of marketing the new crap extensions .

Dan shutdown + boosting + afternic lander = Big drop in sales for most domainers .

Yeah. It looks like boosted domains show up in the aftermarket but not the main search results. Most buyers have no idea what the aftermarket is, so boost is useless.

I regret wasting my time with Boost. I feel like Godaddy blatantly lied to us about the increase in visibility. Outside of a few well known domainers with relationships with Godaddy brokers, domain sales have been abysmal with Boost. I think after a full year, domain investors will abandon it. Godaddy will counter everything I just typed and say "Boost is going well".

@GoDaddy Using the GoDaddy links now ( custom checkout ), will the buyer have the option to choose which registrar they want to push or transfer the domain to, or will it only support a transfer to GoDaddy?
This is a very important question, but I guess if it weren't for monopoly, they wouldn't have acquired Dan, so I tend to say yes. They only allow transfers in and out at Godaddy

This is positive news! I believe this solution could be beneficial for many who currently engage in outbound marketing or lead collection elsewhere, but their buyers prefer the familiarity of the Godaddy brand.

However, unlike the traditional Dan checkout process, this solution currently lacks support for domains in unsupported extensions such as .fi, .ae, etc. This results in the same checkout link error as a standard purchase through a landing page. I initially reported this issue in August, and despite five months having passed, this cart issue remains unresolved. In contrast, for these same domain names, the LTO checkout functions seamlessly.

Could you please provide an update on this matter @GoDaddy ? It is perplexing that the development team cannot replicate the successful functionality of the LTO checkout process for purchases made with BINs
@GoDaddy .fi, .ae

Yes they lied with false advertising. The only thing they did give was the verified checkmark.

Interestingly found this on X. Over 200 likes. Something about the Afternic brokers doing a horrible job following up on inquiries. 2-3 days with no follow up. Afternic Boost is either ROBUST or A BUST. I'm with the latter. Btw, Happy Belated Holidays.

Dear @Afternic,
Your brokers' delays are causing us to lose sales!
Waiting 2-3-4 days makes buyers lose interest.
The faster you act, the more deals you can close.
Please find a solution or allow us to negotiate on our own.

I suspect that the lion's share of the problem is GD management rather than the individual brokers who are likely spread too thin. If the structure and support for brokers is at the same stellar level as it is for us as sellers, I call out bad management and a corporate culture that ignores fundamental flaws while patting themselves on the back for doing such a great job.

The dysfunction we see in the technology is a reflection of management dysfunction. They think they know better, fail to listen, and don't really care.

That said, yes, there are both good and bad brokers.

Looking at the volume of reported sales from Afternic on Namebio, I would not be surprised if GD pivots and AN goes bye bye. imo

AN don't report sales so they only show up if the seller reports which is a tiny fraction.

@GoDaddy please ask dev team to fix this.

Custom lander : not supported extensions like .fi, .ae, .ml etc when you click on the buy now button it gives you an error :

Show attachment 260849
On the other hand when the Afternic listed not supported extensions searched at Godaddy reg path it shows as unavailable.

Show attachment 260850
This way you will have hard time to facilitate Afternic purchases on these extensions, the current only solution is to use price request lander so the broker can make buyers go through the checkout process. Thanks
@ freety85 @GoDaddy ,

For extensions e g .fi, .gr, .ml etc not supported by GoDaddy, what lander do you currently use on Afternic?

Or how were you able to find a solution to it?

Cause buy-it-now lander does not add to GoDaddy cart for extensions not supported by GoDaddy.

For now you have two working solutions: price request lander which I reckon works somewhat better than custom lander with only maker offer enabled. You can also set the custom lander with the BIN, LTO and make offer enabled whereas the BIN checkout won´t work at all, only LTO and they will still be able to make an offer. I would not recommend this option though.

Hi @Domain Pro Seller
Please reach out to Afternic’s support via afternic.com/contact, and they may be able to help you.

@GoDaddy When will I finally have the option to change the username I thoughtlessly entered on Afternic when I became a member? This prevents me from sharing my portfolio on Social Media because inevitably the username will be visible. Godaddy and Dan have this option but Afternic does not. Since Afternic is also "A GoDaddy Brand" we should have the option to change it if we want to.
Same problem here. I NEED to change the username in Afternic.

I emailed Afternic and they told me there is NO option to change username at present... for "security reason".

I miss Dan...:xf.cry:

Hello everyone! We'll be back with responses to your questions tomorrow, but for now...

As the year wraps up, we’ve been busy with another exciting update!

You can now close externally-negotiated sales through GoDaddy for just a 5% fee (minimum $15)! Custom Checkout Link is moving to GoDaddy URLs!

https://blog.afternic.com/custom-checkout-link-update/

Why are boosted domains listed in the aftermarket but not in the main search results?

you mean they appear as taken in the main search result?

For me currently the aftermarket tab is not even visible...

They don't show up at all in the main search results unless you enter the exact match with the TLD. If you don't enter the exact match it will not show up. They show up in the new aftermarket section. Most buyers have no idea what that is so boost is a waste. Just other domainers will probably look there.

@GoDaddy
Yes exactly we need logical answer for that ?
Most buyers will not go to click on aftermarket to search there, if our domains are boosted it must show up in results everywhere without limitation .
