    Epik.

    • Attractive and very functional landers
    • Marketplace offers unmatched flexibility with respect to purchase and lease options
    • Very useful “Performance” info
    • Pricing is very investor-friendly
    • Great customer support
    • Various payment options, including crypto

I’ll give Dynadot and Porkbun their due. They have attractive user interfaces. But I want some horsepower under the hood as well. Epik goes the distance.

Godaddy is so buggy. I am scared that someday my domains will be gone for no reason.

    I stick with Dynadot.

Namecheap just lost one of my domains. They charged my card and updated the renewal date in my account 11 months ago. When I attempted to transfer the domain a few days ago, they couldn't provide the auth code. Now they are saying "oops, it was a glitch and our system let the domain drop".

Porkbun sends an email on every login. Godaddy has nice 2 factor and it's fine to park names there. I wouldn't put a live site in their hands though.

All registrars are more or less safe enough. Safety is not a criteria for me as it's directly related to user not provider. Just choose a registrar with low prices and stop worrying about how safe it is.

I transferred my names to @epik and i must say i am really happy with it. @Rob Monster personally helped, guided and insured me to set up everything right. Thank you i am happy as your customer.

My own little experience hasn’t been great at godaddy specially with their customer support but you can’t ignore them because of aftermarket purchases. in future i will definitely try all other registers mentioned here, though i believe it will be difficult to beat epik customer experience but it will be good to see competition.

    Thanks,
    Bharat

Thank you. Do they allow afternic and sedo premium listings?

for over a decade, i was mainly Enom.com user with reseller account, then they raised registration costs 50%
    so I moved to Fabulous.com and Dynadot.com

    haven't had any issues.

    imo...

I have a majority of my names at GoDaddy. If you have enough names and spend enough every 6 months (I'm not sure of the actual figures), then you can qualify for a Premier Services Account. This gives you a dedicated Account Rep (who is part of a team that handles Premier Services Accounts). So in case your dedicated Service Rep is busy or out-of-office, you can at least speak with someone else on that Dedicated Team.

The biggest feature for me as a Premier Services Account Holder is their DTVS (Domain Transfer Verification Service). Basically, they call me for verification before any name leaves my account. I think this is the best security feature, and is the reason I keep all of my best names at GoDaddy.

That being said, if anyone knows of another Registrar that provides DTVS (or similar), please let me know. I would consider moving a large amount of names if the other registrar offers DTVS (required), plus a good Bulk Transfer Cost per domain, as well as other features such as free privacy or free escrow...

If I currently had to choose, probably EPIK, since it also has SEDO MLS and Afternic fast transfer capability.

So you are experienced enough to know the lingo and the value of cvcv domains (I assume .com?), but you are not experienced enough to know which registrar is safe/unsafe?

It is like someone saying he just started studying physics and in the next sentence going into discussing the shortcomings of the theory of relativity.

Looks like another promo-thread to me...

@BharatR - I don't think you ever said which registrar you use currently. If you did, I missed it.

Can you let us know who your current registrar is (meaning the one you are transferring the recently acquired cvcv domains from)?

I am not experienced by any means. Its part time for me. In my short time of domain investing i learnt that liquid domain investing can be better strategy for me so i recently bought cvcv. Till recently i had never moved beyond godaddy. And yes i didn't knew much about other registers. Is this unlikely scenario? Even if yes then it is the actually situation with me.

The cvcv i transferred from seller were at diff register.

I was at godaddy. My experience before this post has only been with godaddy and bigrock.

No that's quite reasonable. I've been only domaining since September myself. Iave learned alot about domains from podcasts like domainsherpa and dnw but until recently I too was unsure what registrar made the most sense to use. I've recently settled on Epik because I really like how accessible @Rob Monster the CEO is. When I had names at Godaddy or Dynadot for example I found it frustrating to deal with their support. I've found Epik to be very responsive at all levels. Not a big fan of their interface but it could be worse.

I have come to notice some Namepros users are strongly anti Epik which is fine, I'm strongly anti Godaddy though many people do use them. My best recommendation is to try many different registrars. Put some names in Epik some in Dynadot, some in Namesilo, ect and see what you prefer.

No, you're good. It's just Recons not reading closely enough what you asked for in your title and your OP.

That is fantastic! You are fast learner. I am just amazed that you managed to acquire few cvcv and already know what to pay and what makes a fair value for a name.

I am also amazed that you are already fed up with GD and looking to move away. Any specific reason for this? And normally people don't look for transfers after just having bought names, they do it closer to the expiration dates, so there must be some very negative experience?

And, assuming that is the case, I will still advise that you stay with GD, if you are planning to grow your portfolio and DDC makes sense for you (200+ names). Their biggest draws are a) dedicated account rep; b) best prices for .com c) Afternic (since you know what cvcv and how much to pay/sell those for, I assume you know that service too). While you can do fast transfer from some other registrars, from my personal experience GD names sell at much higher rates via Afternic than the ones listed elsewhere.

In general, all ICANN verified and reputed ones are good that include, DynaDot, Epik, GoDaddy, NameCheap, etc but I do have some of my primary domains (registered before 2005) still left with NetSol and OnlineNIC both of which are not up to date as compared to the previous ones I told.

I have totally moved Out of Enom and Register.com, which used to be the Best registrars in the 1999-2002 era but could not cope up with the changing times due to their superiority complex.

With so many domains, I also look for the transfer offers each year and hence the domains keep changing registrars each year, lol. I hope this info can help you and others too.

I hope you are not sarcastic. 😀 i never claimed to be expert in cvcv or anything else. Yes i have been there for few years. Joined NP late and trying to learn from seniors like you in various social media and this forum.
Since you are amazed. How much time taken for this would have been considered normal to you?

About godaddy their customer support charged me 80$ redemption fees for one name when it was possible to transfer it away. Their customer support guided me in wrong direction.
They charged 18% tax many others don't
They also miss sedo premium listing
Lastly my account was almost compromised i got it back soon. But yes i didn't had 2fa activated.
So i wanted to look for other options and mind you i still like godaddy for lot of other things. i would have anyway looked for other options lime now i am really satisfied with epik experience but still would love to have some register better them Thats why i am still willing to try other options. Is this uncommon? I am like this.

Best prices for .com ? In my experience they charge very high rates compare to others specially renewal rates. Also tax. Anyways Thanks for your other valuable suggestions. I will note it. And as i mentioned above i would never completely move away from gd. I understand its importance in industry.

No one is anti-Epik. What people want is less infomercials. Most of us are in some line of business besides domains. Imagine every post we write complete with inserts about our businesses, sometimes little relevance and sometimes some relevance, or links to our other threads where we also do lots of our inserts etc. The forum would become intolerable, would get the fake feel to it, like everyone is trying to sell something all the time and is not genuine.

For them, the tactics will earn some customers and business, but also will backfire. I hope they have done the calculation and new gains outweigh the losses. I assume they will get many newbies, but lose many of the experienced ones, but only they will know the outcome.
