============

In keeping with the spirit of IconPack's 150 Domaining Tips thread, I thought I'd make a thread where everyone can post their biggest pet peeves and annoyances with newbies. That way, new members can learn what not to do, or can at least be sent to this thread if they do something annoying.

Rules:
  • Keep it short.
  • Keep it NamePros forum specific.
  • Be nice. This isn't a thread to bash new members, it's a place to post advice.
  • Try not to duplicate other people's posts.

I'll start:

My biggest pet peeves are:

1) When someone argues with people replying to their appraisal request.
2) Misleading or ambiguous (vague) thread titles.
3) People begging for reputation points.

10. Post a domain for appraisal and put it on sale at the same time...
11. Register a domain then ask for advice on what it could possibly be used for...

12. Register a bunch of names for sale at a Registrar doesn't allow a free push. (the only good news is they were very cheap .info's that I will simply allow to expire)

13. Expecting to sell at retail prices on NamePro's. For the most part no end-users here - so don't expect end-user pricing.

2) Misleading or ambiguous (vague) thread titles.

I think this one is the most important one for me. Most of the people dont give enough information in their thread titles.

14) People that believe in the new ccTLD hypes.

15) Asking a million questions at once, that are all answerable by spending a few minutes searching and reading.

16) People that post comments/trash/appraisals on a sales thread.

17) Making an offer in the Fixed Price forum, especially when the listing says "firm" or "no offers".

18) PM'ing everyone on the members list with your
[cough] "premium" domains or services, like WE were new!

19) Registering a bunch of nonsense domains when you're unfamiliar with the English language.

21) Posting in the wrong section of the forum, particularly a sales thread in the domain discussion zone.
22) Offering incorrect advice. If you are not experienced with something, do not pretend to be.

23) Talking Like This To Try To Make Them Selves Look Like They Know The English Language, And Grammar System. That makes me mad.

LOL damn, beat me by a few seconds up there. And got one of the same ones I had.
I had:
24) Offering advice for things that are unknown to the indivigual offering the advice

I'll make it into....

24) When they make errors, they blame it on: Text editor, Microsoft, Apple, George bush, or the unknown monkey who lives next door. Never themselves.
