No that's quite reasonable. I've been only domaining since September myself. Iave learned alot about domains from podcasts like domainsherpa and dnw but until recently I too was unsure what registrar made the most sense to use. I've recently settled on Epik because I really like how accessible
@Rob Monster the CEO is. When I had names at Godaddy or Dynadot for example I found it frustrating to deal with their support. I've found Epik to be very responsive at all levels. Not a big fan of their interface but it could be worse.
I have come to notice some Namepros users are strongly anti Epik which is fine, I'm strongly anti Godaddy though many people do use them. My best recommendation is to try many different registrars. Put some names in Epik some in Dynadot, some in Namesilo, ect and see what you prefer.
