$20 Banner Contest - Poker Forum

Hi,

I am looking for a banner to advertise a poker forum, where people can talk about their experiences playing poker online, in brick and mortar casinos, in tournaments, etc.

The banner needs to be the standard dimension of 468*60 and can be either static or animated depending on your take on the project and requirements.

I want it to be eyecatching with graphics related to the concept, not just plain text. I have no specific colour scheme requirements, and no logo, or marketing slogans to give you, so feel free to experiment, although a logo is not required. What I really want is some sort of concept that is new and exciting, and will actually want people to click on the banner and find out more.

The winner I select will be paid $20 via PayPal, and is likely to be at the top of the pile when it comes to looking for a designer for future banner requirements. Should I feel that no banners submitted are of the standard I require, then I reserve the right not to select any.

Edit: I have decided to extend the deadline to Thursday 28th July at 18:00 (EST) so I can hopefully have some more entries. Please respond in this post rather than sending PM's.

Dotcommakers, I think that banner looks better integrated than the first submission, but it looks like its advertising a poker room, not a poker forum.

I really want to get away from the standard banner design and want an unique, eyecatching concept.

I like the last submission by 'krishm'. It is much more in the direction of what I am after. I will give some more thorough feedback on it when I have had the time to digest it, but thought this comment may provide help to others with their submissions.

As promised, here is some more detailed feedback on "krishm's" submissions which I also hope may help guide those yet to submit a banner.

I prefer the 2nd example with the addition of the center graphic, and the colour scheme of the banner makes it stand out well. A couple of problems I have is that the text at one point goes slightly under the center graphic, and it is not simply a forum for "online poker", but all games of poker (both online and in poker rooms).

I'm also not completely convinced about the area of the banner reserved to "Click Here", and it would be good to have some more emphasis on the poker forum part, so people immediately know what it is, i.e. its not another poker room or a site 100% dedicated to affiliate links and pimping various rooms, without any real substance. Its a forum where keen poker enthusiasts can share their experiences.

Ok, Some comments.

I like this as its different, and not really something I have seen before so well done on that point.

I'm not a great fan of this one. I'm sure the images would be of better quality on a finished version, but it just looks like every other banner I've seen. There's nothing about it currently to make it stand out.

I would have to say at the moment its very close between this and 'carsncars'. I really like the tone of images used, and it looks very bright and attractive. I know 'krishm' that you PM'd ,me with a couple alterations, but I wasn't too keen on what you had changed and I would have to say this is the best of what you have currently submitted.

Well if you're still accepting.. according to krishm's post, here we go.

I was actually planning a pulsating glow on the 'P O K E R f o r u m' text and a card animation sliding across, but it was past the deadline... if you're interested, I'll see what I can do with it.

The aim here was to differentiate it from those online poker rooms-- I went a little more 'sophisticated'. I tried it in plain silver at first, but it didn't really 'pop' very well. =d

I know its not much, but I haven't even built the site yet, so I won't need to advertise for a while. I hate to see such nice work go to waste.
