I've been waiting for .blog to open for months. It's one of the few nTLDs that make sense to me.

How many have you preregistered? So far I have about a dozen on my list.

At least they refunded your money fast, point for support.

True but they ignored the process they created and in turn got an interest free loan. Unfortunately, support said they won't pay me interest. Lol

$19M investment and greed are perfect combination to bust this extension. So long...

When will we know if we get a preordered .blog domain?

I preordered only 1 name through GoDaddy. Now I can see it is "taken", but whois says: "This domain name has not been registered"

I did not get any info neither refund from GoDaddy.

I spent $500 to reserve them. Support refunded my money on auction day and said someone bought it direct... which is weird because I was the only person to reserve it. So apparently all nGTLD registries are shady little f*ckers.

Shane, not to deny that you've every right to be disappointed, but you weren't the only person to order business.blog (I would guess there were several/many orders on that one).

Amateurs and/or ugly fu*kers! They should make sure that all the founders and reserved .blog domains don't show up anywhere as available for per-registration. Moreover, they should enable per-registrations only AFTER they finish the process of reserving domains.

I pre-ordered only one domain and am 99,9% sure I will not get it. What makes me angry is that at this moment I didn't get any message, any refund neither any info about my pre-order. When I search for this domain at GoDaddy and other registrars it shows up as "taken" but when I check whois it says "This domain name has not been registered".

They are also pushing them if you use wordpress.com (the free, non-hosted one, not to be confused with your own wp hosted) for $22

This alone is likely going to be a huge percent of sales from free blog users who don't know how to buy a domain, or their com was taken long ago.
Annoying. I kinda thought it would be neat and cool when they first announced it and I am glad I ignored it.

PS http://domain.blog is already active for Domain.com, just saw it earlier when looking for sales

PPS If you are buying a dot blog, wait for Domain/MyDomain/NetFirms/Dotster 40% coupon on Friday and Monday and it will bring their $26.99 down to $16.19 (if the coupon doesn't exclude, it should be all new purchases)

Matt Mullenweg: "We're very reasonable on the pricing, so people will be able to consider renewing."

"Pricing is really hard. I think it's a calculus that everyone goes through in this phase, where you want to find a price point where people take it seriously and you're not so low that they're attracting a tonne of speculators, but you're not so high that you're out of reach of normal people."

DotCom.Blog

$139,999.99

$139,999.99/yr when you renew

Even in pesos that would be too much.

He either is completely off his rocker.

Or he has the funds to keep the registry going while creating a rare commodity.

Either way the pricing is just ludicrous.
