information Sedo Unveils a Radical New Design

Spaceship Spaceship
The popular domain name marketplace, Sedo, has unveiled a brand new, comprehensive redesign that marks the end of an era in terms of the company’s traditional blue and white colour scheme, with the new design opting for a colour scheme consisting primarily of grey and blue, with all pages being affected by the marketplace’s redesign.

The new design includes a brand new homepage that is far cleaner and more concise than its predecessor. The featured domain names take pride of place on the homepage, along with adverts for marketplace auctions and Sedo’s own auction events.

Sedo's New Home Page

Searching for domain names is as simple as ever with the new design, thanks to the ever present domain search bar at the top of the page, and easy access to a range of features once you’re on the domain search page. Sedo’s redesign also makes it easier to switch between languages, with 12 different language options available, including Chinese.

Sedo CEO Tobias Flaitz said “We’re very proud of the newly designed website going live. This crucial step upholds Sedo as THE most trusted and leading business partner for global premium domain trading. With this responsive design now available on all devices, the opportunities for success are increased and supported by value adding services and maximizing domain monetization.”

One change that all regular Sedo users will see is the enhanced domain landing page. While the design of Sedo’s parking pages are currently the same, the domain’s landing pages have had a complete redesign, with a central image and statistics. The domain landing pages are all mobile friendly, which, considering that the smartphone is now the most popular way to browse the Internet, is very good news.

The landing pages' "Buy Now" button has been moved to the right of the page on a desktop layout, but becomes centralised on the mobile version.

Early reactions to this redesign are mixed, with some investors calling the new interface "nice, elegant and more professional", while others are more critical.

Sedo regularly published weekly sales figures totaling $1 million or more, so it will be interesting to see whether this new design has a positive or negative effect on those figures in the next few months.

Great, thanks!

The issue is noted and on our road map. Some more pressing issues will have a higher prio, but the change will come, indeed.

Are they still working with the website or they are done? I am not impressed with sedo's new design. Lots of things need to get fixed.

Its totally mind boggling that they allowed this rubbish to go live.
Bugs everywhere !! Didnt they do any beta testing?

The homepage feel is unprofessional, cheap looking, and the most very basic links are missing.

I would hazzard a guess, that sedo have had many complaints from domainers, who have paid out top whack for auction listings. I will certainly be holding off the auctions i had planned there, until they fix all these problems.

One other point:
Responsive is good, no question.
But responsive means not that some essential information should disappear at the mobile screens.
But unfortunately, exactly that's the case:

The (currently) 3 (hope they will become 5 as I described) circles (visitors, listing year and bids) are not visible on mobile screens.

I really think, those essential informations should be visible in every screen size (responsive) - especially the number of bids.

I hope you will modify that soon.

Thanks SEDOOO!

Well, now none of my domains are showing up in my account and from the home page there is no way to get into my account or log out.
Luckily I have a saved link that takes me into my account otherwise there would be no way for me to access my account.

@Sedo

Has the design change broken your site.

I'm trying to add NameSilo domains to SedoMLS and I keep getting this:

This has happened to me. The domain listing is accepted, but when you try to see the details by clicking it, the error shows?
I had contacted support and they told me it was not likely that the problem was on their end. I sent the error through email, and while there was no official response, it was solved within a couple days.
Hope it helps

This is still not resolved. In fact it looks like the developers haven't even touch it yet or you haven't passed it over to them yet.

How long to fix?

Hey there,

can you provide me with two more details, please?

1. One of the domains you've tried to activate for SedoMLS
2. After clicking which button does that error screen appear? "Activate for SedoMLS"?

Thanks for your help!

However there is another issue I would like to bring to your attention. I use all browsers. If I happen to be using IE11, your search functionality in Domain Management does not work, nor does using filter in the 'domain' column. Quite annoying.

In Chrome it's fine.

Thanks for letting us know. IE can be tricky (I guess) - I'll pass along the info!

@Sedo

Could you let us know when you will introduce 2FA?

This is particularly important for users of your MLS feature - if a hacker changes a domain price and it is sold for $100 it leaves the owners registrar account immediately before they even know it.

There is already 2FA available for the CMS you use, Typo3: https://www.secsign.com/developers/typo3-two-factor-authentication/
