This thread is a central location to report domain name sales of any dollar amount.

As much information as you can include about the transaction is welcome, but at a bare minimum please include the domain name(s), the sale price, and whether you were the seller.

Good luck with your sales!

Please use the Like and Thank links on a post to indicate that you like it or are thankful for it being shared.

Do not post only, "great sale" or similar as this doesn't contribute to the thread. (Don't reply for the sole purpose of complimenting.)
  • Tip: Use the Like/Thanks feature instead.

Questions are allowed, but do not post commentary. If you want to discuss or comment on a sale in this thread, quote it and then post it in the following thread instead:

Strictly reporting a sale.... like we're supposed to be doing in this thread....

Mondys dot com
Sale Price: $788
Venue: Godaddy Premium

Picked up at Godaddy expiring auctions about a week or two ago for around $20-25. Sold through premium listing within a week. I'm sure I left money on the table, but I'm kind tired of waiting for that "killer offer" on my names and it's the first sale in awhile so I'm satisfied enough.

So wait, it wasn'

? what.

Explain the amazon thing because I'm lost and I also tweeted out that amazon bought it which i just deleted. What is going on.

Google "Instant Pickup".

Amazon just started this huge service. The same time I was receiving all these offers and the domain sold 2-3 days after news broke. So I didn't check whois which I usually don't do because domains that sell at AfterNic mostly don't have whois updated.

Amazon is not the buyer. My bad. Sorry.

Amazon should've been the buyer though. imo

This sale actually started months ago but it finished today - it was an instalment sale, so I'll report it today:

Domain: Flee -- The -- City.com
Platform: Undeveloped.com: lander + BIN
Price: $1500
Commission: 15%

Kudos to @reza for getting this over the line, the buyer paid in a few different batches.

umm.. that's weird.

wow.

I wonder what was Amazon thinking.

Thanks

Amazon does not really value best domains for the launches if my experience with them is anything to go by for the domain name Echo Device but they are up and on purchasing less worthy names for same echo product. Expect them to be buying related domain names instead of InstantPickUp.com

Amazon dont need a name like this, they will just use Amazon.com/InstantPickup like most big companies do when launching new products

two small sales at afternic, both in COM
S/T/O/R/E/L/O 199
N/a/m/i/n/i/n/g 199

both were registered at fasthosts for 1 pound

not exactly happy with above sales because i probably missed 4-5 fig sale with the 2nd one, this i realized after i checked whois to know who purchased it, and the buyer is North American Coal Corporation. NACC is the largest lignite coal producer in the United States, and also ranks among the top ten of all coal producers. You can know more about them by reading their wiki page. Their main website Nacoal dot com (north american coal), The domain they purchased stands for North American Mining. I didn't knew about it and kept it for just 199 BIN, missed opportunity.

There is other side too I kept it at 199 because this domain i tried to sell here at NP for 5$ and then 3$ at least 7-8 times without any success and i personally also thought its just a ok name which can hardly have any value. besides it was expiring in 40 days time. so considering everything i kept it 199, here it can be taken positively that i got 199 instead of 3-5$ when i tried to sell it at NP.

Mixed Feeling.

WeCozy / .com $450

Buy it now. Regged on the drop via Fasthosts 1 pound deal.

Sold though me Efty Landing page.

I set my BIN on my Efty lander to slightly less than the ones on Sedo or Afternic. The buyer sees they can save a little and I clear more profit from my net after commissions Before clicking The BIN elsewhere most people will type in the name. When they see the BIN is lower they can save some money and many do.

You thought I am done?

Domain name: Instant/Pickup dot com
Sale venue: AfterNic
Seller: Me
Asking price: $4999
Sale price: $4999
Purchase price: $26
Details:

The buyer for this domain is Amazon. You read that right.

Listed this for $4999 since I bought it few months ago. I bought this to sell to InstantPickup.net guys but never contacted them.

Received offer from Nigeria once, and after I gave them my asking price they never replied, now I see they're using InstantPickupApp.com.

Last week I was shifting to a new apartment and was too busy to reply to offers and other emails.

Received 7-8 offers on this through Sedo, Efty and whois email in 2-3 days. From $20 to Max $500 offers. Never replied to anyone because of the above reason.

I wondered why this domain is receiving so much interest but never did any research. I thought that maybe it's the same buyer, maybe someone is trying to hide their identity, who knows. I usually do research and reply as soon as possible but I thought I had nothing to lose.

Those were all re-sellers who read the news on the first page of google, Amazon has started this new service, announced the name before buying the domain. The re-sellers wanted to grab the domain for cheap and sell it to Amazon for a lot of money obviously.

If only I had googled the name, if only! I would've increased the asking price to $50k or maybe I would've removed the price and waited for them to make an offer.

I was happy with $4999 before I knew who the buyer was, it happened so fast but if I wasn't so lazy I could've just spent a second on google and increased the price in a few minutes!

I will receive $3,999.20 after AfterNic's commission.

Anyways, which business lets you sell a $50 thing for $13k or a $26 for $5k. I can't think of any. There is no business like this.

It's a great business, especially for lazy people like me. Waking up, whenever you want, being your own boss, wearing the same clothes for a week, lol. Playing a video game for hours and then checking your mail and you have sold a domain, sleeping 12 hours a day and you wake up and have made $11k.. riding a gravy train like a boss.

You can do it too, all you need to do is stop spraying bullets and learn how to take headshots.

I heard when I was a child that money doesn't grow on trees, that was not true.

Thanks.

P.S: The buyer is not Amazon, my bad. Sorry.

You're doing really well, i wish i could sell any of my domains that i bought for $20 for that sort of money. I put some domains on Afternic and Sedo which i had bought for dynadot expired auctions in a bidding war and i still dont get interest on them. lol. Just my luck through

Domain name: Square/Financial dot com
Sale venue: AfterNic
Seller: Me
Asking price: $12999
Sale price: $12999
Purchase price: $38 + 1 yr renewal
Details:

Great finance name with a lot of potential buyers, contacted all of them but no reply, wanted to follow up but I am lazy and I renewed the domain telling myself I would follow up later.

When I bought this domain over a year ago I listed it for $14999 but after asking for appraisals here and not getting any replies from potential buyers I decreased the price at AfterNic/Sedo to $2999 or $3999. Then I recently changed prices for all my domains and for some reason I loved this domain and increased the price to $12999.

Recently renewed it and buyer just bought it via AfterNic or one of it's partner, never made any counter offer.

Will receive $10,794.15 after AfterNic's commission.

I reported this sale without mentioning the domain on a thread and in NP Chatroom but mistakenly said that the purchase price was $13, recently checked order history and found that purchase price was $38. 13 to 13k sounded cool.

No big deal though, I have several $20 domains I will sell for $20k no doubt and maybe even 50k or 100k if I get luckier.

Your's freakin' truly,

Haris

Nicely done, congrats! May I ask how long were the domains posted on BB before the sales? Thanks!

I think most sold within 12 months after publishing them on BB, maybe one or two were held for 2 years or so...

Some of last months (August) sales below:

qrypt dot com... $29k
Inbound via hypernames.co
Purchased at the start of July for $975 (roughly 6 weeks earlier).
Was very surprised when I bought this domain as I was expecting to pay more.
Had multiple four/five-figure offers within weeks of buying it. Just got lucky with the timing as the heat ramped up in the ICO/crypto space. Fixed a reasonable (non-negotiable) price that I felt represented the commercial value and let all interested parties know via email.

data dot science... $12.5k
Inbound via hypernames.co
Purchased in 2015, but can't disclose purchase price.
Made more on the GBP/USD movement (weaker sterling) than I did on the dollar margin itself.
Think it has some pretty awesome potential, so a little sad to see it go but it went to a great home/owner.
A cool nGTLD with a non-premium renewal price. My third data-science related sale in as many years.

hypr dot co
... $2k
Outbound. Hand-regd in 2012.
Bought this domain for personal use in 2012, hence the long hold at a high-renewal price. Listed it on Sedo whilst I waited to use it... had a few $XXX offers over the years. Decided not to use it after purchasing Hypernames.co, so sent out emails to three potential buyers.

All three sales closed via Escrow.com.

A note about pricing strategy...

For many years, I used 'Make Offer' with no price on all my domains, waiting for an incoming number. It was a subconscious safety-blanket because I didn't know how to value/price my own inventory.
This always resulted in lowballs on Sedo. And when I received emails via whois asking 'how much?', I would reply with some variant of 'you make an offer'. This method yielded fewer replies, so possibly it was a point of friction for potential buyers whom felt uncomfortable saying their number first or maybe even didn't know where to start.

This year, I've been making much more effort to clearly price my domains - regardless of whether they're set to Make Offer or Buy It Now.
With a guide price, it has become easier to communicate clearly with potential buyers and sets a starting point for negotiation. A lot of buyers are super busy people, so the last thing I want to do is waste their time playing 'you-go-first'.
I now have sales prices on most domains based on a combination of research and gut feel. Alongside this, I have a constantly evolving excel sheet with private targets / acceptable exit-points.
I'm going for the moon on a few, ambitious on most and slightly-above-market-rates on the rest.

Definitely debatable as a strategy, but to do this, I had to let go of the fear of leaving (hypothetical) money on the table. Better to have bread and butter today than constantly wait for jam tomorrow.

Just left them on BB, sometimes I remove names, and later re-add them to test things out etc.
