Thats a lot of foreign/ bona fida. I wonder if the %'s have changed much, the quantity has for sure.

Top Registrants being the operative words here kids.
Dotster sitting on top of this list at the time, but as I scan down the list... I dont recognize very many of these Reg Houses (Registrant organization). I do recognize a couple of Registrant Sir names however. Not to imply anything directly at anyone, but I wonder if just one or two of these companies were formed with self serving agendas.


I guess my point in all this boils down to...

Who was in control of the process?
Was this brother in law heaven?
Between the "New" Reg Houses, and that stat I showed up the page a bit, the Bona Fido's snatching up 12766 names which was 58.7%, and at least a couple of those could be considered "Premium", the regular Joe didnt stand a chance, what do you think?

They haven't fufilled their obiligation with the US Department of Commerce, they clearly do not enforce the policies of the .US name space and it appears that they have turned the zipcode search .US into a big ppc site...

Just seems to me that a company that wants to hold on to their registrar would be less abusive and obvious

I've had my eye on this bloke for sometime. I doubt Neustar will ever do anything about it.

Neustar have to investigate any non-USA reg that is reported to them, it's part of their contract. However, all anyone needs is a USA citizen willing to stand up and say "That name is mine!" and they're covered. They do random checks too, I had one on one of my own names where I had to fax in my ID as proof of US residence.

It was you that started this whole thing. I was checking the 666 deal and came across that Harvard Report with your sellers name in it.
The more I looked, the more confused I got. I am now going through all the landrush US citizen regs, and so far the majority of "Premiums" are still sitting in euro.

Of all landrush reg's I've checled so far, (approx 60,000) about 70-80% are still reg'd and about 45-50% to the original registrants.
It looks like from the dates, there were some earlybirds compared to the general public. w/e, it looks bad.

Those that looked at the reports saw that these were 2 examples, and not even touching on the amount.
those first 12,000 names... not too many foolish regs...
the pr0n guy went all dumb, but I ran every name in that list and 80% are still reg'd.

I posted the links to the reports, I should have posted the entire reports. IT IS INSANE what went to euro under that guise, and the number of new registrars that were allowed for the rape is criminal... we know some of these guys.

According to their agreement with the DOC they were to promote the .US namespace and protect it from foriegn ownership. In June of 2006 ( http://www.ntia.doc.gov/ntiahome/domainname/usca/usamend0015_10122005.pdf ) they were to have the zipcode search portal completed.
This portal was to be used to stimulate local economy. Only local business with a .US address could advertise on it. Today if you go to any of the 44k + sites (yourzipcode.us) you will only see local weather, census info and google adwords. I have yet to see an advertiser with a .US domain, as the agreement requires.

It does not take a genius to figure out that if each page were doing say... .10 per day adsense that they are bringing in over $130k per month on adsense.

I would just like to understand how this project went from trying to stimulate local industry, to a revenue generating proposition for Neustar?

I think the DoC needs to start enforcing their agreement... :imho:

Perhaps you could clarify the process you went through
to get that status. This is not an attack on you personally,
I am just wondering how the individules were allowed to
set themselves up into a position of advantage.

Neustar have to investigate any non-USA reg that is reported to them, it's part of their contract. However, all anyone needs is a USA citizen willing to stand up and say "That name is mine!" and they're covered. They do random checks too, I had one on one of my own names where I had to fax in my ID as proof of US residence.

Good point, but the majority I have found so far that went offshore are still reg'd offshore. It is a matter of do these people fullfil the Nexus requirments. I'm sure the big players have covered their butts... or have they?

The next list I post will be of the what domainers consider premium names, and if you were suprised at the list that went to Canada above.... be sure you are sitting down.

I have backordered through GoDaddy (the listed registrar of these domains) 17 NNN.us. Now I find this evening that they are all up for auction @ TDNAM, their auction house.

How can GD discriminatly choose what domains go to auction and what do not?

I spoke with GD this evening and was told that they sent me several emails stating that they went to auction, however I do not have one email from them. I always have emails stating "this is due" "this is about due" etc. But not one email stating "sorry, we took your backorder money, but we changed our minds, we are going to auction off these domains".

Instead the gentelman pointed me to their legal agreement
that states

The domain name may also be subject to a drop pool process before it is available for purchasing.

What is the point of the GD backorder system? Seems to me an easy way to alert them of what domains that the general public might be interested in so that they might capitalize on that information.

GD's backorder system is pretty much worthless if you are trying to backorder domains that are at GD, BR, or WWD. All the expired domains from GD, BR, and WWD go to TDNAM regardless if someone has them backordered.

If a domain is dropping from one of those three registrars, it is better to keep your eye on the TDNAM auction and save yourself the money for the backorder (which won't get you anything).

Stupidly, that is why I backordered them, because of the fact that they were the registrar and thought I would stand a good chance of catching them.

Impossible to back order any NNN or LLL anything with GoDaddy. All will go to TDNAM auction.

Possibly, or...

The names were surrendered/seized for not being a US citizen per the NEXUS terms.

Or, simply has not renewed yet. That's the option...can still renew even if you win the domain at auction.
