question Alternatives to Escrow.com?

Spaceship Spaceship
Watch
I noticed today upon logging into my escrow.com account that they are now requiring that all customers provide them with copies of government issued ID's. I'm not interested in trusting these people to securely store documents that could be used to steal my identity especially since they're now a foreign-owned company and also because they no longer seem terribly on the ball. Anyone have experience with some of the alternatives?

I know that snapnames and sedo offer escrow, but I've never tried either of them. Are they any good? Any other recommendations? Thanks.

Thank you.
I guess what I wanted to know is if I, the seller, can set the inspection period at the beginning of the transaction or if I have to wait up to 15 days for the buyer to make a decision.

Also, don't you think that, as someone mentioned, having an inspection period for a domain name is unnecessary? Once a domain is transferred / pushed the buyer gains ownership immediately and reverse a domain transfer is basically impossible unless theft is involved.
Will you consider removing the inspection period for domains?
The default inspection period for domains is one business day. We are always looking to improve our products and meet the needs of our customers. For those attending Namescon we will have senior management and product management in attendance, so bring your suggestions to our booth.

I like Sedo but sometimes they are slow. Last sale took 4 days for them to respond once to get my name pushed so I could get paid.
Maybe, it depends who is your Transfer specialist per certain transaction...
So don't forget to rate them...

Credit cards are accepted for transaction for up to $2000. On a $2000 transaction the escrow fee would be $30 and the processing fee would add $60 for a total of $90.

Last question, sorry.
Are you going to increase the amount payable via CC? Are you going to allow PayPal payments? If not international transactions are penalized as there are longer times to transfer money.

Can I ask you if you deal with Sedo US or Europe? I have found there is a lot of difference between the two.

In this case it doesn't matter: the USA or Europe...
Because just a few people are managing all transactions at Sedo...

I never had "4 days" timeframe to push the domain at Sedo.
As maximum - next business day.

Has anyone asked if Payoneer requires the same sensitive info that Escrow/com is now asking for?

While Payoneer has well established Know Your Customer requirements, it is required and we have been doing it for a long time. Companies that are found in violation of these requirements are subject to large fines. To see just how important this is please see this article from 2012 https://krebsonsecurity.com/2012/11/moneygram-fined-100-million-for-wire-fraud/

It appears from their website that escrow.com has ended a 12 year US banking relationship with Bank of America and moved to Wells Fargo. Their apparent urgency could be a requirement of this possible new relationship, but I really don't know.

We just started accepting credit card payments. Since this is new to us we wanted to start with a lower amount. I did the same when at escrow.com. We currently do no have any near term plans to offer PayPal as a payment alternative.

I am a novice but I do remember because of America's War against Terror aka Homeland Security the whole KYC (Know Your Customer) is now slowly infecting all payment options. It's a sign of the times folks!

I mean if the US Gov and other Gov's can call up Offshore banks and request for any and all info about their customers to catch Tax dodgers under the umbrella of "War on Terror" to supposedly prevent money laundering and funding terrorism.

Makes you wonder if "terrorism" was "created" by the powers that be using poor brainwashed "saps" using MKULTRA techniques. to create escape goats so that Gov's can FINALLY have a good excuse to get valuable data on money in Offshore Accounts.

convenient yes?

Do you think any Payment processor or Escrow which is just a specialized payment processor will be immune to this?

It's already known to Gov's the Domains are a perfect vehicle for money laundering.

It's under their radar for sure.

There are no more secrets.

If one is doing business with a business like escrow.com - then one should act like a 'business' - have yourself verified. These are not cash transactions that can/go unreported.

Alternatives: cash, wire, BTC :)

that option Creataweb involves someone either the buyer or seller hanging their arse out. I doubt the seller will just handover a domain before getting paid.

and it's hard to convince a buyer to just "hand over the money" with just a "promise" to transfer the domain over to them. :xf.wink::xf.grin:

Yes. In person cash is great. In the old days wire was always an option because Paypal either didn't exist or was very new still.

The receiving and withdraw of PayPal even nowadays is disabled for many countries...
For example in Ukraine I can only send it.

Also PayPal-chargebacks/disputes are dangerous...
And seller is always wrong by default in this system.

1) Would your API allow me to create Buy It Now buttons similar to what is available on Escrow.com?
2) Do you require copies of passports or driver's licenses, etc.?
3) Do you offer the option to receive funds via ACH?

The API was built for marketplaces, we will be adding buy now buttons in a later release. Payoneer does not require ID copy from every applicant, only if we're unable to validate your identity will an email be sent requesting copy of government issued photo ID or additional information. Yes, we do accept funds via ACH.

Thanks for asking and enjoy the weekend,

Brandon

Sorry, I guess I wasn't clear. What I meant to ask is whether you're able to disburse funds to sellers via ACH.

My very first domain sale happened that way. I was selling one of my own geo/service domains and did a mailing to local businesses in NYC, so everyone I contacted was a short distance from me. Buyer showed up with $1860 in cash, I transferred the domain to his account right in front of him and that was that. Sadly, I never had another deal go that way again.

Your posted reminded me of something similar. Got a knock on the door a long time ago about a name I owned. It was going to be cash or check on the spot. Offer was too low though so I turned it down. Talk about old school.

@Brandon Abbey Can you confirm that you also accept Debit cards as a form of payment? I have asked this from support at Armorpayments but they were not sure. Here is what they replied:
Thank you contacting customer support. Payoneer Escrow accepts wire, eCheck and credit card payments in USD. We do accept Visa or MasterCard and there is a 3% fee charged to the seller. I am still waiting on confirmation on if debit card with a Visa or MasterCard logo will be accepted. Once I find out, I will update you.

If you have any other Payoneer Escrow questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Best,
Puanani
