Premium renewal pricing madness !

Who the **** priced these names ??

http://www.enom.com/auctions/dotTV.asp?domain=porn.TV

http://www.enom.com/auctions/dotTV.asp?domain=sex.TV

I give up trying to understand the rhyme, reason or commercial rationale behind premium pricing for .tv names ..

Madness any muppet would know that they were two of the highest searched and most PREMIUM terms ...

Did premium pricing come in after a land rush? were they originally $250.00 to buy ? was the premium model an after thought.. is that how some great names do not have huge premiums ?

I am confused? anyone care to enlighten me ..

Cheers!

Apparently Verisign set the first few thousand or so. When demand/enom came into the picture, they set the prices on about 50,000 more.

I believe someone has said verisign sets all the prices, but from reading all the different conversations it is painfully obvious that demand is pulling the prices out of their collective butts.

I believe you are looking at negotiated renewal rates on those very premium domains.

CCD please explain your understanding of "negotiated rates"

I only checked these as someone was asking on another thread how do you check if a name is premium? so before I posted the link I ran a few names though to check I had the right link .. business, news etc and these two 'cause I was curious ..

Then I got VERY confused ! how much ?? I checked again - decided I must be having a blonde day! lol so I thought I would ask ...

Edit! - I just noticed 100 posts now for me !

I'm no expert in the subject of .tv domain renewal negotiation, but understand that it is executed by some very large .tv portfolio owners and others.

You cannot look at certain renewal prices as that's what the premium fee and renewal were. IGAL and ELEQUA got $25 and $50 renewals others would never get that IGAL(Boogie Productions, Domain Spa, Mrs Jello) and Elequa (FMA.com) kept the .tv ext a float way back when and got pricing no one else would get. Some domains the people paid the high premium but got low renewals. These were done years ago and those days are gone as far as premium renewal fees.
