Reread my post, take a deep breath and chill with the caps button. I never shared all the details about the entire call nor did I share details about our email exchanges, so I don't know where this negativity is coming from.
P.S. Instead of talking down, how about you share points in your sales routine VRdommy? Share the wealth! What particular numbers do you pitch about how a domain benefits a business?
I think it's clear what you did and didn't do from the first post. Calm Down !!!
Sorry you take it that way. You shared what you learned and I added my experience to it.
So I guess all I can say is... Sorry about your 'luck' , if that is what it is !
My pitches are situation specific because I take the time to know and understand who I am pitching to and what they might need and how my name might help with that.
I am 40% more recent success with cold calling after 12 years of practice.
The reason for that is, I don't try to sell something to someone that can't be a benefit to the end-user.
If you can't do/show that before the call, it is better "not" to make it in the first place. Wasted time.
You drill for oil where the oil is known to be.
You did not seem to know the end-user did not have a web presence before the call so you had a battle and sale to make with selling a web presence even before getting started with the pitching of the name.
You were not prepared for that as you did not expect it from the lack of just a little simple research.
But I already know that most of the APP's guys are probably correct in their assumption they do not need a web presence. Some who do dozens of apps, like to have one site to center on their creative talents.
They do in-platform promotions and web adds that lead users to the platform's web page with their listing. i.e. itunes store etc and the majority of that is done with mobile adds. Very targeted.
I doubt I would have ever pitched a name to a APP guy in the first place, especially one without a existing web presence.
And unless the name has high type-in traffic or search query's, there is very little you can say about a VR Name right now to show it has a marketing benefit to the buyer and add value.
The stats are not there and valuations reflect that.
With a few exceptions, that is why I have not been pitching my VR Names yet... To early.
Needless to say, I don't make that many pitches but the ones I make, I make count for all it is worth.
Sorry if I'm talking down in negativity but you did not do your homework before the cold call IMHO.
