Hi. It's been 5 days since I contacted the person who had won my auction, but he hasn't responded yet. Is there a time limit for buyers to respond? Can I cancel the deal?
Thanks.

I found this in Marketplace/Sales Rules. However, I believe it is within your right to cancel the sale as the "Buyer" has not responded within this time period. It is the Buyer's responsibility to confirm an offer submitted within a reasonable time frame. IMO, 5 days is not reasonable.

6.1.17. Default timeline for sales: transactions must be initiated within 7 days of an offer being accepted. The domain transfer must be completed within a grand total of 14 days from the time the offer was accepted. Alternate timelines are only accepted if both the buyer and seller agree to it.

6.1.18. It is both the buyer's and seller's individual responsibility to check if they are responsible for carrying out a sale.

That rule 6.1.18 is worded strangely, IMO. "Responsibility to check if they are responsible..."?

They are responsible for honoring their part of an agreement, one which should be legally binding.

Send a PM to @Eric Lyon and let him know what's going on. He might be able to give the buyer a nudge.

This is why I always specify on my auctions that payment must be made within 24 hours. If the winner does not honor that, I move on with my domain.

It is disappointing to put a name for sale or auction, sometimes waiting for days or weeks or even spending money and time promoting the sale, and then end chasing the winner.

I wish there were serious consequences for members that don't follow the rules.

I agree with this. NamePros has grown quite large with new members and there are more instances of late payment/lack of communication, etc. The rules regarding domain name sales here are ambiguous and confusing. I think it would benefit the community if this section where tightened up to suggest a clear time line for payment and push (perhaps in consultation with some of the legal members here?)

I used to indicate that payment must be made within 24 hours but found out that this is irrelevant. Essentially, the rules are being interpreted as the buyer has 7 days to pay.

7 days I believe is also way too long for a smooth transaction. Sometimes names are about to expire too. I think for less stress for both the buyer and seller, and a more seamless business experience, that the timeframe would be better set at 12 - 24 hours BOTH to receive payment and for transfer / push to be initialized. It doesn't make much sense to drag out and prolong what should be short and quick transactions. I bet if they set a time limit to either 12 or 24 hours that both buyer and seller will be more satisfied at the end of the transaction.

You win a domain, of course you want it as quickly as possible. Vice versa, you sell a domain, you just want to get paid without too much delay, so you can quickly get the domain to the buyer. The seller should be ready to transfer the domain even before they list it for sale. The buyer should be ready with the money to give to the seller, before they even bid or BIN a domain.

Just my $4.20.

In my view if buyer did not responded with in time period of TOS .he should be suspended for time slot because seller has to lost his time on chasing buyer .if buyer is not interested in domain he should avoid biding if he as any concerns should be clarify with seller .
