While recovering from the past weekend of scattered deals and in anticipation of the next SuperSale, I am weary of having several threads related to the SuperSales at Domain - MyDomain - NetFirms - Dotster.

Since the promos often work at more than one reseller, I would love to have a single thread to watch and participate in, if you agree, hang out here and watch this thread!

All NPers are welcome to post coupons and promos here as long as they are Domain - MyDomain - NetFirms - Dotster. That way we all have a better chance at awesome savings as soon as the promos are live!

The usernamex Guide to SuperSales

SuperSales are promotions done by the family of registrars under Domain.com, including MyDomain.com NetFirms.com Dotster.com

About every 10 days to two weeks, one or more of these registrars runs what I like to call SuperSales - with dot COM / NET domain registrations for bargain prices, $1.99 - $2.99 - $3.99. Sometimes the specials are good for multi-year registrations, sometimes only the first year is discounted.

The super fun part is they let you use coupons ON TOP of the promo, so there have been specials as low as $1.39, $1.59 is more common, and $1.99 is still great any time!

If you are new, the best choice is usually MyDomain, since their renewals are second best (to Domain) and I have not seen the $1.99 special ever offered at Domain direct

A great way to get an account set up is NOT during the frenzy of the SuperSales, and a trick you can use without having to contact support is to buy the easiest to type/remember cheapest domain you can, like whatever ngTLD is on sale for $1.99, that will be your username. You can drop the domain after a year and your account will be fine. Otherwise get on chat and they can set you up ahead of time without having to make a purchase.

To make it easy for everyone, if you can BOLD any coupon codes, that would be super, and if you tested coupons successfully, please mention the reseller where you tested.

Friendly Reminder for everyone - Double Check that you have DOWNGRADED your domfam - Domain/MyDomain/NetFirms/Dotster accounts to PARKING ONLY

Be sure to go in and DISABLE the hosting renewal, you should end up with "Downgrade Account" they have you double confirm out

You can access these links in the upper RIGHT corner of the control panel "Account" with the dropdown options

go here to downgrade - or use "Account" -> "Account Renewal"
https://www.mydomain.com/controlpanel/BillingCentral/account_renewal.bml?ref=cpdropdown

then you can make sure it says "Scheduled to Downgrade" on this page - or use "Account" -> "Billing Central"
https://www.mydomain.com/secureControl/BillingCentral/3.0/?ref=cpdropdown#/

(Replace sibling in above links as needed)
Just for fun I made a five page pdf with screenshots - it could use annotations

@korganian I am curious if this is what your Domain.com email warning was about? If so that would be great so no one will be caught off guard

Woah, that's really important. They would have got me on hosting if you hadn't called to my attention. And the process to stop this, they purposely make to look and sound like a bad choice i.e. using the term 'downgrading account.' Then the grim looking pop up warning box on black background in step 2 "To ensure that your domain and additional products are set to their proper renewal status, please contact us."

All to ensure that people get caught in year 2 for hosting cost. I would have been wary of making the change at a few steps of the process, if not for your- how to do it pdf. Big Thanks for making it. Everyone who has domains there and is in year 1 of them would be wise to check it out and use. Thanks muchly @usernamex :)

DMDN uses the first initial of each sibling co.

It is quick to type and easy to remember.

"The Family" takes longer to type and is still pretty long.

We've tentatively agreed on domfam, I think...

That is how I came up with DMDN, that alternates the "D's", which I think makes it easier to remember

Oh ignore that @ramkumaritrvs - I just plug in an IO to test the coupons out of habit since they are expensive so when there's a cart minimum I only have to pull two auth codes : smile :

I test strange things : eek :

.bz renew - 1 year $16.95 billed for 12 months $12.71 Total: $12.71

Sometimes the promo codes work for these things anyway.

Some of us try them out and report what works and what doesn't.

They almost always work, but some retribution might come at some point in the future,

The only real issue I had was that they tried to auto bill me early for renewals and they had no option to turn off auto renewal in my control panel. I suggest using a refillable debit card when they have a special like this so that they don't have access to your bank account.

They also require you to call them to reactivate your expired domains to transfer them out, but they have very friendly phone support so that was no problem.

They never asked me for any documents or ID.
