Hello NamePros!
By popular demand, we have launched a dedicated feedback thread for Afternic, the GoDaddy-owned domain name marketplace.

We have created this thread as a way for you to tell us what works, what doesn't work, and what features you'd like to see at Afternic (please be constructive with your feedback). We're looking forward to hearing from the domain investment community to help us shape the future of Afternic.

We will also be sharing Afternic product updates in this thread.

Please note that this thread is not meant for support. Please email our support team at [email protected] for assistance.

I'll sleep better keeping my names pointed at Dan until they're killed off. I have no faith in Afternic anymore.

Is there any way to collect money from sales either every 14 days or whenever my threshold reaches $1k for example?

These days, both Afternic and Godaddy show me the German version.

Anyone having issues logging into Afternic? Previously I used Sign in with GoDaddy but sometime, that did not work and I used a username instead. Today I cannot login and a reset password email never comes. More alarmingly, Find Username says that my username which I used last week is not in use.

I knew they charge taxes on all the purchases. Didn't know they charge tax and take it out of LTO payments. Those migrating from Dan is going to get hit with this.

@GoDaddy @Afternic @DAN.COM

I'm going to keep asking this until I get a reply:

On October 16 when Dan is decommissioned, will the Dan.com nameservers be merged with the Afternic.com nameservers so that Dan customers with large portfolios won't have to manually change the nameservers on thousands of domains on order to point to Afternic landers?

This question is NOT answered in the Migration FAQ and someone should update this document with a firm and simple Yes/No answer on nameservers and take out the totally off-topic crap about which Afternic lander looks the best.

Thank you.

Few more fresh bugs the devs have snuck in there lately:

- when adding domains, mobile view is messed up again -- the 3 dots to add pricing require scrolling sideways to see, when you click the 3 dots the popup window appears miles up screen and you need to scroll up to find it, once you find it the domain name is cutoff and only shows the first10ish letters
- turning on lease to own when adding a name doesn't work.

I'm sure there are more easter eggs in there for us to find!

I still need to catch up on the last few pages but -

Afternic shuts down search.
Dan.com shuts down search.

How are you supposed to find what you are looking for, simply rely on the amazing "suggested" feature?

In the past I have bought many new Afternic/Dan listings that I found via ExpiredDomains.

I have done keyword and format searches for specific things.

Now, that is going away.

How is the lack of search going to yield anything but less sales?

Josh Reason is launching what looks to be a site essentially replacing this missing search functionality.

Insane that we need 3rd parties to fill gaps that were PERFECTLY WELL FILLED just moments ago.

My domains are listed at Afternic but I'm done pointing anything there. NamePros, Efty, Sedo, Atom have an advantage over Afternic in that they actually work without 9 million frustrating bugs. I don't have time to click all my names every week to see how many go to a broker page instead of the lander I selected or constantly contact support to remove domains from "In Review". Makes no sense a company of this size can't even get a simple sales page to be consistent. Afternic won't be stable when they pull the plug on Dan, hell Afternic been in Beta Mode for years now, might as well label it Permanent Bug Mode. Shocked anyone can tolerate this anymore as the #1 way to sell domains is to have an actual error free landing page which Afternic comes in last place on.

As of 14.09.2024, the problem still hasn't been fully resolved. The price for the domains (instead of broker services) is now displayed correctly on the GoDaddy website, but the correct landing page for many domains still doesn't function. I changed the nameservers for 50 of my domains to Afternic (ns1 and ns2) for testing, and for exactly 10 out of those 50, the incorrect landing page is still displayed: either the page 'This domain is registered, but may still be available' or a page with 'Get a price in less than 24 hours,' instead of the Custom Lander with Fixed price.
As of September 24, 2024, the issues still have not been resolved. Moreover, today I received a message from Dynadot stating that my domain was transferred out because it was sold on the Afternic marketplace. The domain had been in "On hold" status for over a week. When I logged into my Afternic account, I discovered that the domain had been sold, not for $5,888 (the price I had set when these issues with Afternic began, around September 5-6), but for $1,988 (the old price set when I first decided to try using Afternic instead of Dan in mid-August 2024).

The Afternic dashboard still showed the $5,888 price for this domain (the domain is mozk dot com, if anyone is curious). I even have a CSV file downloaded on September 21 from Afternic, which clearly shows the domain listed at $5,888 with the "On hold" status. To make matters worse, they took a 25% commission, even though when I initially set that price, the nameservers were properly configured. The nameservers were only changed later when I increased the domain price. Just to be safe, I decided to disable Fast Transfer for all my domains in Afternic, as itโ€™s clear this feature does not benefit me as the owner.

And screenshot from csv file downloaded 21.09.2024 from Afternic dashboard with the price:

That doesn't sound good. What have Customer Services said?

Dynadot said that they can no longer do anything since the domain has already been transferred and was included in fast transfer. I am waiting for a response from Afternic, but I decided to write here just in case, so that other owners do not end up in the same situation, especially if they have domains in On Hold status

received a response from support, and according to them, my domain was sold on 07.09.2024, and I changed the price on 09.09.2024. However, if the domain was already sold by then (without me receiving any notifications), this explanation makes no sense. The "On Hold" status only appeared in my Afternic account much later, around the 15th-17th, if I recall correctly. Additionally, Afternic's system doesnโ€™t allow price changes when a domain is in "On Hold" status. So, if I was able to change the price from $1,988 to $5,888 on 09.09.2024, this proves there was no "On Hold" status at the time, and the domain could not have been sold yet.

You can judge for yourself how absurd this explanation sounds. Not to mention, if the sale really happened on 07.09.2024, why are they checking which nameservers are set at the current moment (24.09.2024) to calculate their commission? Itโ€™s clear that nameservers should be checked at the time of sale, and at that point, all my nameservers were correctly set to Afternic's.

I believe from other users posts here they take the NS settings at the time of completion (if I remember right it was discussed as a way of using other NS for lead generation then switching at the end to save commission). Either way if the domain was on hold as they say how would you be able to change price etc? Seems like a glitch I their system they don't want to take ownership of. I'd keep pushing if I were to but knowing them you won't get very far.

Good luck!
