So it's a new month. We had a great discussion last month and I predicted we would see another big drop. This is another 20% drop from $95 to $75. It's amazing...just that's over 50% in just 2 months. How low can it go?

I believe most paid substantial registration for their LLL's at the time. So now...most are near reg fee. I have to look at my reciepts.

Owner of 3character.com has a nice article discussing the downturn of LLL.com's too which I am sure some here will point out that the .com's also lost ground.

http://www.3character.com/lll-commentary.html

He doesn't even bother to discuss mobi as many top tier domainers consider it now totally irrelevent to domainers.

Nor any other extension in that commentary...

Great logical extrapolation there :sold:

Also take a look at the current wholesale price of .mobis on the site (Hang on thought they were'nt talking about it !!!!)

"Current Observed Minimum Wholesale Price (regardless of letter combo) as of August 2, 2008:

3-Letter .com - $6000 (- $1650 since July 1, 2008 report) (See Related Commentary on Front Page)
3-Letter .net - $800 (- $30 since July 1, 2008 report)
3-Letter .org - $320 (Unchanged)
3-Letter .info - $115 (- $5 since July 1, 2008 report)
3-Letter .biz - $35 (- $5 since July 1, 2008 report)
3-Letter .us - $50 (Unchanged)
3-Letter .mobi - $75 (-$20 since July 1, 2008 report) "

.mobi and .com falling roughly the same percentage.

it seems .org is the most beneficial of the lot

There has seemingly been some upside to .org recently as many CNO fans find it undervalued. I think .com is priced high. .net market is probably healthy and the .org prices are ripe for picking good names relatively cheap.

Top tier domainers do focus more on .com overall though.

But what about this mobi drop? Are LLL.mobi holders feeling a bit of regret now not selling for $200-$300 when they could have?

It's a shame that the average price for LLL.mobi is still above LLL.us :yell:

ok, so look at it this way...

would you really rather have a LLL.info over a LLL.mobi?

Personally I'd rather have a LLL.mobi over org, info, us, etc.

And a good LLL.mobi over many LLL.net

So what does that make me a 263663th tier domainer...?

I'll see you all at the finish line, and we will be wherever we are, I'd rather customize my playbook than follow domainer price guides !!! _\|/_

.Org is a strange one. They go for the 3character minimum price at Sedo (actually $311 appears to be closer to the actual minimum wholesale July LLL.org price), snapnames, and namejets, but tend not to sell at all on the forums. It's the security of the institutional seller I suppose.

That doesn't work. This is a marketplace and pricing is collective. Buying and selling effect the market prices not opinions nor "playbooks".

And a good LLL.mobi over many LLL.net

So your saying you would rather have fun.mobi over dxz.net? DUH. I would rather have great.mobi than 3raf23c.com. Does that mean mobi is more valuable? Compare apples to apples not oranges.

That other thread was funny. I remember passing it up for posting. You can see that people didn't feel it would go this low and some claimed they would keep buying and buying at an under $100 level. I wonder if they really are though. They are at $75 now...they could very well hit $50 or less just like .biz and .us.

Hey...we have CNO (com net org) and now we have BUMI (biz us mobi info). lol

I'd like to know where 3character.com gets their sales info from. I have never seen a LLL mobi sell at an auction site like Sedo for $75. I have'nt even seen pricing that low on ebay! An occasional bulk sale on the forums may bring an average price per domain around $75-$100 but that's it.

I would like to see reported sales which indicate LLL mobi are selling for $100 on average. I doubt anyone has it and especially not for $75.

Good one Labrocca ... because of Enom's capacity to raise prices in the

future whimsically on some domains, some TOP tier domainers who I chatted

with recently would go so far as saying it should be BUMI.TV

I see 3char.com has L-L mobi at $15 which we all know is far
from reality. Sounds like this site has some work to do if it
wants to provide accurate data!

How about right here at NP? These sold at the auction just 2 days ago for $1050. That's $65 each as the highest bid. Unfortuanetly seems like seller is pulling out of the deal but that's not the important part. The important part is that mobi enthusiasts weren't all that willing to bid it up higher.

16 LLL.mobi domains: bvm.mobi, buk.mobi, bvb.mobi, fak.mobi, cbk.mobi, bva.mobi, bmd.mobi, dgi.mobi, eeh.mobi, dva.mobi, opz.mobi, ddu.mobi, akm.mobi, zzk.mobi, bhl.mobi, kil.mobi

You can read about 3characters methodology at their site. They take from a variety of sources. Probably you won't see these at these prices at Sedo because at such a low value Sedo take a bigger percentage.

Again these are Minimum Wholesale Value and don't represent premium situations like pronouncables or dictionary words. However it's a pure indicator of where valuations begin as a base. When selling most think "Oh I won't sell my LLL below X price". That X price is from 3characater.com normally or close to it.

As for ebay..

wed.mobi $499
srl.mobi $249 (didn't sell)
sob.mobi $4,999 (didn't sell)

So wed sold with 21 bids...seems like a low price for that domain wouldn't you agree?
SRL.mobi is actually good letters but yet for $249 it didn't get one bid.
SOB was obviously overpriced.

I would like to see reported sales which indicate LLL mobi are selling for $100 on average.

Again..that's NOT what the 3character price guide represents. It's not an average...it's a minimum wholesale price.

um, except me (you know, the guy you have on ignore)... i called that 100% 5 mother F'ing months ago and im a .mobi enthusiast.

are people "buying and buying" at the under $100 level? i will tell you all, as someone who was selling 100some "poor quality" LLL.mobi at once and i was selling them at the $80 level MONTHS before they hit this price on the almighty 3character.com

the answer is NO.. people are not "buying and buying" if you have a large quantity to offload. it takes a long time to sell them at what is perceived to be even "deep discount" rates... but again, this is to be expected around renewal anniversary of most .mobi's...

My new prediction: they will hit at least $30 for the "poorest quality" LLL by the end of this year. there will probably be buyers for most of them at this price level though, because this was approximately the cost of the "LLL.mobi buyout" back in October '06.

but..... im just some crazy personal attatcking .mobi extremist that isnt honest at all.... thats why you have me on ignore, right sir Jesse?

I, being a mobi enthusiast, would not bid on these for a few reasons...

1. I already have an extensive mobi portfolio like many other "enthusiasts".
2. Renewal time is here and I would rather renew what I have at reg fee vs. buying at aftermarket prices.
3. It was a sellers choice auction so most likely a waste of time.

Prices are surely dropping in the market as a whole. It may look bad for mobi because the extension has not matured yet. It's really no difference percentage wise from LLL .com though. Only difference is .com had 10+ years to gain value while mobi is just getting started.

One thing is for sure...there are deals to be had in the market place no matter which extensions you invest in!

Thanks for posting some of the reasons mobi will continue to drop in price.

And here is a quote from you just 10 weeks ago.

No doubt, $100 is a bargain and a smart move for the
long term investor. I will buy all I can while the market
is down and hold for better days!

One would think at $65 each you would have bought those in auction. Would you dare to post in the mobi section that you are buying all the LLL.mobi's for $100...heck ...for $80! I got a nagging suspicion you wouldn't do it because you know...there would be a FLOOD of sellers.

Right now...I wouldn't buy LLL.mobi's for $40.

I've actually been buying premium LLL only. The bulk lot that was in the auction contained almost all non-premium letters.

Now, if anyone wants, I will buy your ALL premium LLL mobi for $100 each. Send PMs and lets see how many I can get! BTW, can you show me a thread where ALL premium LLL mobis were offered for $100 or less? If you can I must have missed it.

labrocca, I'm curious what is the point of this thread exactly? Did you post another thread somewhere else at NP about the 20% drop in LLL.com? If not, I'd categorize this thread as more flame bait.

Give it up.... there is always some crazy excuse or exception for not putting one's money where one's mouth is. Next month you'll tell us you'll only buy ones that have blessed by the pope.
