.mobi LLL.mobi's just tanked

They just dropped at that price guide to $95 from $150. Percentage wise I think that's the biggest drop I have ever seen at the site.

Does that officially ring the alarm bell for some mobi enthusiasts? $95 ain't so great if you have LLL's from sunrise. Heck...I am kind of sad since I own a DXD.mobi but what can you? And yes...many will say that the price guide is just a guide but it's one used by a LOT of domainers as an indicator of value.

http://3character.com/2007-october.html

That was it's high of $200 I believe. Also the $95 price represents the same price as of Jan 2007 which is just 2 months after launch. Sad news indeed but please...go ahead and find the silver lining as I am sure many mobi fans will.

Good night mobi. Sleep well.

Last summer if you had a LLL.mobi for sale for $200 it would be sold instantly and if you listed it for $300 it would eventually sell, but today if you list one for only $100 it might not even sell. I have seen many for sale in the $65-$75 range lately. Now is a great time to be a buyer but a bad time to be a seller. Its not just mobi prices that are down, all domains in general seem to have been selling for a lot less.

According to 3character.com the big losers have been us,biz, info and mobi the past 6 months.

CNO have seen growth just fine.

I had a $350 offer for my LLL.mobi...maybe I should have taken it but I thought well it's just one domain so may as well keep it. Now I am not so sure. Will I ever see $350 offer again for that domain? Now I don't think so.

offer me $95 for my LLL.mobi and see how fast it gets rejected

truly a difference of those in it for the long haul and those looking for a quick flip - just like real estate it's a buyer's market

Yep, .mobi is just in a slump at the moment as the whole market is slow.
More and more .mobi sites are being developed by some of the largest companies in the world so i believe we will see their value increase over the next few years.

This is not accurate, the entire 3 letter market looks to be down to me, many sales reported below the the levels reported by 3character.com were seen last month.

xkd.com $7,100 2008-06-23 namejet.com

hmq.com $7,300 008-06-26 namejet.com

BIY.com $7400 (greatdomains)

RYY.com - $7,124 (Bido)

JUA.com - $7600 (greatdomains)

Those aren't exactly premium .com's, but regardless the .mobi was just a hot domain for a little bit. I don't know a single well known .mobi domain and it makes sense that all of the .mobi lose there value if the name doesn't grow over time.

In real estate the resellers are taking a big hit. This is a domainers site where most are resellers. In real estate a quick flip is done to lower costs and to prevent paying a mortgage. In domains quick flips need to be done to prevent reg-fee buildup or market saturation.

Mobi is going to start looking expensive after 4-5 years of renewals and no resales. Mobi portfolios will plummet.

While the positive news is that a lot of companies appear to be OK with using mobi that's really not a good thing for domainers. Any mobi that's a TM can be taken and I have yet to see substantial usage of mobi for startups. As a matter of fact I can't think of any even mid-grade. Stuff like dir.mobi is probably as good as it gets for startups.

Sorry mobi...as an investment you are looking rather shaky right now.

I agree I wouldn't sell for $95 either but when you could have sold in the $200-$300 range 6 months ago and rebought other LLL's today for $100-$150 don't you think it would have been wise to sell then? Do you really believe that LLL.mobi's will hit over $200 anytime soon? Certainly the $350 offer I recieved early in the year was a good offer. I was so-so on accepting it being I have only one LLL.mobi. For those holding large portfolios much of which remains undeveloped one has to wonder why continue to renew them?

The drops are going to be huge soon. The clock is ticking.

It is irrelevant, the domain industry is full of people who would not sell their names anywhere near market price (me included most of the time lol). what matters is where the people willing to sell, and the people willing to buy, are transacting at, today, right now. They are the market.

OMG....the housing market has dropped 40% in many areas of the United States. Everyone hurry out and list your houses. SELL SELL SELL! Houses are dying and won't be around in 5 years. Don't get caught owning a house when you can dump it and get a little bit of money out of it right NOW!

;) These names aren't exactly comparable to investing in houses.

 It's funny how you compare an invisible $150 LLL.mobi internet domain name to a $150,000 home in the United States.

Just some simple questions. :)

Who Own's 3 character .com?
What is 3character.com and What is their process for evaluating these prices?
When and how long have they been producing these studies?
Why would it matter to a domainer/Developer about these results?

Can anyone help me with these answers?

RYY.com - $7,124
JUA.com - $7600

There was a period not long ago when a couple of these would have sold for a minimum of 9 if not $10k, IMO.

Mr. Mobey needed this while he was still alive.

It took me an entire 2 minutes to put this together, so this is the 2nd thread I've posted it in.

From that site: "In the unlikely event you have a painful or prolonged erection (lasting more than 4 hours), stop using this drug and seek immediate medical attention or permanent problems could occur. "

Uhh, no - in that unlikely event I will call a prostitute. :hehe:

Some of you think it's funny about the comment I made about houses being compared to mobi. You obviously fell right into my lap to prove a point. You don't have anything better to do than to sit in the .mobi forum and post because you feel threatened by .mobi. There is no other ligit reason for you to even be in here. I don't go post in .tv or .us because I don't have a vested interest in those domains. Not because I think they are good or bad. You should really look at your goals in business and reconsider why you are even in this thread. :)
