This idea came to me when I had regged ninjas.tv and forgot to reg ninjastv and/or ninjatv.com. Someone else obliged and took the name within seconds of me posting my appraisal request - which, by the way someone had valued at mid xxx........

So I checked the premium .tv names and found one $50,000 premium name, apartamentos.tv that still had apartamentostv.com available - so I regged it.

I found another, internacional.TV at a $30,000 a year premium available as a TV.com and regged that one too.

I found document.TV available aswell, a $10,000 a year premium and regged that one.

I took nuts.tv, a $2000 premium as a .com, the same for belguim.tv and discreet.tv...

Altogether, I have one $50,000 premium, two $30,000 premiums, 5 $10,000 premiums and about 10 more between $500 - $7500 premiums - ofcourse all as .coms.

There are still many left, though the really decent names are of course mostly gone.

What I cannot understand is the gaping hole in Verisign's strategy. should they be able to get those $50,000 and above premiums to catch the interest of the big boys, surely those premiums become a whole lot less valuable given the fact that the .com version has been taken.

Equity 78 has on numerous occasions spoken about protecting the .TV's.....

Does that translate into one very big bargaining chip to hold a $50,000 per year premium in the .com version??

am interessted in anyone elses take on this issue!!

Good question ........maybe to avoid paying a "fortune" for boats.tv or boatstv.com..........

I can see an argument for ' *tv.com ', though I do think it is a poor choice. But after a point, one must consider the overall professionalism of a domian as a selling point, and don't see a hyphen tv .com as a viable alternative. But then, I do have to admit, I've seen some awful domains registered ( noticed 'aim to please dot biz' as a plumbing company , just yesterday )

all we now is JokerProductions to turn up and it'd be like old times again..

In all seriousness though, with the advent of "mobile TV" about to go mainstream and possibly be so huge it could be the start of the next internet revolution, registering these ****tv.com domains aint such a bad thing (regardless of the .tv extension we all intended them to be bolted onto in the first place).

Im quite proud of my pokertourtv.com etc.. I think it has a nice look and feel to it..

Oh so we should just have forums where everyone agrees with one another.... sounds like a pretty boring forum to me......by the way you better
reg the hyphens as well boats-tv.com
First, the forum has nothing to do with everyone agreeing with one another. It is however a place where members that have a common interest in everythinig regarding the .TV extension as well as the development of everything that is related can share, learn, and profit.

Second, you enter our forum and state with all your genius that ".tv is mainly a speculators market with very few sales" and "Simply a waste of space". Maybe you need to contact Verisign and let them in on your business accumen. While you're at it, PM Equity78 and have the forum closed since everyone here is just wasting space.

Not only are you completely wrong, but you are extremely ignorant. Don't need your attitude or comments here.

westblock, considering you are a "senior member", your comments sound like those of a sore loser.
i made an alternative comment to what the pro .tv people are saying, and there is nothing wrong with that. instead you basically shove my opinion about .tv down the drain with disdain.

i don't have to like .tv, i can say i don't like .tv, and i can say i don't like .tv in a pro .tv thread like this. thats my freedom and perogative!

So because i said i don't think .tv has much future or that the .tv domains regged for $xx,xxx weren't worth it means i don't like .tv? faulty logic mr. caustic remarks.
get your s*** off my case pls. thanks

How many generic .COMs did you buy in 1985/1986? Would have been nice to even own just one generic keyword today wouldn't it? Please do not bash people who are making contribution to the .TV thread or any other thread for that matter.

Millercrossing, this is a very interesting topic. About midway into my .tv regging experience I began to reg available xxxtv.com to create a more diverse portfolio and in the future use to redirect traffic to a developed .TV I have found that there are many many gems in foreign nonenglish generics available that are up for grabs. An example is newstv which I have in French.

On a final note, to all the nonbelievers who spend time reading the .tv thread if you do not like what you are reading find a thread that you can participate in.

Its weird how all the flame topics always get the most views and most voyeurs...

Personally, i have to declare that as a pro .TV fan (and I mean PRO .TV) I welcome all comments regardless of opinion, conjecture and/or counter thought.

After all, if someones opinion is well thought out, Id like to think that it might sway my thought or make me re-evaluate that which I previous thought was a definite or a "done deal" if it made sense.

This is what makes my life as a domainer (and i hate that term) better.

But no forum has room for slants or slurs on anothers character. I personally cant see any reason to attack someone because of an alternative perspective. Though I also cant see of any reason as to why someone would post in a forum to which they have no interest..

hey-ho, maybe its just me

$30,000 for internacional.tv. And to think that I couldn't sell it for $50 4 years ago and let it lapse.

Hype changes everything.

THAT is the key, and I would agree. But, Ian, the comments were neither "well thought out" nor "Make sense".

I agree that people are intitled to their opinions, but since this thread is for .TV lovers, it would make no sense to come in to belittle .tv fans. I am a Yankee fan, as much as I would love to do it, it wouldn't make sense for me to go to a RedSox message board and post my opionion on the 5 game sweep the Yanks just did against the sox.
