OK guys and girls...we are assured that this promotion WILL need to come to an end by Monday 20 February, at the latest. Let's see.

For those who were watching this thread and haven't seen the newest promo
$5.99 Reg AND TRANSFERS
https://www.namepros.com/threads/an...od-registrar-alpnames-5-99-no-limits.1024292/

And here is a summary of helpful hints from this thread:

How much is Privacy and renewal at AlpNames?
Privacy is 99 cents for all extensions, which while not free, is super cheap

Also just to point out for those of us who transfer hop to save money,, @AlpNames COM renewal is ONLY $8.75 so there's no sticker shock gotcha next year, unlike most other transfer deals.

Is there a fee or restriction for Transfer Away from AlpNames?
We don't believe in shady practices!!! In fact, we often receive requests to expedite transfer outs and, if it's in our power to do so, we will always help.

To be clear, we do NOT charge a transfer out fee.

Is AlpNames part of the Afternic Fast Transfer Program?
As you guys have figured out, we ARE enrolled in the Afternic reseller programme by virtue of the fact that we operate on the Logicboxes backend system. Agreed that it would be good to get a mention though, other LB registrars do...thanks for flagging it, we will take it up with them.

How to resend Approval Email
posted by usernamex https://www.namepros.com/posts/5987625/

Go to the domain in question
Manage Orders -> List/Search Orders -> Then click on the name you wish to process
and there will be an overlay with a Resend email button

Is there a way to get fewer emails when transferring?
posted by usernamex https://www.namepros.com/posts/5992718/
It's ICANN's fault - when you change whois you get one email each gain and lose to approve, THEN one email each to tell you it's completed. That's four right there : rolleyes :

The transfer itself generates four from Alp - Order, Authorization, Pending Registry Approval and Complete and an additional Losing Registrar Transfer Away notification, with fast approve link, depending on losing registrar.

To make it slightly less annoying do it in two parts: Change whois at losing registrar FIRST, careful to OPT OUT of 60 day change lock, and verify it matches exact default info for my AlpNames account, THEN initiate transfer. For me at least that helped to keep track, I could check whois was updated before initiating transfer, that way there was less chance I would miss a single email that would hold up the whole show.

It's even worse if you have reseller accounts, AMHIK : eek :

@Avtar629 - As mentioned, we do not like leaving anyone feeling that they did not receive the service that they expected. In order to better understand what happened and what your experience was, please feel free to PM this account with some details. I can assure you that it will be looked into.

@hemirate - Regrettably, it would seem that this particular user failed to update his thread...our system shows that he regained access to his account shortly after creating the thread that you refer to and that he was able to register many more domains over the subsequent months. As I did not work for AlpNames at the time and given that we have since upgraded our support system, it is unclear whether we were able to assist this particular customer, or whether he figured out the issue for himself. However, I can confirm that his account was never deleted, as claimed.

Hey CakeCode - I have spoken to our support team and they confirm that they have been helping you with the transfer process today. :)

The updates that ICANN made to the Inter-Registrar Transfer Policy in December have added extra complexities to the transfer process that are causing headaches for quite a few people - us included! The best thing that anyone that is experiencing difficulties can do, is to contact our support team and ask for help...if they are able to help, they will!

Hey Alpnames

Sorry I was wrong and take back my earlier comments.

Yup I am working with your team , though lot of emails to send back and forth for domain transfer, but they are prompt and efficient.

So far the experience has been really great.

Good job guys. look forward to transfer more domains, I wish you had the same offers for even .net and .org domains - I couldn't have relied on the other registrars.

thanks
i first saw that pop up abuot 1 week ago.
That's because we were first told that the promo would need to end over a week ago, but we managed to keep it going ;)...UNTIL NOW!!! Unfortunately, that's it folks...the show's over for now. Of course, AlpNames continues to offer great pricing across the board and, what we very much like to think is, some pretty damn good customer service.

hate to be the sourpuss here. I tried to register domains over at Alpnames a while back. and there were "issues". I forget right now but it really pissed me off. it was back when Alpnames had some cheap Reg. I forget what price.

The main issue was the support. I had issues. Emailed them then waited about 2-4 days for a reply. of which the special was over.

PM Alpnames as the price of the transfer supercedes any past issues with Alpnames. but I need to be convinced. thanks.

We never like to hear of anyone having issues with our service, especially our support as we pride ourselves on offering a more personal service than many of the large, faceless registrars out there. As we are a young (but fast growing!) registrar, we are having to evolve and adapt somewhat publicly - it used to be that we could only offer support during our office hours (8.30 to 17.30 CET, Monday to Friday), we have now extended these hours and provide support 7 days a week. In the very near future, we hope to be able to offer 24/7/365 support.

Feedback is good, we love feedback. Thanks.

I just want to be sure there is not an extra transfer out fee to hold us hostage there.

We don't believe in shady practices!!! In fact, we often receive requests to expedite transfer outs and, if it's in our power to do so, we will always help.

To be clear, we do NOT charge a transfer out fee.

Super offer! I've regged a lot of .com with alpnames months ago during the $ 5 offer.
I've a lot of domain with alpnames, never have any problem with them.
I've transfer to alpnames most of my domains (developed) without any issue.
Amazing prices, good live support/via email.
Adrian from support is very helpful, and help me a lot of time.

I think the problems that people are experiencing are all due to the new ICANN IRTP procedures - we're really not enjoying having to deal with it as a registrar, so we feel for our customers. It has become apparent over the last week that, not only is it confusing for registrants, many other registrars simply have no clue as to what is required. We have had to phone a couple of losing registrars to help customers with their transfers and the lack of awareness re. the new procedure has been surprising...and a little worrying.

Please contact our support team and they will proactively help you complete your transfers.

Hopefully this week, we will be producing an IRTP guide to help our customers (and others!) better understand the process.

That's wierdo.
Well, from one customer to another means, the new customer is a totally different person with other details
Like, in theory, there should be no one with multiple account and just jump domains between those accounts to spend time, right?
The new customer, is a new person. It can't use the old details...

Pam pam...

Yes and no...your registered account details and the details you use for registering domain names can be entirely different in our system - in fact, you can create and set specific contacts for specific purposes. If you push a domain from one account to another, it used to be that you could tell the system to use the default contact from the new account but now, due to the new IRTP a domain's contact details will always remain the same when pushed, it will just create a new contact in the new account. The details can be changed from within the new account and the 60-day lock for a mere registrant change can be opted out of.

Life was so much simpler before...

You can manually change whois to the buyers info BEFORE push to solve it - the buyer will have to respond to the emails to approve, which is good so you don't get a lazy buyer later

Discovered the trick at domfam - Domain/MyDomain/NetFirms/Dotster, was actually their chat that said change before push is the best way now since the ICANN Dec 1 nonsense.

and @Lex404 the only problem with change after push (if you are the buyer) is a non-responsive seller, they have to approve email to make the change.

Actually, I wish I had enough money right now to transfer all my domains to Alpnames under this promotion because they have an auction feature with only 1% fee that is even waived at the moment.

These guys any good, bulk edits, ICANN 60 day opt-out on lock out on admin edits, easy push, fast transfer?

Our system allows the creations of multiple WHOIS contacts and bulk edits. You can opt opt of the 60-day lock for WHOIS edits. You can push from one account to another, retaining the same WHOIS info - but, for most TLDs (not .COM), we allow WHOIS updates that skip the IRTP process (you need to contact our support for this...the skip is newly implemented, but it means less annoying emails for you guys!). You can opt-in to fast transfer...also, we have a policy of ALWAYS processing manual transfer out requests (unlike most!).

Hope that helps.

it seems to be limited time he said.. burt limited only by total qty available.

now when people say that.. it has to mean they know the qty.

so if you can post it for all of us, that'd be appreciated

thanks a lot!

Hey guys, we appreciate that this info would help some of you out but, unfortunately, we simply don't have a concrete answer for you! There is some degree of flexibility in the way that this promotion has been set up, and although all parties do have an initial target number in mind, we are told that the promotion could be extended if all goes to plan...so the actual number, and the end date, are both unknown quantities! On top of that, we could be asked to end the promotion at any time.

That being said, we expect the promo to run for a couple of weeks at least. I would suggest that if anyone has a large number of domains that they are wishing to purchase or transfer, they reach out to our support team first ([email protected]) - they will be more than happy to check the current state of the promo and provide assurances, as necessary. Thousands shouldn't be an issue. ;)
