Hello NamePros!
By popular demand, we have launched a dedicated feedback thread for Afternic, the GoDaddy-owned domain name marketplace.

We have created this thread as a way for you to tell us what works, what doesn't work, and what features you'd like to see at Afternic (please be constructive with your feedback). We're looking forward to hearing from the domain investment community to help us shape the future of Afternic.

We will also be sharing Afternic product updates in this thread.

Please note that this thread is not meant for support. Please email our support team at [email protected] for assistance.

I first time sold on Afternic, the first payment was cleared, but second domain does not transfer, there was some issue, which possible was resolved, I send again same EPP code and messaged Afternic through this.

Have questions about your domain transfer? Feel free to message a TA Agent. We are happy to help.

No result until today and no message from them on the second sale, I sent them an email to check domains Pending Review and no reply.

What should I do?

There are also about 3 UI bugs and they removed the chat, can't talk directly.

They'll get back to you. Lately they are taking more time than usual to reply but they'll sort it out don't worry

Wait.

The small team of Afternic brokers seems to be absolutely inundated with extra work due to the Dan migrations, and it's literally taking forever to get even the most basic tasks completed.

I can't imagine what it'll be like on Oct 17.. O_o O_o

I still need to catch up on the last few pages but -

Afternic shuts down search.
Dan.com shuts down search.

How are you supposed to find what you are looking for, simply rely on the amazing "suggested" feature?

In the past I have bought many new Afternic/Dan listings that I found via ExpiredDomains.

I have done keyword and format searches for specific things.

Now, that is going away.

How is the lack of search going to yield anything but less sales?

Brad
I am currently running Domain Academy. We have a great tool you can use to search Afternic inventory. It is one of our most popular tools. It's still in beta so I am happy to hear any feedback you have. DomainAcademy.com/tools and choose Afternic Advanced Search near the bottom. It has lots of great options for filtering domains.

Dan.com landers now forward to GoDaddy sale page.

If there's no BIN:

Hey Joe.

I have bought many domains via that tool, however it is behind a paywall. That means the average person can't narrow down what they are looking for.

There should be a public search so people can find what they are looking for.

Maybe that is certain keywords like .COM starting with "Boston".
Maybe it is 3 letter net/org or 4 letter .com.
Maybe it is something else.

The problem is without everyone having access to those search options it just means less sales.

Additionally, I am not aware of any way to look at just new listings. I would look at Dan listings in the last (24) hours daily. That would allow me to filter out domains I have already seen.

I am not aware of any current way to look at just new listings.

Making the tool public = more sales for sellers and more money for GoDaddy.

I asked this before and asking it again. Help me understand how this makes sense.

Just what we needed—a high-ranking GoDaddy employee to champion DDC, while turning a blind eye to all the chaos and problems we’re facing right now. Thank you, Joe.

Why wouldn't that just be the search on AN?

That’s great Joe

Thanks for that feedback.

For Afternic I let the guy in charge know to look over this thread to read the feedback.

I understand the paywall issue but as a plug for Domain Academy the complete toolset that we offer is much cheaper than if you were to subscribe to separate tools to get that same info. I am starting to put some of the tools and their uses on YouTube, and will add more content on how they can help an investor throughout the course of the year.

On the Domain Academy side of things the tool is still in Beta. I am working with the devs to make it more robust and the First new feature I have on my list is to get a "date added" filter. If you have any other feedback I am all ears.

That's it for now I don't want to hijack this thread but maybe I can get another one going on Domain Academy. Thanks again for your feedback.

Without access to the Afternic search, you are basically stuck with results from exact searches (with extension) or the terrible suggestions, which normally include .sucks, .foo, and other garbage.

If I am looking for domains in a certain format or field, I will never be able to even find them to buy them.

The bottom line is there is no reason a decent search should be paywalled.

If people can't even find domains for sale, there will be less sales. That is common sense.

:) who doesn't like to talk about me? In all seriousness I saw someone else posting that there may be a new search tool coming and I wanted to make sure people know one already exists that we built specifically for investor customers to search with based on feedback around filters that are important to them in Domain Academy.

Joe, how about the issue regarding new listings?

I don't feel like looking at the same listings daily. It just takes more resources.

The tool has been in "beta" forever. When are upgrades coming?

I hope the "coming soon" self-brokerage isn't going to take months or years to come to Afternic. I highly doubt GoDaddy has the broker resources to deal with all the extra leads, at least in an efficient manner.

I understand you don’t want to enter all the Afternic / Migration discussion Joe
Probably it’s not on you , I get it

It’s just that you’re the first one from GD staff commenting here since this migration started. Just dead silence.

I just bought a domain the other day when I randomly noticed the price dropped.

It would be nice to have a watchlist where there was an option to maybe notify you about price changes.

There are many other features that would be nice to have as well, like new listings in the last (select date range).

It would be nice to have an option to be notified about new listings that meet whatever criteria you set.

And just got my first Lease To Own thru Afternic just now. Just submitted code, will see how long before I get first payment. Nice to know it’s working. And a hand reg on top of that.

Hi JB Lions

Congratulations! You've sold xxxxx.com through Lease to Own for $$$$ spread across 12 monthly payments!

We're happy to report that we've already secured the first installment payment from the buyer.

So what's next? It's your turn to take a few important steps to transfer the domain to a holding account. Don't worry. We'll walk you through it.

To start, please unlock xxxx.com at your registrar and retrieve the authorization code. Once you have the auth code, please click the link below to submit it to Afternic. We'll take it from there.
First payment hit bank, early this morning. So 2 days/less than 2 days actually.

So Lease To Own and payment is working smooth on my end.

Still seeing people posting up bugs. Hopefully they go thru them all and handle them. A smooth running system makes everybody more money, so it's in everybody's best interest to fix them.

I still have 1 minor bug, noticed somebody else on Twitter posting the same bug.

When I login I see under Needs Attention:

Leads
You have 1 inquiry on your domains for sale

That's a domain I sold last year, October 2023.

There is no way to get rid of that. Can't delete it, just has been sitting there for almost a year.

Here are a couple of visuals from people with the same bug:

and another

The custom lander needs some kind of contact bubble like the Dan landers... a phone number at least, something so they can or at least know they can talk with someone. Would be useful for example when you have a bin but are willing to negotiate, I own a lot of plural and singular pairs so having them contact a broker who can then message me to work out a deal would be great.
