I was looking through some of the premiums today and realized that there are a lot of great names left that AREN'T premium.

Just grabbed these...

Pacer.tv
Oiler.tv
Knick.tv
Hornet.tv

and.... Fumble.tv

What do you think about these 5?

My question is always, how do you make money with Fumble.TV. Unless you really want to spend the cash to brand it differently. Fumble means Football miscues. The best hope is great videos of fumbles and HOPE to sell NFL gear. Better get alot of traffic to make that work.

True - good points.
I do specialize in search marketing and social media marketing, so this type of name is right up my ally!

How about a video blog about football games with the most current clips. It's a brand play...thats why I snagged it. And I bet if someone visits the site, they wont forget the name.

Sure, but will they click a link and buy some gear from their favorite NFL time after watching the video

the YouTube sale showed something. The company had tons of eyeballs, not many FTEs, and was losing money.

If that is your model, you need massive scale like Craigslist and Youtube to get value from development.

I do think that there is a disconnect with how to make money.
That being said, if you own multiple properties, it's pretty easy to funnel traffic off to a higher converting one. There is also a huge value to be seen in monetizing things other than just a "click". CPM spend is going up as companies want people to just "See" their brand, and "owning" an audience (your visitors) has huge value IMO.

I tried the celebrity blog space a few months ago, and in just 4 months, built a site that has over 135k backlinks and does about 5,000 uniques per day. And I make about $1,400 per month and with little effort. This is just a small example of a quick site launch, that when done right, can become a nice little revenue stream.

I think it can be done again in other niche's using the .tv name space as a brand play.

That is good. As you said, with that model you need to go N-wide and scale by going thin and wide.

Football is the #1 sport in the US. I think NFL shop has an affliate program. That gives you to foundation for success.

Agreed. Thanks.

BTW - I'm really curious to see how the GEO .tv's will be built out and what type of formal or informal network will be created.

I went to a conference last summer held by AssociatedCities and it was interesting to see the want to form a network, and of course there are millions of benefits. I will note that Castello has things figured out on the "non-corporate" level of monetizing a city domain.

I sent a BD team to the Associated Cities conference two years ago. Yes, Associated Cities is excellent at monetizing traffic.

Most of the sites have relatively low traffic numbers and make excellent revenue. Most of our .TV sites overlap with BLVDS.
