Hi All,

I sold 2 domains on 7 day auction at godaddy, wasn't for a whole lot, but it's been 7 days and the person who bought them still hasn't paid for them.

Anyone know how many days someone has to pay..?

godaddy auction support still hasn't given me a clear answer..

I know when you buy an domain in an expired domain auction, they charge your card in about 4 to 5 days if the domain is paid.

So it seems they get their money for an auction, but when it's your domain, they just don't do too much to get the payment..

Any experience with this by anyone would be appreciated..

Actually have a godaddy rep on the phone now, and they still can't give me a clear answer how long someone has to pay for a domain in a 7 day auction before the buyer has his rights to the domain cancelled.

Thanks

I had once brought a domain in auction and did not pay for 3 days. later godaddy mailed me about the payment else they might terminate my account. Which reminded me of paying for it which i had completely forgotten. So I think its around 7-10 days period. If the top bidder doesnt pay the domain is honored to the next least bidder and if he defaults then the next least bidder so on and so forth.

I think the highest bidder dont want this domain anymore.so he is not paying. you have to wait for few more days until someone else comes in to picture.

Cheers

It's 30 days. I had the same question last month after 2 weeks of non-payment and they told me:

"They have 30 days according to our auctions team"

Which is way too long to me, it's like they're being held hostage. I might get an inquiry in that time frame.

Their help section needs a rework, it's a mess. I couldn't find the answer anywhere in there.

Hi,

So after I contacted godaddy and they contacted the buyer, and the buyer did pay that same day so at least that's taken care of.

The thing about if the highest bidder doesn't pay then it goes to the next bidder isn't accurate though. They don't do that.

What godaddy told me was that they give them 30 days to pay, which is crazy in itself, but anytime after a week you can contact godaddy and ask them to send a message to the buyer to pay and if doesn't pay in a couple days you can request that the persons winning bid be cancelled and then you can do whatever you want with the domain at that point.

This is what I was told by someone in auctions support staff.

On an expired domain auction, the second highest bidder does have an opportunity to purchase the domain if the winner doesn't pay within 2-days, at the lower price point when the highest bidder raised the price.

Although, I have recently seen where GD will automatically charge your CC if you don't pay so I can't say if people can bid without payment information on file?

30 days to pay is just plain crazy to pay on a regular domain auction! Should be 5-7 days max. Good luck!

gd auction for expiered and gd auction done by private people aka open auctions etc have different rules

so when you sell a name, even if it says auth pending etc it doesnt mean the buyer didnt pay, gd waits X amount of days before telling you its ok for you to contact the buyer and that they secured the funds

in expired auction they will offer the name to the next bidder if the high bidder didnt pay within i think 3 days, in a open auction they do not do that obviously

have said all this gd needs to give buyer 24 hours to pay, collect the funds and shoot it over to seller using paypal, etf, wire or check, its 2014 things need to move way way quicker
