Hello NamePros!
By popular demand, we have launched a dedicated feedback thread for Afternic, the GoDaddy-owned domain name marketplace.

We have created this thread as a way for you to tell us what works, what doesn't work, and what features you'd like to see at Afternic (please be constructive with your feedback). We're looking forward to hearing from the domain investment community to help us shape the future of Afternic.

We will also be sharing Afternic product updates in this thread.

Please note that this thread is not meant for support. Please email our support team at [email protected] for assistance.

The custom lander needs some kind of contact bubble like the Dan landers... a phone number at least, something so they can or at least know they can talk with someone. Would be useful for example when you have a bin but are willing to negotiate, I own a lot of plural and singular pairs so having them contact a broker who can then message me to work out a deal would be great.

I see so much good feedback such as this from people who actively use and live this stuff -- power users, experts, yeah, actual "name pros." Unfortunately, I have a strong sense that we are only talking amongst ourselves. It's not really furthering the cause of improving the experience or platform and bugs seem to multiply faster than they die.

I won't argue with those who say that GoDaddy doesn't care. Evidence of that is clear. It strikes me, though, that they seem unable to fix things or improve them. At best, fixes and additions are brutally slow. Most of these fixes or enhancements benefit GoDaddy's own interests so why not implement them?

They set the bar low and largely get away with it. They can do so only because of their reach and marketshare. I know that I am willing to tolerate a lot to access the GD/AN search path.

I thank the good people on the service side at GD/AN. I know I'd be frustrated operating in a service role when so many problems (such a high percentage) are tech/dev/platform related.

Oh, trust me, I know. I joined this forum feeling like I was GoDaddy's #1 hater in a forum that seemed to be ok with GoDaddy. It's nice to see everyone retaliating, that anger is behind me, but I am still not pleased with a lot of things, from the random domain "reviews" to this new crap I just came across. A couple of days ago pricing was synced now there seems to be an extra markup, that is the most goody thing I have ever seen, it's their own platform.

I priced this name right under the Valuation so that the badge that says it's worth more is shown.

Now it looks like this.

@GoDaddy

James, I hope you are doing fine. Not sure why Godaddy has disappeared from the forum at the time when the bugs and questions are piling up.

What is the deal with "Get it" like in the post above. Why not just buy now? Is it only for non-boost to further suppress their sales and force into boost?

What is forcing GD/Afternic to barge through with the boost even after it is obvious that it doesn't deliver any value to sellers (unless their base performance is suppressed artificially) and has had a very negative reception? Whose pet project is it that no one can deliver the simple message to him that it is not working and will contribute to the loss of the monopoly position of Afternic?

I have worked in large corporations for 20+ years and know that when a project like this is pushed through regardless of any numbers, data and rationale, it is usually internal politics and someone is making a case for himself with disregard to anything else.

Thanks for that feedback.

For Afternic I let the guy in charge know to look over this thread to read the feedback.

I understand the paywall issue but as a plug for Domain Academy the complete toolset that we offer is much cheaper than if you were to subscribe to separate tools to get that same info. I am starting to put some of the tools and their uses on YouTube, and will add more content on how they can help an investor throughout the course of the year.

On the Domain Academy side of things the tool is still in Beta. I am working with the devs to make it more robust and the First new feature I have on my list is to get a "date added" filter. If you have any other feedback I am all ears.

That's it for now I don't want to hijack this thread but maybe I can get another one going on Domain Academy. Thanks again for your feedback.

Yeah because end users wanna pay for tools to search domain inventory
Let's pull da plug on Dan cause Afternic is ready to go=20% complete :xf.eek:

How are you supposed to find what you are looking for, simply rely on the amazing "suggested" feature?

How is the lack of search going to yield anything but less sales?

Brad

Gonna be a lot of .sucks sales if they rely on their suggested capabilities.

All .finance domains "including mine" on the Afternic network cannot be added to GoDaddy's cart using the Afternic landing pages and produce the following error "Error occurred processing link":

AN-error-092424.png

- If a domain is pointed to Afternic using the "Custom Lander" landing page, here's what happens:
1- If the domain has BIN only, it cannot be added to GoDaddy's cart.
2- If the domain has BIN and LTO, it cannot be added to GoDaddy's cart if the buyer decides to pay the full price but can be added through LTO only.

- If a domain is pointed to Afternic using the "Buy It Now (BIN)" landing page, here's what happens:
Since the "Buy It Now (BIN)" landing page provides BIN price only it cannot be added to GoDaddy's cart.

@GoDaddy Others and I reported the same issue last week and today I found out it affects all .finance domains "including mine" on the Afternic network. Please fix it ASAP.

This suggestion was raised when the "Custom Lander" was first introduced.

The "Buy It Now (BIN)" landing page already has a phone number which means a sales team is already there to handle these types of calls. And I agree, it would be even better if we had a chat box as well.

But for now, a small block of code could potentially convert many buyers with inquiries.
@GoDaddy Please consider implementing this one ๐Ÿ‘‡ in the next update.

Thank you!

They were testing the Chat support in the old BIN lander. It would help with sales and backend chat support for sellers would be great.

The funny thing is despite all that promotion, there are only 1600 .sucks registrations at GoDaddy.

That includes https://godaddy.sucks

godaddysucks.png

However, Afternic.sucks is still available. Lead by example, register it asap ))

And... another "smart" suggestion by Godaddy:

just reg The with dash in front of the brand... A terrible solution both for a brand and for sellers.

Imagine communicating orally: Go to The Dash Afternic Dot Com.

I hear no bugs. I see no bugs. No freakin' way do I smell any bugs.

Yes, we have no bugs today. Bonus! $$$

Nothing to see here. Move along...

Domain Investor: I have noticed a number of issues. Screenshots attached. I really want the platform to work well for all users. Please contact me with any questions. Thank you!

GoDaddy: You are not our target audience.

So true! Unrequited love. It might be funny. Yep, I'm going with funny. Not a healthy relationship.

As of September 24, 2024, the issues still have not been resolved. Moreover, today I received a message from Dynadot stating that my domain was transferred out because it was sold on the Afternic marketplace. The domain had been in "On hold" status for over a week. When I logged into my Afternic account, I discovered that the domain had been sold, not for $5,888 (the price I had set when these issues with Afternic began, around September 5-6), but for $1,988 (the old price set when I first decided to try using Afternic instead of Dan in mid-August 2024).

The Afternic dashboard still showed the $5,888 price for this domain (the domain is mozk dot com, if anyone is curious). I even have a CSV file downloaded on September 21 from Afternic, which clearly shows the domain listed at $5,888 with the "On hold" status. To make matters worse, they took a 25% commission, even though when I initially set that price, the nameservers were properly configured. The nameservers were only changed later when I increased the domain price. Just to be safe, I decided to disable Fast Transfer for all my domains in Afternic, as itโ€™s clear this feature does not benefit me as the owner.

And screenshot from csv file downloaded 21.09.2024 from Afternic dashboard with the price:

Hi that is bad, but not unexpected, and probably allowed by the ToS - sometimes prices do not update MONTHS later, as reported here: https://www.namepros.com/threads/pr...rt-problems-here.1006373/page-47#post-7345852

This makes Fast Transfer fundamentally unsafe. I removed it from all domains at Afternic, found that not so straightforward, so moved them all to Dan.com and deleted the Afternic listings, now GoBaddy is shutting Dan down so they may, maybe, go back to Afternic....๐ŸŒ๐Ÿ›๐Ÿœ๐Ÿ๐Ÿž

Is the Lead Center working for you? Are new leads getting reported there?

Couple of weeks ago it stopped reporting and they fixed it. Is the bug back now?

The lead center is frozen for me, I really doubt that the cause is me not having a big enough portfolio, I think there some issue.

@GoDaddy

Can't login into afternic. Goes to empty page and suggests to translate from Danish to English.

@Recons.Com Same for the past hour. Error 403. I suggest referring to Godaddy & Afternic as GoBuggy & Bugternic from now on. Afterglitch is also an option.
