Hello NamePros!
By popular demand, we have launched a dedicated feedback thread for Afternic, the GoDaddy-owned domain name marketplace.

We have created this thread as a way for you to tell us what works, what doesn't work, and what features you'd like to see at Afternic (please be constructive with your feedback). We're looking forward to hearing from the domain investment community to help us shape the future of Afternic.

We will also be sharing Afternic product updates in this thread.

Please note that this thread is not meant for support. Please email our support team at [email protected] for assistance.

I'm curious to know how the ICA AMA session with Alan Shiflett went. There is apparently plenty of time for those things, instead of fixing bugs.

Have critical questions been asked by fellow ICA members and have answers been provided that can restore trust in GoDaddy?

My sync between Dynadot and Afternic is dysfunctional/erratic atm, I'm not getting any Fast transfer notifications (except for one that is still within 60d) and some newly listed domains don't sync at all. It takes two to tango, but in the end I don't care whose fault it is, I'm not paying more commission for this bug-orama.

I was pleasantly surprised to see that a FT sale just happened in my Afternic portfolio, in the midst of the many bugs that are currently reported by other members. Unfortunately with a sky-high 25% Afternic commission because the lander was at Sedo. I hope that Afternic will use this commission to finally and permanently resolve all reported bugs, and I sincerely congratulate Afternic with this sale.

and I sincerely congratulate Afternic with this sale.
Seriously, with such high commission, when a Sale happens on Afternic, whom to congratulate? Seller, Buyer or Registrar?

Fast Transfer for this sale was from Porkbun to GoDaddy. I do notice however that the domain is still in my Porkbun account. And when I do a direct query to whois.GoDaddy.com and to whois.Porkbun.com, the domain is in both systems with different owners. Porkbun whois has an updated date of 2024-04-25, not today. All this is usually not the case, and could be related to the problems others have reported with Fast Transfer status.

Lookup.icann.org says the domain is now at GoDaddy.

I'll just wait and see if the sold domain disappears from my Porkbun account and Porkbun whois later today.

Maybe Godaddy is the buyer to appease you? Bob Parsons will soon be inviting you on a space flight with his space company PorcelainX. And suddenly everything will be fine.
Congratulations on the sale!

Despite all the justified criticism of GoDaddy's founder, it would be a relief if he came back.

Thanks for the congratulations @Name2go :xf.smile:

@zomainhacks Confirming bulk upload failure here as well.

I was just informed that it is a known issue and the devs are working on adding it Afternic Boost for an additional 5% commission.

I'm only joking about the Afternic Boost part!

It is a known issue though and they are currently working on it.

Bulk upload failure still here, doesn't work in any browser.

I need to update domains, losing sales in what is the good part of this month (and summer).

Thanks @Future Sensors, we're looking into improvements for GoDaddy's cart loading for both the Buy it Now lander and the Custom Lander.

Hi @Domain Research Labs
Afternic-listed domains continue to be syndicated to GoDaddy Auctions, as always. The most reliable way to find Afternic-listed domains is to either search directly, or browse the "Public Buy it Now" listings for Afternic-listed names with a Buy Now price.

Hi @ArielT
Thanks for your feedback. There was a brief issue with leads loading over the weekend, which has been resolved (this didn't impact leads being received, just leads loading for sellers). If you continue to see issues, please reach out to Afternic's support team. You can also share an example domain name via DM so that we can track the issue with our team.

Hi @Maged Khatab
Thanks for your feedback. The Custom Lander focuses on bringing the buyer through the checkout process. That's why aside from a link to TrustPilot, we currently only link out to the GoDaddy cart through the "Next" button - focusing the attention of the buyer on the key pathway to secure the domain name. Including a link to GoDaddy.com may take them away from the purchase pathway, although this is a theory we could test in the future, based on your feedback.

Regarding rounding up Lease to Own, there are many challenges to rounding up or down to the nearest dollar when offering Lease to Own at scale, globally. We've discussed this, but right now, we do not have plans to implement currency rounding on LTO.

try 2...

are u ever gonna confirm u are killing dan if so then when tnx

Try to load from your godaddy account. The names will be synchronized to your afternic account.

@Future Sensors - I've sold and transferred quite a few names from Porkbun.

What you're seeing is referred to as an "External Domain." This is common with Porkbun and requires an additional step of deleting the external domains if you don't want to see them.

Yes, the only difference I was seeing today was the much larger delay reflecting changes in my account and in whois.

The domain is no longer in my Porkbun account, without me having to remove it manually. But it took more time than usual with FT transactions.

Holy cow!!! It's a freaking miracle!!!!

Ladies and gentlemen, I believe the bulk upload issue has been resolved.

I won't know for certain for another 2-3 hours when it finally completes, but we made it past the error.

UPDATE: Success in record time for Afternic!

Note: The speed was most likely due to the system queue or lack thereof at the time of upload.

Already tried in incognito mode and with different browsers and the bug persists
Hi @zomainhacks (and others),
We're sorry to hear about your experience with bulk upload. The Afternic team has identified the issue, and has published an update. Please DM us if you continue receiving an error when using the bulk upload function.

Just quick question @GoDaddy or anybody.

We don't have to wait for the emails anymore to opt in to the fast transfer network? Usually, I would submit then wait for emails to authorize

I just moved 2 domains from Dan landing pages to GoDaddy/Afternic
NS1.AFTERNIC.COM
NS2.AFTERNIC.COM

First time putting these names on Afternic

Set Buy Now price, enabled Lease To Own

And they show up already at GoDaddy and other Fast Transfer partners like Dynadot.

In the interface it says:
Fast Transfer Eligibility

Eligible

Fast Transfer Status

Off

But already showing at GoDaddy and Dynadot when I search for the names.
Hi @JB Lions
GoDaddy and Dynadot are Afternic partners who list both standard and fast transfer domains. You'll need to authorize your participation in the Fast Transfer network as usual.

Status report at Afternic at the moment (spoiler: bugs, bugs & more bugs):

- Can't bulk edit landers.

- Custom landers are working for some domains, but for others aren't resolving (everything is set up correctly).

- Fast transfer status is unclear for many domains- some are showing as 'not eligible' or 'opt-in required' for no reason, including many that are regged at Godaddy. Apparently there's a bug and some domains that aren't shown as 'active' in the main dashboard are in fact active, but who the hell knows what's active and what isn't at this point. If it's a bug in the display or if it's really non eligible or opt-in required.

- Opt-in emails for fast transfer often don't arrive and can only be triggered one by one or in small batches. Ironically the problem is only with domains that are registered at Godaddy. (thanks for the incentive to transfer elsewhere)

- Domains are randomly entering 'Review' status for no reason.

- Some of the listed domains don't appear at Godaddy with an exact match search, including domains that are fast transfer 'Active'.

I could go on and on. Bugs, bugs and more bugs. @GoDaddy, does that sound like a functioning platform? Before trying to squeeze more money from your captive clients, how about getting your shit together and providing a good product first and building on that? I'd even settle for a decent product at this point.
Hi @SuperBrander
That experience is not what we want at all for you. We've reached out via DM for more information on what you're seeing.

The issue of domains entering "Review" status is something that our Afternic product team is looking at over the longer term. While the "In Review" system works to ensure that listings at Afternic remain valid and up to date (effectively removing domains that have expired, for example), we know there are improvements to be made there.
